Canadian Lumberjack Show to open at Epcot's Canada Pavilion in early October

Are chainsaws that much louder then a rock band? I can't remember that many complaints about hearing off kilter outside of Canada, so maybe the chainsaws are hella loud?
They really aren't on for much, probably no more than 30 seconds, but you can notice them occasionally all around the showcase, much in the same manner, but less soothing, than the drums in Japan.

Saw the show for the first time today. It was OK, but the guys are certainly lacking some showmanship.

I think what really handicaps this show is being stuck up on such a small stage. There isn't much room to move around.

IMO this will be good for a non-regular guest to EPCOT, but it doesn't seem to have much rewatchability (is that a word?) for a local or frequent guest.
I watched the show for all of a minute this past week. The banter I saw seems to be improved from the original video and it did draw a good sized crowd.

In general it held no interest for me as I could neither eat it or drink it.

WDWToday reported a rumor on their Nov. 3rd episode that Off Kilter will be returning to Epcot for a special holiday run. Has anyone heard anything regarding this?

Yep it is True....sort of. The guys from Off Kilter have all been called back to do a special holiday show, The Canadian Holiday Voyageurs. The show dates should be approximately 11/28/2014-12/29/2014. I really wonder if they are playing on the Mill Stage and if the Lumberjacks will get the boot during that time, or if they will have another place for either act? They will not be performing as Off Kilter, nor will they be doing any OK Songs, but it is better than nothing. Marie

Let me first say, I watched the video, it wasn't great.

Now, to all the just plain haters about a lumberjack show in general. There are many lumberjack dinner shows that exist, the lumberjack theme could be done to a more adult entertaining level.

You state "The guys from Off Kilter" so does that mean this incarnation of the Voyageurs won't be hampered by the, imho, less than stellar female vocalist?

I agree with your assessment of said vocalist, but alas I think that a vocalist will be included. I don't know if it will be either of the two young ladies who performed last year that I saw, but I am almost positive that the same lineup will be done. Sorry ABQ!!!!! Marie

I tend to agree with this. The lumberjack show doesn't particularly appeal to me, but from the video posted, it's the execution that really was an issue. Hopefully, as mentioned, the show has improved simply with better dialogue and pacing -- which tends to happen as performers get more experience and get a sense of feedback from the audience.

I suspect they could tweak the show to be a better version of a lumberjack show. Much as I don't care for it personally, I suspect many guests would enjoy a well done version and you can't argue that it would not be unique among Epcot/WDW offerings. It's good to have a variety to appeal to different guests .

So as OK'S #1 fan, how are you going to manage to get a month off ??

Agree with that. The emcee really isn't up to the job. It requires a good amount if charisma and stage presence. As scripted, the show depends on the competition between the red shirts and blue shirts and who'll win. For that to work you have sell the concept to the audience and give them a reason to believe it. The emcee doesn't do that and the performers also have to have byplay between each other to support the concept.

This troup doesn't sell the concept and as such the show just sits there with no excitement and is currently a dud. Maybe they can get better but they've got a long way to go.

And as a Canadian I'm sick of that lumberjack/woodsman stereotype. It's never been part of my life and I've lived in some very rural areas as well as urban areas of the country. Come on Disney, find something else to represent my culture and there is lots including street acts like Cirque du Soleil that started as a street act in Montreal. That would be great streetmosphere.

It just seems odd to let a band go, then a few weeks later call them back for a different project?? Thoughts?? Marie
Big crowds for the holiday season and as we all know, the casual Disney fan is most likely unaware that OK is no longer there. Rather than deal with complaints all season long, Disney probly figured it would be easier to have them perform for the month so the masses would be none the wiser and lines at guest services would only be for magic band problems and not complaints regarding Off Kilter being replaced with and advertisement for Echo chainsaws sans quality performers. ;)

Probably, the thing is that the lines at Guest Services are there and people are complaining. Someone the other day was saying they were waiting at GR and were talking to a few people in line, who didn't know about OK. Well a lot of the complaints for right then got added to include the ousting of OK!!!! As people find out, they have been complaining so it isn't going away too easily from the feedback we are getting. Marie

I tried. No dice. I will be popping in for a few days during that period though, no worries!!!! It just seems odd to let a band go, then a few weeks later call them back for a different project?? Thoughts?? Marie

I gave up trying to figure out or understand their logic anymore. Despite all the backlash and what will probably be a Richter scale greeting for them, I think they will still carry on with their "we are going to do it and don't care what you think" attitude. I'm going down Black Friday and am going to try to redo some things to make the first show. Would like to be there in person to hear the ovation for them. Down until 12/7, keep my eye out for you.

Millions of people goto NASCAR races to be entertained... that doesn't make it a suitable drop in EPCOT. People aren't bagging on the concept of a lumberjack demo... they are hating on the execution and the side effects it has. Big difference

.. and would work as a hell of a feeder to the DTD show too. Seems like a no brainer to me... put one of those strength pair guys out there. Many people don't really know what to expect from a Cirque show.. so a street version a few times a day would be a great intro and get people to want more..
