I think it looks pretty good. Having stayed at the poly three times and having never used the arcade, I won't miss it.
Bus service and counter service are worse at the deluxe resorts than at the mods and values. Apparently they think most deluxe guests look down their noses at riding buses, eating fast food, and playing arcade games.
I feel ya because as an adult, Trader Sam's is totally the shiz. However. ((gosh, how do I say this??)) As a mom who once traveled to WDW with tweens/teens, sending the kids to an arcade with $20 apiece buys juuuuust the right amount of....um....Mom & Dad stress-relief time. Not an immediate value to the masses but priceless for some. Are some people really upset about trading out the arcade for a Trader Sam's? I guess if I hated things that are awesome, I might feel the same way.
Personally, I'd be fine with every Disney hotel trading out the arcade for something, just about anything, else.
Good riddance to those touch screen ordering machines I say. They clashed horribly and were often glitchy whenever I visited.
I really like the new framed destination pictures on the walls in the seating area (they're classy and have a retro vibe to them), and the new hanging ceiling light fixtures are pretty nice as well. The chairs i'm not as bit of a fan of. The new bamboo design isn't terrible in of itself (they may even be more comfortable than the old ones), but the old chairs had a more elaborate leaf design that I liked a lot (much less generic). The new upholster on the booths is very generic, as are the bland new tabletop designs compared to the old ones. I'm also not a fan of the new flooring either.
Here's a picture of the seating area pre-refurb for comparison to Steve's pics in the link above-
This is weird because I don't think it looked bad before, but whatever.
I noticed Disney is using a lot of advertisements for other destinations and locations in a lot of their updated theming. If I had to guess, the idea is that it makes the setting feel more grand than it actually is.
Those old chairs also made up for the lack of a proper fitness center at the Poly.Good riddance to those touch screen ordering machines I say. They clashed horribly and were often glitchy whenever I visited.

No more self-serve dole whip?
I thought the travel posters were simply a nod to the longhouse names, past and present.
Is it really going to be called that?? That's awesome!! Thank you, Golden Girls for putting the word "lanai" inside the mainland american lexicon!Dole Whips will be served at the new Pineapple Lanai… when it opens
Do you suppose they'll serve cheesecake there too?Is it really going to be called that?? That's awesome!! Thank you, Golden Girls for putting the word "lanai" inside the mainland american lexicon!
That would be a huge plus except if it comes with old ladies talking about what happens behind closed doors (if you know what I mean) then i might lose that cheesecake before i even leave the restaurant.Do you suppose they'll serve cheesecake there too?
There is a patio, and then beyond that, the pool. Can someone refresh my memory...
What do those glass windows 'normally' overlook? I see the construction screens at the moment... will that view change?
Just curious... Thanks!
