Day 6 continued

Our next stop was Cider House
  • Pear Cider-brined Shredded Corned Beef with Braised Cabbage and Branston Dressing with Pears – $5.50
  • Caribe Blood Orange Tropical Hard Cider, Florida Beer Company, Cape Canaveral, FL – $4.50

I got the beef on @ajrwdwgirl 's recommendation. It was delicious! Definitely one of my favs of the festival. The cider was good as well, though I remember reading in someone's report recently that they didn't like it. I'm not a big cider fan anyway, so I'm not sure how it compared to "good" cider.

I read my clue and went off to find the egg. It wasn't hard with the clues! It basically just narrowed down the area for you

I was on a Beauty and the Beast kick after the new movie, so I loved these.

Tried for a selfie. I'm terrible at them. Hello finger! I thought I was doing good getting my finger out of the other side of the frame :hilarious:

I waited for the gelato place to open, but when it opened about 10 people got in there before me and I didn't feel like waiting. I went off and found my egg, then decided to get something from the kiosk.

Fleur de Lys
  • Macaron Chocolat Framboise: Large Raspberry Macaron with Chocolate Fudge and Raspberry Jam (GF) – $4.75

Woah buddy this hit the spot! I like the chocolate and raspberry together.

We hit Florida Fresh again next
  • Shrimp and Stone-ground Grits with Andouille Sausage, Sweet Corn , Tomatoes and Cilantro (GF) – $6.50
  • Quat Seasonal Fruit Ale, Tampa Bay Brewing Company, Tampa, FL – $4.25
  • Mirth and Merriment Golden Ale, Barley Mow Brewing Company, Largo FL – $4.25
  • Feast of Flowers Farmhouse Ale, Florida Beer Company, Cape Canaveral, FL – $4.25
We got the flight, but those are the beers included, I think. I don't remember any of them standing out, but they were all refreshing.

We kept moving and stopped in Japan. BTW I didn't mention this from the other day, but WHAT THE WHAT is going on in the Mitsukoshi store?! It's like half gone! I hope they're just renovating it. We were so surprised and a little disappointed with how small that side of the store felt. It's still huge, but it was so different.

Cute little mini-gardens

At this point I think we were just powering through the countries because we had our Frozen FP coming up.

Up next - continuing through WS

We were the first dropped off every time except once...and that time we got off before we realized it was the wrong one :hilarious:. Did you end up going to Canteen? I hope you're going to do a report when you get back!

Heh, hope the walk wasn't too awful. We didn't make it to the Canteen, we settled for a quick stop at Casey's inbetween Wishes and Once Upon A Time. The Canteen will have to wait for another trip unless we squeeze it in tomorrow after The Boathouse but that is doubtful and with us leaving the day after tomorrow well like I said another time. @myhappyplace will likely start our trip report shortly after we arrive home and I will make smart donkey comments and provide some color commentary if I see her leaving anything out.

LOVE your ears!! You are a celebrity as your pic is on her etsy site:D I'm in the process of deciding which ones to get myself! Soooo cute that you and R's shirts coordinate with your Moana ears too!!!
I just noticed that today! So funny. I'm glad she's getting some use out of the picture. I always like seeing how the ears look on a person instead of just sitting there. It helps to see the size of them.

Day 6 continued

We passed through America and found the egg there

Then Italy! Fun fact: I'm going to Rome for work in September and I'm SO EXCITED!!!! It'll be my first time out of the country (besides Canada for like 5 minutes when I was a kid).

Since we were in Germany...

R got a cookie and I got more popcorn (anyone surprised?)

I had a lot of trouble finding the egg in China!

Finally found that one in Norway...some of these things were pretty well hidden.

While we were in Norway, we rode Frozen Ever After. R was a little annoyed that I chose this over Test Track. Oops! I'll make sure and do a Test Track FP next trip.

After our boat ride, we found the last egg in Mexico

The egg hunt was pretty fun, but I wish I could have found them without clues. I was just not into hunting all around the countries when I knew some of them were pretty difficult. It was still worth it for my prize.

