Captain EO at Epcot:

I remember seeing this when I was a kid at Disneyland (I remember it terrifying me). I don't know if nostalgia will push me to watch it this summer. Probably not.

As much as I love Angelica Houston and MJ - I have to agree. What I did not like about Disney is that immediately after MJ death (correct me if im wrong) Captain EO was resurrected and put in Epcot and out in DCA? I happen to be at WDW during the summer nighttastic where Captain EO (as well as the "limited") return of MEP was being billed. The attraction was almost like a shrine, people were crying, etc. I have to admit, I am always a little sad because I am a MJ fan. With that sad, the movie and effects are amazing for the 80s but this is 2014 and it is an embarrassment. But that can also be said about the entire Future World side - while I love Spaceship Earth, it is boring but they need not to remove it. Mission Space is a complete waste of time. TT has been ruined. And while everyone loves Soarin - I still do not get its popularity. I can see the same wonders with a flight over California on a clear day.

Hey I don't know about anyone else but that was the worse 20 minutes wasted on our vacation, Disney really needs to get rid of that and get a better attraction:bored:

Please excuse my bluntness, but what exactly where you expecting? For it's time, it was a pretty amazing attraction. I think it still has one of the best sound systems in Disney, but that's beside the point. What were you expecting for a film/production that's 30 years old?

Also, Disney unfortunately has a habit of making things worse when they change something...especially in Epcot.

We are still fans of it, was fortunate to see the original run and was excited to get it back. I personally prefer the Paris version of this iteration as the moving platform is used to more of the music.

I like Captain EO purely from a nostalgic standpoint.

But...it's dated. And the effects are pretty terrible in the post-Jurassic Park age.

For instance...the little flying monkey thing? When he turns to fly away at the end, half of him is missing, where the puppeteer's arm was before being composited against the blue screen.
