More than Thor who can hang out in space until rescued and survive the heat of a sun?

Or Superman who took on the entire Justice League and is as fast as Flash?

Until Thanos, Hulk was invincible and Loki could get out of any scrape by faking his death.

Bunch of Gary Stus.
I don’t agree with him but I also don’t agree with you. Thor isn’t the first MCU hero that can survive in space and it’s due to the fact he’s Asgardian. Asgardians are established to be very strong and hard to kill unless by something of equal or greater power. Remember, they were worshipped by ancient earth civilizations as gods. Gamora did it for a bit due to cybernetic enhancements and Peter because he was part celestial though Rocket said either of them might not last long.

Superman in JL, yes.

Hulk was knocked out by the Hulkbuster in Age of Ultron and Loki just didn’t have a game plan set up beyond “we have a Hulk.” Abomination also gave Hulk a good fight.
Can you post the details you noticed in the spoiler thread?
I have. If they’re not there I think I’ve also talked about them in the Endgame thread and earlier in this thread.

Carol Danvers has no such arc. We don’t see enough of her past life to validate her struggle, and by the end of the film, we don’t know anything about her that actually defines, or at least alludes to, who she is.
Higher. Further. Faster. That's who she is, who she was even before she got her powers.

If you didn't like the movie, that's totally up to you, but I don't understand saying we don't know anything about her character. She's a military test pilot! You don't think there's a "type" there? I doubt there's many people who maybe did a few years of early childhood education with a minor in pottery and then just accidentally became fighter pilots! Right off the bat, you know she's sort of an adrenaline junkie. She was letting loose in her go kart as a kid. You know she pushes against the status quo. She had to deal with people like the "cockpit" guy and the military that wouldn't let her for combat missions, but she still got to fly. Pretty sure she was playing baseball instead of softball in the flashbacks? Another piece to the puzzle. You also see her let her hair down at the bar and bond with Monica and Maria, so you know she's not a no-nonsense killjoy. You see her sense of humor with Fury. Isn't that decent character development for two hours?

The military guys who ridiculed her are cut from the same cloth as the guys that put down the weakling Steve Rogers. Cap obviously had a little more developement though since his scenes involving that stuff wasn’t restricted to just flashbacks. We also don’t get to see if anyone else really stuck up for her during military training which would be a shame if no one did.

She’s basically invincible by the end of the movie. Literally nothing can beat her.

Thanos could easily outrun her by warping across the galaxy, trap her in a pocket universe, rip out her soul, send her somewhere else in time, drive her mad by breaking her reality or just write her out of existence.

That took me two seconds.

She’s powerful, but she’s just ‘one stone’.

Or use the Mind Stone and pit her against the others Loki style.

I’d be surprised if that doesn’t come up at all.

Everything you just said about her character development was pre-amnesia, which if you read my prior comments, is a big reason I gave issues with her character. There was little connection between her new and old self. Because there was no connection between the two, they might as well have been 2 different characters.

Banter between two characters is fun, and it worked somewhat in this film as throwaway fun.

I liked the cat.
The rest of the movie was predictable and visually uninteresting, and it made me sad every time the directors made Samuel L. Jackson try to run on camera.

I took it as she was re-assuming her old self after learning the things she learned in the film ("My name is Carol"). So while she was certainly affected by her amnesia time, I don't think the core of her character was changed.

Until then she’s the ultimate Mary Sue
I’d like to believe the Russo’s are not dumb enough to Superman this.
In the comic books, I believe her greatest vulnerabilities are of the mental side of things. Brainwashing, memory loss, that sort of thing. But, if you're going on the Mary Sue sort of slant, she's pretty much always up against other Mary Sue's and Gary Stu's, as like was said, it's superhero stories where everyone is nearly invulnerable. What the MCU will do, who knows? Feige said all along that she would be by far the most powerful character they've introduced, so he's been good to his word. I assume he has some sort of cryptonite to hinder her in some way as 4+ hours of movie time to just have her come in and unsnap Thanos just won't cut it.

My wife and I really enjoyed the movie. As with any superhero movie the plot is predictable but how can it be anything else? Now, for those who don't like what an actor or actress says and based their view of a movie on that, I feel sorry for you. Actors and actresses are really irrelevant to a movie. The writing, directing and editing are what are really important. I look forward to the day we can replace these overpaid people with CGI actors and let the storytelling be the only story that comes out of the movies. Until then, I never listen to what the actors have to say off the screen.

I mostly also never pay much attention. This story just kind of blew up so it was hard to ignore. I was always going to see the movie though and I’m glad I did.

Haha I know. At least he has a “flaw.” Find me CM’s
One flaw I can think of is an apparent cocky attitude. In the footage shown to shareholders the Avengers are meeting in HQ after Carol showed up and are planning on going after Thanos. They know where he is due to the huge power surge of the Infinity Gauntlet coming from whatever planet he fled to being the same as the power surge from the snap. Rhodey asks “how will this time be any different” to which Carol replies “you have me this time.” This has to be near the beginning of the movie though and there’s no way he’s defeated that early. My take? It doesn’t work and Carol eats some humble pie.

That seems to be the biggest fear in and around my circle. Captain Marvel comes in and saves the day like its nothing. The heros of endgame should be steve, tony and thor, they deserve the triumphant end. They started this 10yr journey and they deserve to end it.

If Disney is phasing out those actors it makes no sense for them to get the big push at the end of that film. The whole point is to make consumers want to pay to see the next movie- satisfying storytelling isn't necessarily at cross-purposes to that, but it's not the main goal.
