Captain Jack Sparrow might be doing meet n greets at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this year.
And this may be old....Tarzan and Jane Porter will not be back.

Interesting....and to make it more so.....
Mouseplanet is claiming Entertainment at Disneyland may bring Marvel characters into their Halloween celebration this year. I think this is a GREAT idea. Now I know we were told by certain self proclaimed insiders that Marvel characters would not appear in any of the castle parks any time soon. I, however, have been saying all along that it would be sooner rather than later.
But that brings up Marvel characters at WDW. The author correctly points out that DHS has used non-traditional or non-Disney characters in that park and uses the Power Rangers as an example. Star Wars would be another example. He then repeats a false rumor that many people believe however. Namely that WDW can't use Marvel characters as long as they are used at IoA. The TRUTH is that Disney can use any Marvel characters NOT featured at IoA. So I think it is possible Marvel characters could be crashing the (halloween) party at the MK this year. Perhaps we will get lucky and they will takeover the Stitch stage.
Your Marvel predictions are always entertaining. I'm still waiting for Sony to give Disney back the rights to the Spider-man film franchise...

Define "featured".
What I sad was that they won't want to sell a Disney product in their parks. For one it will give Disney access to Universals books not just a large cut of the profits. I stand by that prediction. If Marvel is removed from IoA Sony still retains the movie rights. For now anyway.
I think they will let it slip a way. It's played out and Sony is not just going to crank out movies just to hold the rights IMO. It just won't be worth it to them. How can there be another origin story when one was established in everone's mind in 2002. Spiderman is going back in the vault at least as it relates to new movie releases. Time to move on.
Disney will bring him back in 10 to 15 years. Sooner in other media (comics, animation etc.) in my opinion.
Those characters currently featured at IoA are the only ones Universal has the rights to use at the park. I think there are 8 or 10 or so. Hulk, Spidey, etc. It is a limited number although they do have the rights to most of the favorites. Disney plans to push some of the lesser known characters and create all new characters through Marve'ls existing talent that Disney will then be free to use anywhere including WDW as I understand it.
That's actually a completely different prediction then the one I was referring to. Obviously, since Universal and Sony are different companies, the theme park rights held by Universal and the Spider-man film rights held by Sony are unrelated.
(Although I believe you had Uni giving up it's theme park rights shortly after HP opened. I'm waiting for that too.)
No, I'm referring to the Spider-man 4 thread where you repeatedly and emphatically claimed that Sony would relinquish their rights to the Spider-man franchise rather than re-boot it because it was too risky to spend all that money restarting the franchise. :ROFLOL: At least, I think that was your argument.
If anyone's interested in the whole thread, here's a link:

If you know anything at all about Hollywood, it's fun for a laugh.
Here's the thing. In that Spider-man thread you demonstrated that you have absolutely no understanding of how the Marvel arrangement works. You speak with authority on the subject. But you've already demonstrated you have no actual knowledge.
The truth is, no one has said with any authority whether or not Disney could use Marvel characters that are not featured at IoA in WDW. If they tried, it would certainly result in a big lawsuit. Any expert I've seen quoted on the subject has deemed it unlikely Disney would do this unless they bought back the rights.
Odds are, eventually Disney is going to wind up shelling out a lot of money to buy back rights Marvel sold in order to make some use out of their newly acquired property. That's why a lot of people believe they overpaid. The most valuable Marvel assets have already been signed away.
On the upside, you've given me one more reason to look forward to MNSSHP this year. When the Marvel characters aren't there, that's one more Marvel prediction of yours to go up in flames.
Edit: PS. Sorry to hi-jack the thread. A Jack M&G would be cool.

Don't think Thor is covered in the IoA deal. He'd be great to see in the parks. Especially at Norway.
Sony did suprise me with going forward with a Spiderman 'prequel'. We will see how it all works out for them. Because from all appearences they appear to be remaking something very very similar to the 2002 version.:snore:
You do know that Disney will profit from all future Marvel licenses without doing any of the work I suppose? I was joking about them being at the MK this year but mouseplanet seems rather sure they will appear at Disneyland. A castle park last I heard. So let me be concrete in my prediction, Marvel characters will appear somewhere at WDW within a year and Uni will announce plans for the replacement of Marvel before Legoland opens next year. I get it wrong sometimes but this is a rumors board so that is inevitable.
People insisted Iger paid too much for Pixar too. Just sayin'.
No, he's there. Just to demonstrate what they're up against as far as characters appearing at IoA, take a look at this one single photo:
In other words, anyone with any name recognition is locked up.
Fair enough.
For my predictions, I think the new Spider-man will be a hit. Whether or not it will be any good is another matter. If it's not, the inevitable sequel will suffer. But the first one is guaranteed a great opening weekend. And since they are keeping costs low with a new cast, that makes it as close to a sure thing as you can get.
I think most of the critics of the Pixar acquisition have been silenced. But at the time, I can see why people were uncertain. You had to wonder how long Pixar could continue their winning streak. And the projects they had in development sure didn't sound like box office winners.
I don't necessarily think Disney overpaid for Marvel. But it will be a long time before that purchase pays dividends. The number one reason for the purchase is that Disney wants to make Marvel cartoons for Disney XD. Number two is video games. Anything else is gravy. Use of the characters in the theme parks was an after-thought.
I think you're way off on your time table for Marvel characters appearing in FL. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the west coast. And it seems very likely they will appear over seas. But I don't think there will be any change in the status quo in FL until Disney decides to buy the rights back from Universal.
To be clear: Universal will not voluntarily allow the rights to revert back to Disney. Just like Sony wasn't about to allow the Spider-man rights to revert. These rights are too valuable to just give up.
Barring some legal wrangling, Disney will have to buy back the rights from Universal. And Universal will want enough money to secure another liscense and re-theme that part of the park. So it won't be cheap.
Since Disney has more pressing matters than putting super-heroes in its existing parks, I think it will be a long, long time before Disney takes this step.
Going out on a limb, I think it'll be three-five years before the Marvel characters have any substantial presence in WDW. And I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a lot longer than that.
