I think a lot of us are guilty of talking along. My friends and I do it but not in a loud way... And not all the time just some of the time. I Kind of liken it to singing along at a concert.. It does get annoying but hey your on vacation....

Well as long as you don't mind doing it cause you are on vacation......who cares about the other 75-100 people in there with you:brick:

You said about it being like a concert....well I am sorry I paid 70 bucks to hear the person in concert singing it, not the 12 drunk girls screaming at the top of their lungs the wrong words behind me.

I guess I am one of the few people who enjoy hearing the actual recording rather then the people around me:shrug:

I was raised to be considerate of others, especially in a public place.

I guess I just expect the same from others.

Very similar to the golden rule. (fundamental moral value)

Understood. It is just odd to see how people (including myself at times)speak in these forums. Being considerate is a two way street. I do not think the attack was considerate. I will agree that it can be mildly annoying, but in the end, someone talking during the ghost host speech is trivial and should not not warrant such an attack. If Jerm had such a problem with the person, why not calmly state so and try and have a logical discussion about it. Attacks will not solve his frustration with people who talk during an attraction, if anything it will cause them to do it more. I have no problem with the original poster because it was a vent and not targeted to a specific person. It is sort of like complaining about bad drivers.(we all do that).

Well said!!! For one thing, Jerm's comparison of people talking quietly in the stretching room to "12 drunk girls screaming to the top of their lungs the wrong words" was just a tad off base, don't you think?

Any time you go on vacation where there will be lots of other people around, you pretty much have to be open to lots of behaviors that are different from how you yourself might behave. If that gets to a person this much, maybe they should consider going somewhere other than Disney on vacation.

I grew up going to Disneyland, and only in the last few years have been able to go to Disney World. I have to agree that DL's HM is much, much, much, worse than DW. Now when I go to DW I really enjoy it because I think it is so quiet. In all my times of riding HM at DW I think I only had one obnoxious room that reminded me of DL. Or... maybe I'm just getting lucky.

The worst though is the fireworks at DL. They play some of the narration from the HM and the ENTIRE hub is yelling the narration. Seeing the show for the first time and having the entire hub yelling the narration, and "directing" the action in the show. BAH! In comparison I much prefer the guests at DW than DL.

One of my ultimate pet peeves. I don't understand what's become of our sense of manners when we are in public anymore. And you're right, there's always someone yelling. ALWAYS.

I don't think Jerm's comments were off base. Think about his post next time someone is talking on their cell phone behind you in a movie theater.

Is littering or cutting in line different behavior?.. Or just someone being a jerk?

There's always someone here trying to pick a fight.

I was not attacking someone as a person I was attacking someone speaking for a entire group! He said well I am on vacation so what does it matter.....which means he thinks everyone on vacation should be able to do this.

So because everyone does it, it is ok? This is why it is ok to talk in movies, to text in movie, to talk on your phone any time you like? I was not address the talking quietly in the stretching room, I was saying how people love to talk/scream along with the ghost host. It is amazing how people have just accepted rude behavior as being ok:brick: Then when you ask them to be quite they call you rude. Also what is the difference between 12 drunk people screaming along and 30 people yelling along in the Haunted Mansion? You have to pay a large sum of money to get into both and for a lot of people that is a once in a life time chance?

thank you Monty, but going off what all these people have said they are the people that take flash photos on every dark ride , that cut in line with 20 people when just one person was waiting, or of course my fav the people that smoke in the non-smoking areas! You might all read that and think "I don't do that" and I can't stand those people either ....but those people that do that are just as bad as the ones that have to talk along with the Ghost Host to me!

I am not trying to pick a fight, we have gone over this a million times before....people are rude and think it is ok. I have gotten that point, do I like it NO. Will i ask someone to be quite in the middle of a movie? YES! Will I talk to a CM about someone doing something wrong rather then just let it go....you betcha! Will it matter in the long run of life? NO!

That's not what I was saying. My point is that we all know that pretty much every time you go on HM, you're going to hear people talking over (or along with) the narration. That's clearly the prevailing opinion on this thread. But is there anything that any individual guest can really do about it? No. So what it boils down to is either just dealing with it, or if it really bugs a person that much, don't go on the ride. Why put yourself in a situation that is going to annoy you? Especially while you're on vacation? Makes no sense.

That's why I think Disney should look at how people generally behave in these situations, and look at altering how the show is presented. Disney used to do that back when they were first designing the parks. It seems they don't anymore. All they do now is implement rules (like no flash photography) that people ignore anyway, so what's the point? If the control over this is in anyone's hands, it's Disney's. That's my point.

Then when you ask them to be quite they call you rude.

I've had plenty of occasions (including just last night at the movie theater) where I've asked someone to please be quiet. And rarely, if ever, have I encountered someone who responded as though I was being rude. It's all in how you ask.

Will it matter in the long run of life? NO!

To me it doesn't even really matter in the short run of life. If I'm on vacation, I'm living in the "now". I'm not going to let something like that get to me if there is nothing I can do about it (That's the key in my opinion: If I can do something I about it, that's a different story. If I can't, then why let it get to me).

No, but they are trying to pick a fight with you.

I foresee a closed thread!

You are not alone my friend...on my most recent trip, someone in my party decided to recite the entire HM spiel about 10 times louder than the recording...let's just say I wasn't a happy boy by the end of it.

When we rode in september we went on right before it closed! and we were the only 4 in the strech room, we were the last on the ride! it was so amazing to hear everything and the sound moved around us soooo much more because there wasnt anyone obstructing or talking over it.
