Last visit, I got as far as the pre-show. Unfortunately I had a dinner reservation, so after hanging around EO for a bit, I had to scoot out of there and never did get to see it. :(

It's so super 80's, I think it's hilarious. I remember liking it as a kid. I saw it last May, and I'm probably good for a while. DH really didn't like it at all, as he was expecting some MJ old school tunes to be in it.

The motion floor moves far more and can be distracting.

And you don't get the "whip" effect at your feet like you do at Epcot.

I like it and would rank it 3rd amongst the Disney 3-D movie attractions I've seen (after Muppets and Philharmagic). The music is catchy and the 80s sci-fi design of the world is great.

Too bad not all the effects were brought back, but I'd prefer they keep it until something new is made instead of bringing back HISTA.

I've enjoyed Captain EO's return! It's nostalgic, makes you smile and laugh at all the 80's stuff, and it actually does have some really cool in-theater effects (lights, floor moving, etc.).

Although, I do think it has run its course. It was a nice and welcomed return, but it's time to say farewell. No, Disney, don't bring back Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. Now both shows are outdated, so please bring something new! Something futuristic! Wall-E???

I think I must've grown up in a more restrained, less garish version of the 80s. My siblings & I thought EO was odd, overdone crap in '86. Our ages were 10-14 then and not one of us found anything cool about it. Fast-forward 20-something years. EO didn't get better. It is, however, hysterically funny. Like the hubby said, "I know we forget a lot in our old age but I *know* MJ's shoulders never made that sound."

I remember seeing it when I was a teenager, right about the time it debuted. I fell asleep. I never did like it. You are not alone.

Its funny to watch with the total 80s cheese of music defeating the evil Anjelica Houston and Michael Jackson doing the little "he hees" and yelps with his voice randomly throughout the song.

Still one of my all-time favorites, though I could do without the moving floor, as mentioned by Martin (I've only seen the Anaheim version). It is one of the few things that have ever made me feel queasy in a Disney or any other amusement park (that god-awful Shrek 3-D made me feel the same way, but I suspect some of that is just a general dislike of Shrek). Whoever programmed that floor should be shot. It doesn't move in time with the beat, and consequently makes me feel a bit off. It works well during the crash landing, though. I'll have to check it out at EPCOT Center when I'm there next time to see if it's any less jarring.
What also disappoints me about the "Tribute" version is the lack of other effects that were in the original run - lasers that shoot from the screen, smoke effects, etc. The missing lasers are especially obnoxious because they left the freaking sound effects in for them!

a universe of good and evil... where a small group of people with type writers type up the script for the show.

As for Captain EO, yeah, I like it. I remember it from back in the day, so I wasn't expecting anything like today's "standards" in movies aka so much CGI that nothing is real, and nothing is impressive. I love models and sets when compared to CGI.

Yes! In 9 times out of 10, I'll take models and sets over CGI any day of the week!

I was happy when it came back.... It was a nice touch. But it's still there like 3 years later which is strange to me.

Surely the novelty has worn off and all the hardcore MJ fans have relived it/bought the merchandise.

Time for something new IMO

You know I may be alone in this but I am actually a huge fan of Captain EO. I never saw the original run as I was born the year before it opened but my mom would always talk about how amazing the attraction was. So, naturally when the attraction re-opened a few years ago I had to finally see it for myself. As I was swept back to 1986 while watching the film I thought to myself "Sure it's a little cheesy, but this was made 24 years ago". As the film ended I couldn't stop thinking about all the work that went into making that movie. All the costumes, sets, effects, It's nothing like today where everything can be done with computers. Now I know we still use all those tools today but you just don't see it as much anymore, everything is starting to become motion capture. Like I said, I may be in the minority but I wouldn't mind if Captain EO stuck around another year, it's either that or the return of HISTA;)

You're not alone. I was a month shy of my 9th birthday when it came out at DL. I LOVED it and I still do.
