With the recent redo, it now has Murphy beds and can accommodate 5
Ahhh.. But note the kids... The Murphy bed is a "child size bed" and won't accommodate an adult size teenager... And it's not right to ask him to sleep with a 2 1/2 yr old in the queen.....

Very cool??? So you haven't seen the horrible mix mash of DVC additions at the other resorts already? ALL of them also sacrifice some regular guest experience (IMHO) (sight lines and the like) for those platinum plated DVC members.

Carribean beach is my fav moderate....oh well everything for the dollar.
I believe you took my "very cool" comment out of context... See I asked a questioned about how the plans look (since they haven't been leaked or released yet) and I got a response of:
Quite nice. The design is possibly more New Orleans than Caribbean to the untrained eye. The biggest thing I found was the contrast to the other buildings in the resort.
So that "very cool" was directed to the "Quite nice" comment that someone shared about how this resort will look.

I'd rather hear it will look quite nice, than "horrible mix mash" wouldn't you?

I went ahead and booked a room for CBR for the end of august 2018. I hope by then most of the quick-service/shop work will be done. If there's other construction still going on, I'm fine with that.

Food court closing has been delayed four weeks. Cute gift card.

Any one get the gift card yet? Any restrictions on it? Hope it's a regular Disney Gift Card. Wanted to use it on a future Disney Cruise or trip.

It is a regular card.

Where'd you get that information? I hadn't heard that yet. Do we still get the gift card if the food court is open?

I was just there. CM at check-in told me the food court was still open during my visit and would be for 4 more weeks. I'm guessing May 26-ish. If you got the e-mail you get the gift card. I got $75/night.

Also, more utility marking going on Monday. Big construction storage area near check-in.

Have they started the demo of any buildings yet? According to the MDE website, there isn't anything at the north end of the property anymore.

Question about the laughing place photos. Why do they have screens up around the Trinidad South Pool? I thought construction was going to be located mainly on the other end of property. Any idea what is going on down that way?

Photo update as of Thursday, May 4. As stated in earlier posts, no demolition of the buildings has begun yet. However, furniture and fixtures are currently being removed from the rooms. According to cast members, the entire Barbados section will be removed. The Barbados section has been fenced off from the walkways, and the parking lots have been fenced off. The outer road around the resort (Sea Breeze Drive) is still open, as the bus transportation still uses it for guest pickups.

This is the important news, as related by cast members: The current food court will close at the end of business on Sunday, May 7. To address this, the resort opened, early this week, three "Island Markets," one each in Martinique, Aruba, and Jamaica. There is no "Island Market" in Trinidad. What is an "Island Market?" The resort reconfigured one ground floor room into a snack, beverage, and "breakfast items" marketplace, to provide options closer to guests in the three areas. The buildings with the "Island Markets" have signs at each corner like this, as well as sandwich boards on the sidewalks out front. Nevertheless, you still have to hunt for the room number to find it.

Here's the inside of an "Island Market." The bathroom has been closed off. Interestingly, the resort also reconfigured the room next door as storage and a restroom for cast members, as annotated on the door. There was no "refillable mug" soda machine here.

As cast members stated, the food court will close at the end of the business day Sunday, May 7. Work crews are hurriedly preparing the new central food outlet for the Caribbean Beach Resort....this "tent" with rigid blue walls. According to cast members, this will be a buffet style venue, or perhaps similar to the current food court. This "building" is located behind the central pool area, in the parking lot south of the Old Port Royale Centertown.

This is the sidewalk approach between the Old Port Royale building and the pool area on the right. In this view, a white trailer is currently parked in front of the glass double entry doors. There are at least 3 entry doors on this "tent." Based on descriptions, this will house the dining area as well as the buffet serving area. I try not to delve into opinions, but this dining area is much smaller than the food court and table service restaurant combined. With the limited offerings, no wonder the resort is offering a credit.

The kitchen area is a pre-fab "mobile kitchen" trailer separate from the dining "tent." In the below photo, you can see the large exhaust vents on the roof of the trailer and the "mobile kitchen" sign in red.

Finally, the table service restaurant at Caribbean Beach Resort has been closed for a while. You might say that "Shutters" has been shuttered.......

Now I know what the permits for one random room in each section were for.
