So sorry. I know how that feels. We just had a car breakdown and swallow up all our trip money. :( We changed our package from 6 days to 2, but at this point I dont think its worth a 3 day drive (one way!) to spend 2 days in the park. We may just take our daughter to Disney on Ice this winter instead. It's so disappointing. :(

thanks everyone.... yes... the little boy in me is devestated.... nobody knows just how therapuetic wdw is to me... but when you get hit with a $1,500 ac repair bill, some stomach/intestinal issues that are draining me on the extra meds and tests that have been done, house insurance and tags for the car all due... well... there's just only so much one can do....

hopefully, i'll be able to go in 2013... here's hoping and praying that i can...

thanks again everyone... yeah, it really sucks, but i thought i would warn everyone that there will be some dining reservations open now.. especially at ohana since that seems to be a really sought after ressie....

@ britt - i normally would've waited on the ac repair... BUT, i live out here in kansas where we have had 2 months of temps in the 100+ area every day with a total of 30 minutes of rain for those 2 months.. it's incredibly hot, humid and in severe drought mode out here... no way was i going without ac... however, there's been many times i've done without to be able to go to wdw :)

So sorry you have to cxl, but sadly sometimes these things happen and when you couple some of the more routine expenses with some larger unexpected ones...there's just no way. I'm sure someone is going to be thrilled though to get your 'Ohana ressie.:)

I feel for you and the a/c matter. We're in TX and while this summer has been more mild (well, as mild as Texas ever is in the summer)...a/c is just so important. I think you guys have weather like we had last summer...super drought and 100+ degree temps for months. It's brutal. Hoping things look up for you and hopefully you can start planning for 2013 soon.

Trully sorry to hear you must cancel your trip, I can only say there will be a next time. Im 62 years old and get more excited about our trip to Disney World than the kids and grandkids , and for that short period of time we will spend at Disney World I too become a kid again.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I am so sorry for you.
I know the tremendous disappointment you must feel. Hubby and I had to cancel last year's trip (November 14-21) because my mom died suddenly and unexpectedly on the 5th. It was supposed to have been our first trip back since my dad passed away the year before - both of them at the ripe old age of 62.
My kids were devastated, so we couldn't see leaving them (my mom lived with us after my dad died), and there was no way I could envision leaving for my "happy place" a mere 2 days after the funeral.
But here I am, 9 months later, all booked to go November 9-17. Hubby may, or may not be coming, depending on his coaching schedule, so right now it looks like a girls-only trip of myself, sister-in-law, my 19 year old niece, and 9 year niece.
I hope you are able to schedule and start planning a trip for next year. It will help to ease the disappointment, and let's be honest, the planning and anticipation is half the fun.
