News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Just got back to my hotel after a 8:30 AM -11:00 PM day at Magic Kingdom.

Being there and spending a good amount of time purposefully with the river today, it reaffirmed my stance that if the rides they’re building (and yes, it will always be if until we’re seeing it, even if I have faith in it as is), then this will be a win for Magic Kingdom.

The Liberty Belle was consistently full, but in the three times I went around on it, very few seemed engaged with it. People on their phones, chit chat about what ride they’re doing next, just next to no fascination with it at all. We can debate the causes and displeasure all day long, but it’s hard for me to deny seeing it in person that people just kinda don’t care about it anymore. Probably haven’t for a long time.

I know the consistent argument on here has been so what if they don’t care, they don’t know better or know what they want, but I honestly think they do. They know exactly what they want and I can’t fault Disney for listening. The real estate is valuable and I think it’s pretty undeniable even without seeing an ounce of what they’re building that it’ll be a massive surge in popularity, attention, and traffic for the area.

I get it’s sad to see it go. It’s been a staple. But it’s time for a change, time’s outpaced the River’s vitality. I don’t know if the new stuff will be good or not, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
Was on it today. I don't feel as though everyone was fully checked out, displeasured. It's not a roller coaster so I don't expect people to be raising their hands up in the air and hollering. I feel this is the level of engagement that is appropriate for an attraction like this.

oh sure there's definitely a couple of checked out people. These are probably the same people you would see on the Walt Disney World railroad, in in Walt Disney's enchanted tiki room, the carousel of progress... Maybe even The people mover.

ROA is worthy of being saved. It should have been given the Disneyland treatment, not the ax.

1st point - you can’t know a guests enjoyment just by people watching and creepily taking photos of them. I may zone out when riding the train and look bored - but it’s one of my favorite things to do at the parks.

2nd point - nobody forced them on to that riverboat. They chose to get on. Maybe they just wanted to check out while still enjoying a unique theme park attraction.

I really just want them to release concept art that gives a clearer idea of the land's layout and overall landscape. It would force me to choose whether I'm actually excited or disappointed with their plans... Their half-blurry watercolor sketch art approach drives me up the wall

What you are looking for isn't concept art. You want blueprints, landscaping site plans, models, animatronic design sheets, etc...........

It's insane that this is the expectation for projects still in the planning phase. Or even that you feel entitled to that level of documentation at all!

That's the problem with releasing new attractions at the planning stage. While most Diznee Noids way up this stuff, others hate it as what they show rarely ends up being the actual attraction.

They would be better off waiting til the construction phase to announce new attractions. Be more like Universal, while the announced Epic Universe, they never announced anything til well into the construction phase.

Except renderings of the actual “blueprints” are also called “concept art” and people claim it cannot be used to inform opinions…
Art in general, at all phases, is created and released for the purpose of shaping opinions.

I have never given a client FINAL renderings of any of my blueprints or CAD drawings and referred to them as "concept art" and I would never sign off to begin construction of anything labeled as "concept". As someone who works in design and construction, that's just not something ive seen outside of mid day HGTV.

This is more to do with hardcore Disney fans not understanding what concept art is and it's purpose.

The renderings released for most of the recent hotel projects were labeled “Artist Concept” but were clearly generated from late stage Revit models using tools like Enscape and Lumion. They’re not alone but they have been the most consistent use.

Disney produces art through all phases of design and sometimes even during construction. It is all labeled “concept art” regardless of when it was created. They didn’t call the hotel renderings “Construction Documentation Art”.

It is a consolation that we still will be having the ferry from the TTC.
While I still think it’s a huge loss for the atmosphere of the park and for the history of what Walt wanted the parks to be….

I do agree. The fact that WDW has the ferries and many other water transportation options does help with this loss.

What makes anyone think that the ferries will always be there.... I would not be shocked to see the MK Ferry to the TTC discontinued at some point and everyone forced onto eithe Monorail or bus... for operational simplicity and budget cutting....

A lot of folks are saying costs for EVERYTHING are going to go through the roof because of the new administration in power.

Is it possible WDW will halt the destruction of RoA, TSI and the Liberty Belle because of this? 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

What I am afraid of is another blunder like EPCOT where they do all the Demo...and then slash the budget so there is no money allocated to build anything new... just a big empty wast of space....and maybe a high school cafeteria-inspired flex space complete with more meet-greets... People don't want rides they want more interactions with the Disney characters...lol