EEEEEEEEEEE it's so cute!!!

We were heading out of the park at this point to rest in the room. We skipped our other two FPs, so we only did one ride at Epcot that day. We would have been fine doing none...we just like walking around.

Stopped for a shot with Donald and the boys

This a cappella group was performing on the way out and again when we came back later. I'm assuming they took a break! Well, hoping so anyway. They were good!

Up next: More food?!

Day 5 continued

I had to beg R to use these sweet passes on Splash Mountain since the line had been so long earlier. He finally consented and that's what we headed for first after dinner. I also made us a Jungle Cruise FP on the app earlier in the day, and that would come a little later in the evening.

Even with the passes we waited about 20 minutes.

No exiting here!

It was golden hour :inlove: so I was taking pictures during the outdoor part of the ride.

Trying to take some "before" selfies on my phone...I'm good at it.

Well, I tried to keep smiling and look cute for the picture, but it's just a split second too late for me to keep my cool, so this happened.

It's the one ride I can't manage to pose on! Tower of Terror is that way for me too. I've only managed it once.

Here's the after:

He hates it when we go by that waterfall, and we almost stopped right beside it. :joyfull:

We really didn't get that wet! Thankfully it was all splashed on our top half, and we didn't get any pooling water in the seats. That's the worst, when you get off the ride and have a wet bottom for the next hour.

After we got off Splash, we headed to Adventureland for the Jungle Cruise. I already mentioned that I love all the puns, but R doesn't, but he puts up with it for me :D

The light was still TO DIE FOR, so I was being a creep and taking pictures of the cast members.

Skipper Victoria was totally on board with my photo-taking :D I made that joke on Instagram, and no one laughed... You guys get it though, right?

She ended up being our Skipper, and I was the one who sat right next to her at the front. She was a great skipper! She did almost all the normal jokes that I expect, but she added a few little quips that I hadn't heard. It was a great cruise to end the day on!

Poor quality selfie, but I love getting a picture at the train station every trip.

Since we didn't have anything else we wanted to do in MK, and we'd watched Wishes the night before, we decided to go check out Disney Springs. We waited a little while for a bus, but we finally made it there. I was so lost the entire time. Everything was so new, and I never got anything resembling bearings while I was walking around. Oh well! It was fun to explore and just hope we could find our way back.

The new shopping area is beautiful! We went in a couple of stores, but it was crowded, and I hate shopping in crowded stores. I looked around Uniqlo, but I didn't find anything. I was a little chilly, so I wanted a sweatshirt, but I talked myself out of the one I was thinking of buying. I'm good at doing that...

The Beauty and the Beast store was really neat! I think I read somewhere that the theme there will change periodically, which is really cool. Gives you a reason to come back to check it out again.

We meandered around and found ourselves back at World of Disney and the area we knew a little better. We went in the art store and ran into a cast member who went to the college where I work. I've seen him in there before, but for some reason I thought he was working somewhere else now! It was a nice surprise to run into him and we chatted a bit.

R and I decided to head back toward the bus stops, but we wanted to get a drink first. We ended up at the Planet Hollywood bar, Stargazers (I think that's what it was called). We sat at the bar and watched the Preds game on tv. They're doing pretty awesome in the playoffs! I don't keep up with hockey, but the Preds are the team closest to us, and I've been to a game with my good friend who is an uber-fan. It was fun to watch the game while we were just hanging out. That bar is outdoors, so the atmosphere is pretty chill.

I was hungry, but we didn't end up passing anywhere else with food (the bar didn't have a menu, and I didn't ask like I should have). I really wanted some of the poutine from the new poutine place, but I couldn't remember where we'd seen it, and I didn't want to get lost again.

We found the bus stop without much difficulty and made it back to the resort after midnight. We were both pretty tired, and this was about the latest we'd stayed up at Disney in a while! We're usually early-birds.

Up next - Festival time!

