Cancel a reservation?

I'm a little confused about the cancellation policy. For restaurants that have a 24 hour policy, is that 24 hours from the time of the reservation, or does it just mean you must cancel the day before?

E.g. if you had a "Be our guest" reservation on Sunday at 6pm. Do you have to cancel by 6pm on Saturday, or just any time on Saturday?

Thanks for the help.

Any time the day before. I got hit with a fee, which they did reverse for me. We were late at the parks and I meant to shuffle some ADR's around before we left that day and forgot. So I was doing it when we returned to the resort. It was like 12:15 a.m. and I was canceling and booking and moving stuff around. And I noticed I got hit with 2 fees. I called in the a.m. and they did reverse them for me. But that isn't something that I rely on them doing. It was my mistake and didn't realize the time.

We have only missed a reservation once, but the charge we were hit with was given to us on a Disney card so it wasn't even really like we were hit with a fee since we were going to be spending money in the park anyways.

I believe it's 24hrs from your reservation. Bc we've had luck calling right around dinner time 24hrs before the day we wanna go and getting a spot that just opened up bc of a cancellation.

I cancelled one on my last trip with no problem at the time of reservation because i changed my mind when i saw menu upon arrival. i think they just do it because it prevents the no shows.
