I'm going to WDW with my daughtere's cheerleading team in March. Last year the team stayed at All Star Sports, but this year coach decided to upgrade to Carribean Beach. any reviews?

I've enjoyed the times I've stayed there. Rooms are very comfortable. My least favorite part is that the different "islands that make up the complex are pretty spread out. The bus makes 4 different stops for pickups. I'm sure you could make a preference to stay near to where your girls are, but that isn't a guarantee.

Here is an overview and some links to reviews:

Hope that helps

I thought it was really good. We stayed there at out last visit. The only thing is that it's so big, you could be really far away from the food court and the main pool (they have other smaller ones). We were there in Febuary when it wasn't so busy and we were really close to the pool and the food court.

I LOVE CBR ! We stayed in Jamaica rm 4403 and were 2 minutes from the bus stop and 5 minutes from the food court/ OPR and the main pool. I would stay there again in a heartbeat although I know CBR is not a favorite of people on these boards. Shutter's , I thought, left a LOT to be desired and I would never go back there. The food court is standard fare for resort food courts. The atmosphere is great and the rooms are comfortable.

love it love it love it. my favorite thing is how the entrance to Old Port Royale smells, right before you hit the gift shop that's there. Oh, and the Pirates of the Carribean pinball game there kept me busy while my daughter had her nap breaks from the parks! great resort! :sohappy:

I am glad to hear such positive feedback. Coach is arranging rooms for the moms, so I'll be near my dd, though I have no control over where the team will be. I'm kind of hoping we'll be near the food court, but somehow I doubt it. What I like about the All Star -- where we stayed last year -- is how convenient everything was.

We stayed in Jamaica 4412 last November - we could actually see the bus stop from our room overlooking the quiet pool. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed there over 10 years ago and really thought is was nice. I am sure the recent reviews will probably matter more to you.

The one thing that I want to mention though is that their main pool is going to be having a major refurbishment next year and will be out of service from I believe January to Spetember.

Quiet pools will be open and Disney is usually really good about letting guests do some pool hopping if the main pool at your resort is closed. I would just say if the pool is a mjor factor in your stay you may want to consider a different moderate for your trip.

Have fun!

CBR "Carribean Beach Resort"

We stayed there the first time we went to WDW. We stayed in Martinique (?sp) and it was fabulous. Very close to food courts and pools. Wonderful, Wonderful experience.:)

Stayed last December and again this October... You could not pay me to stay there again.

Both times I've stayed there it was because I couldn't get reservations for the resorts that were at the top of my list... The first time it happened I was reasonablly happy with the hotel... The second time we decided that we would stay at a motel six outside disney the next time we came if our only choice was CBR.

The only time we were satisfied was last year when we stay in a preferred room that is close to the main pool area... the second time we were stuck so far away from the main pool that we never bothered to go there, if we were going to have to get in our car and drive their for anything we always thought we might as well go somewhere else.... so just be ready, odds are you will be so far from the main rec area that you might as well not have one at all.... Now add to that the complete and absolute lack of service and you have a picture of what to expect.... Since your likely already stuck there, then let me give you some advice.

1. Don't call the front desk for anything while you are there, your phone will not actually connect to the front desk instead you get a call center somewhere off property that will tell you anything to make you happy but in most cases will be completely wrong. Example, we are told after hours to come to the front and we can get come antacid... we go there at 2 in the morning and the place is empty except for a janitor... when we finally find a person we are told direction to the nearest all night store, and also let in on the secret that an off-site call center answers the calls for them.

2. Don't expect the maids to leave your room alone. You can stick the little notice in the door slot but it is to no avail they will come in and straighten (go through) your stuff regardless.

3. Rooms can vary... the last trip we spent over 4 hours moving to 3 different rooms before we got into one that was useable... the first was room for handicapped people (no doors and beds so low you might as well be on the floor), the second was a lovely little room that still contained stuff from the last guest on the table and enough left over cigarette smoke to choke a horse... we gave up and took the 3rd room far far away from anything.

4. toilets don't work worth a flip. In some effort to save money they all use some wierd low water flush system. The end result is that the first flush blasts water into the tank that breaks apart and tissue or whatever is in the tank.. it also hits with enough force to blast some onto the floor each time... but sadly doesn't have enough force to send things on their way to the local sewage plant... that only happens on the 2nd or 3rd flush.... and did I mention they are loud?

Still looking forward to it? I would stay anywhere else but there... the place is horrible.

CBR was really a nice preoperty in the moderate category. The pool area was really relaxing and it wasn't even the quiet pool.

There are quite a few posts about how big it is. Don't let that deter you. They have a shuttle bus that runs around the property all day long without leaving for the parks. Don't waste foot power running around your own resort :animwink:

I was there two years ago - stayed in Aruba. I enjoyed it. I actually didn't mind that it was far from the food court and shops. It gave me a chance to take a peaceful walk every night along the beach/water on my way to dinner or for a snack.

It was too loud and crowded for me unfortunately. The busses were alwas jam packed and it had the feel of an all star to me as far as how busy it was. I really prefered POR and CSR.

Defintely seeing some mixed reviews on CBR. We were going to stay there next April but after seeing a lot of glowing reviews for POR, we decided to stay there instead. My 2 cents.:ROFLOL:

This is my preferred Mod. It was the first Disney hotel we ever stayed in years ago (price was less than $100/night.)

That said, I haven't stayed there in a long time. I prefer it because I don't like southwest them of CS and think Port Orleans is too far from the parks.

You're going to like CBR very much. It's a nicely-themed resort, and the food court has enough choices to keep everyone happy. (Shutters, though, is a disappointment, I have to agree.) Even if you're not all that close to the food court, it's just a few minutes' walk away, and it's a scenic stroll.

Have a great time!
