I was being sarcastic. Apparently not succeeding.I understood him to be saying that the character is only Captain America because of the particular time and context in which he came into being, not because there is anything specifically American about him (I know nothing about Marvel lore, so I could be garbling this totally). I don't think he was suggesting that anyone actually wants to rebrand the character or sees anything wrong with his being American. (Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you.)
