I'll second that sentiment. That said, Pixar's worst movie is still better than most movies released in a given year.

I agree, Just by saying its the worst I didn't mean it was terrible.

and no way buddy, Cars is a lot better than A Bug's life. But I also have spent a lot of time around racing so some of the references were especially funny to me.

I know what you mean about the references - when they made the jokes with Michael Schumacher, I think I was one of three people in the theatre that laughed.

Yeah its the little stuff in the movie that makes it funny. Daryl Waltrip made me laugh all through the movie and the Rust-eze tent scene when the guy yells "Freebird" in the back is hilarious.

With Cars being the #1 Disney Boy Brand, Cars 2 coming out, the World of Cars online game in it's beta phase, and Carsland being added to DCA, adding Carsland to DHS has certainly crossed the minds of probably both TDO & WDI. I believe this is the proposed area if such a thing was to occur:

1zgcd3k.png

Purple = Monsters Inc Coaster, Red = Carsland, Yellow = Backlot Tour, and green is LMA!

Even if Carsland was brought to DHS, it wouldn't be a copy of DCAs. It would have to be reconfigured and turned into more of a "hybrid" version to fit in the smaller area in the back of the park. Will it ever happen though? I'd say it's plausible, but it wouldn't come until after the Monsters Inc. Coaster is said and done.

I brought up a point in a previous thread that the Backlot Tour could've been closed in preparation for Carsland down the road. I know they worked on Catastrophe Canyon quite a bit, and if Carsland was to be placed next door, the special effects canyon would have to be a prominent piece of the attraction as the entire tour would be cut down even smaller than it is today. Granted, that might not be the case, but it sure sounds good.

There is multiple threads on this in different sections on WDWMagic. This same exact conversation has been brought up in the past, including the layout I made a while ago (shown above). I'm not sure if anything has changed since, but my general guess from previous discussion is that they've looked/are looking at a way for Carsland to make it's way to WDW.

At this point with the state of BLT wouldn't be better to expand CL and add an extra ride, maybe even keep Catastrophe Canyon as part of the new ride?

I'm sure that's a possibility too. I'm just going off of what has been discussed previously, which was that they didn't want to kill off BLT 100%.

As Martin posted earlier, one of the propoosals to put Carsland iin DHS would involve keeping the Canyon. I'd imagine they would somehow work the Canyon into Carsland, but that's just an assumption. Also, the gray asphalt pad due west of the MI/TSMM building is (from what I understand) necessary for the Lights, Motors, Action! show, so I believe that area is not one for expansion, but I could be wrong.

Thought Test Track was being rethemed to Cars? Or was that pre-bail out?

I loved Cars. If you are not a car-guy/gear head you won't get half the movie. Sure its corny, but there are a million inside joke/references/items that only a true car enthusiast would appreciate. It's my favorite CG movie.

I would love for DHS to add a CarsLand (must have adult ride (coaster or dark ride or mountain)) right where the aerial photo above shows. That sounds like a great plan. Would fit in great w/ LMA.

TT to Cars? Nope. Sounds like just a fan rumor running around. Granted, Carsland at DHS is probably a fan rumor, but it's very likely to also have been/is in the minds of TDO.

I really don't think getting rid of the LMA Training Area, overflow parking, Costuming, Manufacturing, and Bungalows will be as easy to get rid of as most people think...Kind of using that area.

I would like to see a Carsland, I liked the movie and I didn't think it was one of Pixar's worst.

I don't think Pixar has had a bad movie yet but it might happen in 2012 because there is 3 in one year. At least 1/3 will be bad but I hope not.

The Backlot Tour definatley need to be replaced. It is boring except CC and the costuming department. They don't even take volunteers anymore for the special effect show.

What a cool and helpful map/graphic. Thanks for creating it for us!

The thing is though, the red box dedicated to "Cars Land" for DHS is much, much smaller than the land dedicated to Cars Land in Disney's California Adventure (DCA).
0The red box in DHS is roughly 500 feet wide by 600 or 650 feet long, for a total of 300,000 square feet or about 7 Acres.

The land dedicated to Cars Land in DCA is quite a bit bigger at 450 feet wide by 1175 feet long, for a total of 525,000 square feet or about 12 Acres.

Cars Land in DHS is either going to need to take out a much bigger chunk of the existing park, or cut the 2 smaller attractions and some of the shops/restaurants and land development out of the original DCA concept that opens in 2012.

There's actually a lot of land that could be used for Carland. You just have to think outside the box. Do a search for Studios expansion and you will see what I mean.

Yea it would make sense keep the caynon it would fit in with the overall theme of the area.
