I'm 40 now and have many fond memories from being a kid and spending hours riding 'If You Had Wings' in Tomorrowland. For those not old enough to remember and those who are, here's a blast from the past

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vmfc8aVW-U&feature=related

When Eastern dropped sponsorship it changed to 'If You Could Fly' with all reference to Eastern removed and that wonderful song was changed  Apart from that the ride pretty much remained the same.

I was nostalgic and so a little disappointed when it was replaced with Delta Dreamflight but soon began to love that ride too. A video of that is here

I loved the effect of 'flying' in a future world on Dreamflight and always looked forward to that part of the ride the most! When Delta dropped their sponsorship everything remained the same except for the name Delta being removed from display and the ride was renamed 'Take Flight'.

Sorry to bore you all, I was just thinking back to it today and thought I'd share.

I only knew it from Dreamflight and on, but I sure did love that ride. Honestly I might even say I enjoyed it more than Buzz. But that could just be nostalgia getting the best of me.

I am 37 and remember this attraction VERY well! It was one of my favorites when I was a kid. My mother's as well. We would ride it 2 or 3 times every trip because it was always a short wait and my mother wanted to get out of the heat! LOL

I had moved from Florida in 88 and was not able to get back to WDW until I got married in 95. I was actually heartbroken that 'If you had wings' was changed. It was like a link to my childhood, however small, had been ripped away. Although Dreamflight was good, it wasn't the same.

While I can understand the need to update attractions in the park, I can't say it's always a good thing. Seems the imagineers forget that when they remove an attraction to build another, that's not all they remove. They also remove a connection to another time.

I remember it well. We loved it because it didn't cost us a ticket from our book--felt like we were riding something for "free"! I still think of it as "If You Had Wings" every time I step on for Buzz.

Yes, I do remember "If You Had Wings," and since reading this message, I can't get that song out of my head!

I'm 46 and visited "IYHW" as a child (~10 yrs old, around 1972), but didn't get back to see any of the other versions of this ride at this location. We still laugh about the scene that simulates the sights and sounds of you flying in the middle of a flock of birds (were they flamingos?)...my Mom doesn't particularly like birds, so this scene always gave her a slight case of the creeps...

It's ironic that "Buzz Lightyear" is now in this location and is one of my daughter's favorite rides now. We'll be there in August, so I'm going to give it a nostalgic look this time.

I even remember using the paper tickets for rides (had to make big decisions for E-ticket rides!)--seems like FOREVER ago. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

I am 27 so I have never rode "If you had wings" or "If you could fly", but I used to loooove dreamflight. I still get all nostalgic from the song and it always takes me back to a very rainy day in the kingdom when I was probably 12-13 or so. A friend of mine and myself must have walked on it 10 times in a row waiting for the rain to stop, we both loved it since then. It's one of my favorite Disney memories :)

Yep. Many do not remember but that ride was a freebie back when they used tickets so we went on it often. Anyway, here is a pic of the reservation desk by the exit to the attraction. You could book flights there.

I do not remember if the version that is in my head was if you had wings or if you could fly, but I remember absolutely loving that ride. I'd beg to ride it over and over as a kid, and the fact that it was one of the few rides then that you could just walk on to made it better.

To me the best part of the ride was taking the peoplemover around and being able to see in to the show scenes found inside.

I remember it well - state of the art for its time, and very noisy from all the projectors and cooling systems. I most recall the load hall and the globe.

As for Dreamflight.... and all time favourite. Truely a ride far greater than the sum of its parts.

DF was very cool. That speed tunnel was quite the thrill. Always reminded me of WOM but shorter.
