Not sure this is a TDO thing. More the way the entire retail industry seems to be going these days. Let the merchandise be the show rather than it get lost in fancy displays.

I am digging the rest of the remodeled areas though, like the pool bar, old port royale and the market
Ah so disney shoots for typical now?

True. Target is guilty of this as well (as a large corporate example). Although I'm not sure Disney should really let their merchandise "be the show"... ;)

The main thing that looks off in the store are the cash desks, the colours and wood choices just look off compared to everything else. If they got the desks right the whole store would look better.

Target is the gold standard for merchandising in the retail industry. They sell the same stuff Walmart does so they need a way
to keep people (my wife) browsing in the stores and coming back week after week so merchandising and product placement is the key. Disney does not have that problem so I don't know why they insist on remodeling stores to look like a Target and their rooms to look like a Marriott.

Ahhh, Caribbean chic. Looks like any number of low to mid-range interchangeable all-inclusive resorts scattered about the Caribbean (arguably worse). Or the local Hampton Inn. I can only assume this was the intent.

I sure am glad I get to come here and read all the reasons I'm supposed to hate the new look of absolutely everything in WDW.

Either the theming is too bland because they didn't install huge plastic palm trees and neon colors in every guest area or they went too far by naming a restaurant after a cartoon crab. I can't decide which complaint is worse.

The lobby is pleasant and the food court is okay, though I do prefer the old one. That, however, is the drabbest looking gift shop ever. The CBR used to be about color. I would be far less inspired to walk in a purchase stuff now. I guess I'm not part of the current marketing philosophy.

Wow just watched the 30th video. The new hotel just totally dominates the whole area. The skyline stuff too and the traffic, I don’t ever remember seeing vehicles from there before, maybe once the works are finished it will stop?
The food hall needed some work when we were last there 3 years ago and was always busy, we always ordered from the smallest line but guess you don’t have that option. I agree I don’t see much of a Caribbean theme from my limited experience in that region.

Old Port Royale, etc. looks great! A very much needed facelift for this resort.

Of course, time will tell as far as the impact of the new building. Kind of hard to miss it, LOL.

I’m not even a drinker, but I would love to sit at that pool bar with Hubby for a couple of beverages.

Just as an FYI the Centertown Market doesn’t serve lunch...only breakfast and dinner....closes from 11:30 till 5 pm...

Think that is just for today?
