Can't believe it!

Just booked a vacation for September 15 -21, 2013! I can't believe it because my husband just doesn't care for Disney. He vowed he would never go there again! His last visit was 8 years ago. We stayed off property and went just about every day of our vacaton to Disney and did nothing but ride all the rides from opening to close. So this vacation will certainly be different. I'm trying to cater to him. We will be staying at POR with the dining plan. Yeah for military discount! I booked a room and dining package and we will buy the military tickets they offer for 4 day hopper plus waterpark option. This is wonderful for him since it will keep me from being in the parks for our entire vacation! LOL I tried to book Alligator Bayou room since I know he would enjoy that roustic look to it but unfortunately they don't have any available so it will be sleeping with a lighted up firework headboard for him. lol I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he enjoys this more laid back vacation.

Firstly, Congratulations!!!! NOW the fun begins, the planning!!! And Kudos to your DH for giving Disney a *second chance*! My DH is also not a fan of Disney (was a Sgt in USAF .... hmmmm maybe its the military side of him??? LOL) Once he gets there, he has a blast, its the planning he doesn't get in to, so thats ALL me and my Travel Agent from Kingdom Konsultants (big shout out to Jessica!) If your DH isn't a big fan, try to plan a down day for him to recoup. Hang at the pool, do a QS meal at your resort. You have lots of time yet, Id keep calling back to see if an opening becomes available for Alligator Bayou (who knows, you could get some unexpected pixie dust) ;)

I like staying on property. Just seems less hectic and you get immersed in the Disney theming. Riverside is a great
chose IMHO. The price is right, the pools over at the Mansions are usually quit, the boat ride to DTD is a great way to get there. I know this isn't your first trip, but I always tell first time visitors, "don't try to see and do everything." Relax, take your time, enjoy what you're doing and don't worry about missing the next ride/event. You'll enjoy the experience more and want to return to explore other areas.

Thank you and your husband for your military service!!!!!!

Way to go!!! It's always GREAT when people give things a 2nd chance. Just because they didn't like it the first time doesn't mean they won't fall in love the 2nd time! Have a wonderful vacation and enjoy yourselves thoroughly!!:)

Lucky you!! I will keep calling with my fingers crossed! I think I picked a late enough week in September for the Halloween Party. My daughter and I went a few years ago and never realized what we missed. BTW, love your trip report!!!

Most men aren't big fans, but I think they end up enjoying it so much more than they thought they would. It isn't too hard to get them to return.

Congrats!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party historically starts a little before your dates, so you should be able to attend the party.
