I watched a POV walkthrough video on YouTube on the weekend of TSI, after having not visited WDW for almost 5 years. I don't know how anyone can think that it is outdated or boring or a waste of space.

At the world's most visited theme park, any space that isn't capable of generating revenue is considered a waste of space. While I get the sentimentality of TSI and all, when people pay almost $200 to go to Magic Kingdom, I doubt many are saying "yeah, lets spend 10% of our day just running around an island with no rides". I'd venture to guess that a huge portion of the guests on TSI are either passholders or people staying at the park for an extended period of time (not first time guests, and not guests on a short stay).

Still, I love the "concept" of TSI. I'd love if they offered something similar at Fort Wilderness (maybe a cross between TSI and DCA's Redwood Creek Challenge Trail)... though not behind any sort of paywall...

So, here's my point of view on generating revenue. Restaurants/stores in the parks generate revenue directly, because the products and services that are offered are paid for directly, and depending on the quality/selection of the offerings, revenues can fluctuate. With attractions, they can never truly have a direct effect on revenues. For the new Cars attractions to generate more revenue than TSI, they would have to specifically be responsible for the paid attendance at MK to increase, therefore increasing gate revenues. Is Cars specifically going to increase the MK attendance after it is open above the levels they have now with TSI there, to a point where revenues from park ticket sales increase substantially? Highly doubtful. Just my opinion.

You are forgetting merch sales, LLSP sales (if it's a LLSP), food sales etc.

I don't know how anyone can think that it is outdated or boring or a waste of space. And as far as the younger generations not liking it? The kids seen in the video looked and sounded like they were having alot of fun, just like the other kids that have been there over the last 50+ years. TSI is all about theming, atmosphere and exploration. The fort, the mill, the creepy caves and tunnels, the bridges, the many spots along the edge of the islands where you can sit and get a great view of LS/FL and the Liberty Belle, including the amazing view from Aunt Polly's-all parts of the experience. All of that, soon to be tossed aside for cartoon SUVs and mountains that look like car parts, just to appease the instant gratification, short attention span, IP-mad crowd and make the Disney fatcats richer.

I mean Tom Sawyer is an ip.

But will merch/food sold in the new Cars area increase revenues that much? If attendance doesn't significantly increase after Cars is open, anyone buying Cars merch/food will be buying it there instead of elsewhere in the park, so it will just be a lateral shift in revenue, not an increase.

Yes, but it is an IP that supposedly doesn't resonate with the younger crowds, as far as some people here are saying. When I mentioned "IP-mad", I was referring to recent Disney IP.

Is this significant backstep? Like i dunno all the environmental legal mumbo jumbo, but how bad of an effect is it? It’s updated Info, so i dont know if its a be all end all.
All this is that the state wants more details on environmental impact and more information about water management quality and impact Disney has 90 days to respond

Yes, assuming Cars is as popular then as it is today.

Probably not, florida wants to level state parks for golf courses. I think disney will be fine, just some things they need to clarify.

Possibly, yes. Cars is one of the most profitable franchises in the Disney umbrella. Merchandise wise, Cars sells more merch (world wide) than many other popular Disney brands including Toy Story, Spider Man and the MCU. Merchandise wise, Cars' sales are along the same line as Batman (and honestly not that far behind Barbie). Does Disney still sell Cars merch around WDW without having a dedicated Cars land? Sure. Could they sell a lot more if they had a store in a land dedicated to just Cars merch? Possibly... It's one of the reason the Harry Potter lands have been expanded so much. Sure they are popular, but what REALLY drives the land is the profitability off of the merch they are selling.

Really this is just another reason why they should not be building either the Cars or Villains areas. It is not easy to build on water or wetlands in Florida. They have so much other expansion potential at MK that seems like much lower hanging fruit that it really boggles the mind that they’re going with this instead

If they had that attitude WDW would never have been built. The entire resort is basically built on wetlands.