Your splash photo gets me every time! :hilarious: Both of your faces are priceless!

Wasn't the chicken at Skipper Canteen soooo good? I honestly loved that place! My friend is going in the fall and needed a MK dinner spot, I kept trying to convince her to chose Skipper Canteen over Be Our Guest. I loved that chicken and now I am drooling that you!!

Sad that you talked yourself out of a sweatshirt, you did this last time with the hat right?? I hope you came home and ordered it on the parks app!

You look so cute at Epcot!! Love your ears so much!! And thank you again for checking for me! I guess they really were a rare item if you and @Doc Disney couldn't find them!!

Yes that chicken was AMAZING. I want some right now! And, yeah I did that with the hat, but I actually ended up going back for it. The sweatshirt not so much. Maybe I'll go get one on my next trip!

Your pictures are AMAZINGGGG! @sheriffwoody

I agree with others comments...your photos are stunning!! #photog-goals

You take the best food photos!
You guys are too much!! :inlove: Thank you! I keep thinking about starting and instagram just for my Disney pictures because I want to share them all, but I don't want to annoy all the non-disney nerds that I'm friends with :joyfull:

Those mouse ears are so cute!!! Is the headband also made of the same wire? Or is a regular headband?
The headband is really thin, and pretty comfortable. The ear part is made out of a wicker-type material so it has a kind of tree branch look to it.

Day 6 continued - dinner around the world

Since we canceled our Biergarten reservation for this night (and went Wednesday instead), we decided to just do dinner at the F&G booths. We enjoy doing this for Food & Wine as well.

First stop was La Isla Fresca, which I think is that first one as you're heading to Mexico. I could be wrong...I often am.

  • Jamaican-braised Beef with Pigeon Pea Rice and Micro Cilantro – $6.00
  • Caribbean Conch Salad with Avocado, Mango and Onions – $5.00

I think we liked these. They weren't the most memorable items of the trip, but I don't remember hating them either.

We continued on and stopped at Lotus House
  • Spicy Chicken Lettuce Wrap – $5.95

This was good, but kind of hard to share. It was falling apart as we were trying to pass it from one person to the other. I think a similar dish was offered at the Korean booth during F&W and that was much better than this version.

We continued on to get a beverage at Bauermarkt
  • Paulaner Original Munich Lager – $4.25
  • Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen – $4.25
  • Köstritzer Schwarzbier Black Lager – $4.25
We got the flight for $9

How about some heavy meatballs on this hot day? Primavera Kitchen was next
  • Meatball Parmigiana: Hand-made Beef and Veal Meatballs, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmigiana and Fresh Basil – $7.00

These were SO GOOD. It was also quite a bit of food!

We stopped in America next to check out the Smokehouse
  • Pulled Pig Slider with Coleslaw and Crispy Onions – $6.00

It would be pretty difficult to mess up a bbq sandwich with slaw. This was pretty tasty! I didn't realize there was a little station with sauce until I had already sat down, so I had to get back up and get some hot sauce. I can't remember which beer we got. R drank it and liked it. It definitely wasn't the stout.

Ok I'll finish this evening up later. Gotta go shoot a wedding! It's that time of year!

Day 4 continued: Goodbye already?

Well, not goodbye to Disney, but goodbye to Wishes :(

Since I missed it on my solo day, we decided we'd hop over to Magic Kingdom and see it on this night.

We walked past Tomorrowland. Everything had crazy waits, and I didn't feel like wasting time in line. The only thing I could get a FP for was the Mad Tea Party, which R reluctantly agreed to.

We had SOOOO much time to kill before Wishes. Like an hour or more. I hate waiting around, but like I said, we didn't want to get in line for anything (looking back, we should have...waiting to do something is better than just sitting around). We sat on the benches between Crystal Palace and Casey's for a while, then I got bored over there.

We made our way back to a crowded Main Street. I think the flag pole was still down? I could be wrong. I know it was back up on our full Magic Kingdom day, but it may have still be down on this night. Either way the train station was covered up, so we didn't try to go up there. We just awkwardly walked around Main Street for a while until it seemed ok for us to just stand in the middle of the street. It wasn't that crowded toward the end. Most of the people were closer to the hub.

