When - August 1st - 22nd
Who - The Captain and his good lady wife and their 2 daughters (14 & 17)
Rather than do a day-by-day account I thought I’d try a different approach for this (my second ever) Trip Report and do one park at a time in its entirety.
MAGIC KINGDOM was our first park. We visited MK for full day visits on Wednesday 2nd (Oh where were all the Tomorrland visitors that morning ?), Tuesday 15th (quite a bit busier) and Monday the 21st. We also had a late afternoon / early evening visit on Wednesday 9th which was purely for the videoing and photographing of SpectroMagic and Wishes.
Rides - We rode Jungle Cruise, Pirates Of The Caribbean and Haunted Mansion for the first time (ever) Wow - how could we not have experienced these rides before ?? I was completely amazed by the AA of Capt Jack within the POTC ride. New since our last visit was Mickey’s Philharmagic - incredible, amusing and very enjoyable.
Finally, we rode all the old favourites - Space, Splash, Big Thunder, Buzz etc etc. We avoided Stitch (although a loveable little fellow and his additional commentary to the MK Monorail was most amusing) we decided to pay heed to comments found on this website and to the comments made in The Unofficial Guide.
Eats - We did our customary breakfast at The Crystal Palace. Another first was a dinner visit to The Crystal Palace. On both occasions food, service, the characters and the atmosphere were excellent and very good value for money. On a different note was The Liberty Tree Tavern. The service and character experiences were very good but we were very let down by the menu (especially as we had visited here 3 years ago and enjoyed it so much). A venue that we won’t be visiting for a while.
Parades - Share A Dream is becoming a little long in the tooth and needs more attention than just the removal of the glass domes. SpectroMagic on the other hand - I could watch this parade all night - the music, the lights and the Disney Magic - Brilliant.
Fireworks - Wishes. What can I say - I bought the CD about 12 months ago and was a little disappointed by the purchase. However, as a musical score to choreograph the MK's firework display finale - excellent.
Other Bits - Main Street USA- Gee, how much did we really spend there ?? Character greetings - we didn't chase or stand in line for characters at MK this year (we let them come to us while eating. Wait Times The first morning saw us walk onto everything in Tomorrowland with no more than a 5 minute wait. After lunch Fast Pass for Splash and Big Thunder was necessary. As the days rolled by Stand By lines grew to in excess of 60 mins for the popular rides and clever use of FP was necessary to maximise our time
To sum up - despite the heat and humidity MK was as magical as ever. The birds and The Liberty Tree Tavern were a let down at the time but it will take a lot mor to deter us from the most Magical of parks.
Coming up next - Blizzard Beach and Typhhon Lagoon
