Can you turn tickets into a AP?

Okay...so we are planning on getting APs next year and I am wondering.. if we purchased a package for our upcoming trip..can we turn these into APs and get credit for what we have already paid or do we have to start all over?
We know we want to go more than once again next year.
I have never stayed onsite and always bought tickets at the gate so please don't flame me for a dumb question..:)
Many thanks in advance for answers!

I am not sure. I do know for Florida residents that we can convert a 3 day park hopper into an annual or seasonal pass, and pay the difference. But the expiration date remains the same as the hopper. I am not sure if it is the same for a non-florida resident.

I have heard that if you go to Guest Services they can work up some deal where you get credit for the unused tickets toward the purchase of the AP.
I think I read that somewhere.
Need to verify it though.

Good luck.

I found this on allears:
If you decide that you want to upgrade to an AP/PAP, you will get full credit for the price of the ticket towards the AP/PAP. Expiring MYW tickets must be upgraded within 14 days of first use. MYW tickets with the no expiration option on them can me upgraded at any time. In all cases, the AP/PAP will be backdated to the date the hopper pass was first used. Tickets purchased prior to MYW tickets can still be upgraded but must be completely unused to do so. But beware: If you get a MYW ticket with the Water Park Fun & More option and use one of the WPF&M admissions before doing this, you will only be allowed to upgrade to a PAP.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! Since we have decided to get the APs it would be great if we could get credit for this trip. We went In February, which we thought would be our only trip in 2007 and here we are going again. This is a great help!
Again... thank you!

Yes, we were planning on it if this trip could be applied.. if not we may wait and do it in February when we go next year. We know that we want to go twice next year so I think it would work out better to do the AP.

Just do it before you use your tickets then so they'll apply the full amount.

If they will apply it, we will do it at check in (or before if we can) Thanks so much for the help!
Yay!:sohappy: I am so excited !!
Actually, you might have to use one day first, since it's a package with MYW tickets, but just ask at checkin and they'll tell you what to do.

best call disney

i know for a fact that you can upgrade your MYW tickets just as long as you have at least 1 day still available on them to an AP... however you said that you were getting a package and i am not sure uf package tickets can be upgraded. to play it safe i would call reservations and check with them and then i would call the hotel you are staying at and ask for a supervisor who could assist you. i would check with several people because in the past i have been told 1 thing by 1 reservation CM and something different by another.

This is exactly what we are planning to do next year. We are going in June and then at Thanksgiving and then Spring Break the following year, but we are doing the package with the dining plan for our June trip.
When I called to make our reservation and told the CM what we are going to do, she said that we should buy the package for our June trip and then on the last day of our trip, go to guest relations and convert the tickets to AP, otherwise we would not be able to use the dining plan once we converted them, but would receive credit for what we hadn't used.
If we wait until the last day, we can still use our dining plan and then apply the current gate admission price for the days we had tickets to our AP and just pay the difference. I have confirmed this with WDW dining also since then.
Hope this helps.

That is precisely correct. If your vacation package includes any version of the Dining Plan, you shouldn't try to upgrade your ticket to an AP until after all dining credits have been used. Doing so will void all remaining dining credits on your reservation and it's a huge problem to try and get them fixed (if it's even possible).

If you just have a regular package, Guest Relations should be able to "extract" the ticket off of your room key and use it toward the AP right away.

If you upgrade on the final day of your trip, the AP will be back-dated with a start date of the first day you used the ticket. If you do it right away, the start date will be that date, even if you haven't used the ticket yet.
And as someone else said, if your ticket has the Water Parks & More option and you've *used* any of those options, you will be forced to upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass. I'm 90% sure that upgrading the ticket must be done within the 14-day window from its first use, even if the No Expiration option was paid for. (And this applies to all ticket upgrades... After 14 days the unused days don't expire, but the ticket is locked into what it has for features and days at that point and can't be changed)

Lastly, the AP upgrade must be done at a theme park or Downtown Disney Guest Relations window (and possibly at any ticket window too, but I'd feel better going to Guest Relations). It cannot be done at your resort, as resort CMs cannot sell Annual Passes.

Hey there Nemo!! Great job!!! Yes you can absolutely apply the amount you have paid on your ticket towards an AP. Do it before you use all of your days or it wont have any credit amount. Doing it at the first Guest Relations window you come across is a great plan!!! Have a wonderful time! Belle

Adn Rob is exactly correct about the Dining!!! Make sure you use all of those credits as they have a tendency to disappear off your room key once the ticket is extracted!!! Belle

So, if she uses her MYW ticket days, she loses out on applying that cost towards an AP, but if she gets the AP first, she'll lose the dining plan credits, right?

Some folks have said they lost DDP credits by upgrading before they were finished using the credits, others said they were fine. To be safe [since I have no direct experience] you can upgrade a MYW ticket so long as it has at least one remaining admission left on it and you're within the 14-days from first use and get full credit toward an AP that will have a start date of the first use of the MYW ticket. So, if she uses all the DDP credits before the last entrance to a park while she's there [buy any extra snacks at the resort to take home with her and pack them], she can go for her last park day and upgrade to an AP before entering. Thus she gets all the benefits from the DDP and can upgrade the MYW tickets for the full value of the ticket she bought toward her AP.

That sounds like the best way to do it - thanks!