Of course when Wishes started, the children went up on the shoulders.

Mainly just that one girl. She had to have been like 7. She was clearly too big for this because dad put her down after about 2 minutes. The lady in front of me held her kid on her hip and switched him back and forth a few times. I wanted to hug her. :joyfull:

Full disclosure: I have never been that attached to Wishes. My first experience with it, on our 1st anniversary I think, wasn't that great. We stood further down Main Street in the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd for 30+ minutes waiting and it was just unpleasant. Watching it further back where you have more room is MUCH nicer, and I admit it moved me a lot more this time. The music just got to me and I was welling up. I'm so glad we took the time to see it before it changes!

As soon as it was over we power-walked out. I didn't want to get stuck in a super long bus line. I think we ended up waiting about 10 minutes for a bus, which wasn't bad at all. We were in bed by 11!...I think. If Wishes was at 10, that's right. I'm pretty sure. I should have taken notes.

Up Next: Back to MK

Epcot looks like it would be amazing during Flower and Garden, and your pictures are too great!!!

I swear some of these trip reports are going to make finally bite the bullet and get a good camera...even though I know my photos won't look half as good, even with operator ignorance, they gotta be better than an iPhone, right?. lol.

Day 5 continued

So we made our way over to Pooh and used our FP. We got through the first couple of rooms to when Pooh dozes off. And then the ride dozed off...

The lights came on, the music stopped. It was only a couple of minutes before a message came on the intercom saying something about the ride stopping. I wish I could remember what it said. At this point I still thought it would start back, but pretty soon a cast member came walking through and told us we would be escorted off the ride.

While we waited, the kid in front of us pointed out a hidden Mickey to our left

Good eye, kiddo! This little boy was riding with his Grandma and I wanted to join them for the rest of their trip...they were adorable. The grandma mentioned she'd never been taken off a ride, and she'd been coming since the park opened! This was our first time too. I'm glad it was a relatively easy ride to get out of.

First a mechanic came over to push our ride vehicle forward so that it wasn't between rooms.

Then two cast members came by along with the people from the vehicle in front of us. They gave us two FP+s (one for each of us) and manually opened the door. Then we all went to the next car back and continued that process for about 5 more ride vehicles. Everyone seemed pretty cool with it, and the cast members worked really fast.

I was trying to be discreet about photos. I don't think they wanted people taking any. There was nothing we couldn't see while we're on the ride though, so I figured it didn't matter. One of the CMs pointed out another hidden mickey in the garden

You can't see it in the picture, but she's pointing at it if you want to look next time you ride :). I didn't want to stop walking to get a good shot (I think that's why they didn't want people taking pictures...because they stop and slow things down). This whole process couldn't have been more than 15 minutes.

So once we got out, we headed to the exit. We were planning to come back for dinner, so we figured we would use our extra FP then.

We stopped for some pictures in front of the castle

When we got back to Caribbean Beach, we headed to the food court to get sodas. I also wanted to check out the store.

We bought our $3 sodas and while we were filling them up, someone very sweet gave us their refillable mugs! They were about to leave and didn't want to keep them. WOO! I mean, I wish we had gotten them before we spent the money on our own, but hey...I'm happy to have free soda for the rest of our stay. We washed them then filled them up. Thank you, kind strangers!!

I ended up not walking around the store much. It was super busy in there, but I came back several times, so no worries.

We went back to the room and rested. Well, R rested in the room. I rested here:

Yeah baby! Hammocks are my jam. I didn't have much trouble this whole trip getting a hammock, and this was right outside our window. PRAISE! It was glorious out too, even in the sun. It was hot, but there was a breeze most of the day.

I think I ended up laying there for about an hour and reading/napping. I was reading Night Circus, which was really good. I know @prfctlyximprct has read it!

I took a few more pictures when we walked back to the food court later to fill our mugs again.

The resort really grew on me after the arrival fiasco. I still don't love that it's sooooooo huge and I can't see the whole resort without taking an hour long walk, but I get that it would be appealing to some. The atmosphere in the Jamaica area was quite nice.

That hammock looks so inviting, I'd rest there instead of the room too. I am seriously obsessing over your photos. You are an amazing photographer! The MM photos have great subjects :) , but there is such a stark contrast between those photos and your own. AMAZING.

I would only admit this within our safe virtual walls, but I actually LIKE the treehouse - how disney geeky is that? My DH - who loves Disney otherwise - thinks I'm loopy. I made him walk it with me two trips ago and he huffed and puffed and complained (in a kidding way) through the whole thing. I love the kitschy charm, the views, the fact that it's something I can do without waiting in line or getting an FP - and figure I'm burning some dole whip or pretzel calories to boot - what's not to like?:cat:
The tree house is a Must Do for me. Every single trip, before kid and after.
Day 6 continued - F&G

So on the way into Epcot earlier, I picked up a map for the Eggstravaganza. Since we got to World Showcase before it opened, we headed to Norway since we could walk around there and look for the egg. Y'all we looked...and looked...and looked. I finally asked a cast member for a clue and he told me which courtyard it was in. Still no luck. I finally looked up clues online, and that didn't help because I was looking at the wrong year. :hilarious: I didn't figure that out until later.

We decided to head back in the opposite direction and go around WS starting in Canada.

On the way we stopped at The Berry Basket for
  • Lamb chop with Quinoa Salad and Blackberry Gastrique – $7.25
  • Founders Raubeaus Pure Raspberry Ale - $4.25
  • Island Grove Blueberry Moscato – $5.25

It was all delicious! The lamb was soooooo good, and I love quinoa so it was perfect. I remember liking the moscato quite a bit too.

After that, we continued around toward Canada. It was at this point that I figured out I was looking at clues for the wrong year of the egg hunt, so I found the right thing. I found text clues instead of picture clues, which I liked better.

On the way to Canada we stopped at Pineapple Promenade for the item R was most looking forward to
  • Spicy Hot Dog with Pineapple Chutney and Plantain Chips – $7.50
  • Pineapple Mana, Maui Brewing Company, Hawaii – $4.25

He LOVES hot dogs. I tried it and it was actually pretty good.

I love the design on the outside of that kiosk.

We noticed the little cut-through area had a kiosk, so we headed up there. There was also a kids play area that seemed pretty cool. The kiosk up there was Urban Farm Eats and we ordered
  • Watermelon Salad with Pickled Onions, B&W Gourmet Farms Baby Arugula, Feta and Balsamic Reduction (GF) (V) – $4.00
  • Seared Pork Tenderloin with Mushroom Ragoût, Spring Vegetables and Fingerling Potatoes – $6.25

THAT. SALAD. THOUGH. It was so so so good. I love fresh foods, and this was amazing. The tenderloin was very good as well, but the salad was just so perfect for that warm day.

Our next item, I am not 100% sure of. I THINK it's from Northern Bloom.
  • Nanaimo Bar – $4.25

This was R's thing, and I just tasted it. It was good, but super tiny. If that's not what is pictured, let me know! That's the only thing I can find that it could be though...

Beautiful Canada :inlove:

I used my word clues to find the egg.

Up next: more World Showcase and EATINGGGGG

Love the floral ears!

Glad to see you received a very appropriate egg prize Sherriff - did you get to pick or were you just lucky
Doc Disney said it was challenging so using the hints or not just boils down to how hard you want it to be.
It get the whole thing over much easier
Your report breaks down all the details and you didn't have to exaggerate how much fun it was.

Enough for now or should I carry on??

Oh and R's look at you in the ride photo looked a little cold.

I read through your Disneyland TR from last summer (I had not read it before and enjoyed it)
and found this..

Too funny

But please tell me you love these rides because if I based it solely on the ride photo I would think you didn't
