Can you get a Photopass Photographer to follow you?

The lady and I were going to get a photographer to follow us around for some really nice day and night photos during the holiday season. But then we heard from someone that it might be possible to have a Photopass Photographer to follow us around. Of course I wouldn't expect them to do it for free (tip them on the side), but we were wondering if it was even possible to have them do this.
I would assume they have specific posts or areas to cover thats why I am asking.
Thanks for any help!!!

I dont really know, but I wouldnt think so. In away, they should though IMO. Alot of the ones I pass seem to be just standing there, either hoping or trying to get someone to take a pic. So if you offer up some extra cash, I think they should be delighted to do it because in their shoes its better than standing there waiting and its not like they cant get someone else to take their spot. But again, I dont know and think its very doubtful.

I really wouldn't think so since they are usually assigned to a certain area not certain person/people. If every photographer went off to document someone's vacation, who would be left to take photos of people passing by the photo spots. I also don't think that Disney would let them take money on the side to do this.

I doubt that you'd be able to get a photopass photographer to follow you around, but I'm sure a photographer following you around for the day can be arranged by Disney.

I think that the Photo Pass photographers are "assigned" to their spot, and therefore cannot follow you, but you have two other options:

I know somewhere on this site is information on some new Photo Shoot at the Grand Floridian, where you have a set amount of time, and a photographer will walk you around the grounds taking pictures of you.

Also, there is a website called Gifts of a Lifetime:
http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/photoevent.html

For 90 minutes (and $225) they will follow you around the parks and take whatever pictures you wish---and all of the pictures become your property therefore you can print how many of whatever pictures you want.

Hope this helps!

The PhotoPass Photographers can not follow you around the park. They may walk a ways away from their assigned area to get a particular photo you'd like somewhere else, but they have to return to the area they're assigned to.

The only exception, as previously mentioned, is at the Grand Floridian.

And they're not really supposed to take tips either.

To be honest, I would invest in a quality (and easy to use) camera, that way you can use it when you are not in Disney as well. The PhotoPass people can also take pictures with your camera, and the photographers are pretty much in front of any good picture opportunity location. And for the times when there is no photographer in sight, just ask somebody who looks like they are not busy at the moment, or is trying to find somebody to take a picture of them as well, that way everybody wins and you are not taking anybody out of their path to do something. --But be cautious: you should never accept an offer from somebody who is asking to take the photo for you(unless they are a PhotoPass photographer). I believe it was ABC who did an episode on one of their shows about a popular scam at major vacation spots, where this was one of the most popular ways that people got their cameras stolen and then they ended up getting sold online.

In certain circumstances, they actually might to some extent. Particularly in World Showcase, there are several Photopass photographers assigned to "roam." I've talked to a few Photopass photographers that have said that they would follow guests around (only if the guest asked, of course) and take pictures of them in several countries. Of course, this isn't for the whole day.

Photopass photographers are at nearly every major photo spot in the parks, water parks and some resorts. Even without one "following" you around, you should have easy access to one at nearly all times that you'd want them. And when they aren't around, usually there's a regular Cast Member nearby. As long as they aren't busy, feel free to ask them to take a picture with your camera. Also, Cast Members that roam the parks (custodial, outdoor foods, etc.) are trained to approach guests taking a family photo and offer to take a photo of the whole party together, as long as the CM isn't already involved in something else.

I have a real problem asking someone to take our picture, but we offer to take photos for others all of the time. I would say that over 90% of those we offer to take pictures of accept our offer and return the favor. Maggie

I know that 99% of the people that offer to take photos are only offering out of the good of their heart, but after seeing that episode several years ago, it really hit me. They even demonstrated how easy it was to steal somebody's camera (they returned it of course several minutes later). I'm just saying, you have to be careful.

We have asked PhotoPass photographers to take pictures in "non-taditional" ways. Like the ones posted in front of the castle, we have them take close-ups of us with those cute character statues in the hub, ask them to take pictures pointing towards train station instead of castle etc. Also, we found a great photographer at TL in April who had basically nothing to do so she took tons of candid pics of our kids playing.

I also ask people to take our pics. Works great on rides like POTC, Small World etc....they can't run away!

But, I also don't hesitate to ask people in other areas and have met many nice people this way. I always volunteer to take pics of people. Fun places to ask are in lines for rides with the ride etc in the background, or the "theming" visible.

I saw that special as well......I just hope I ask honest people!

Why on earth would you want one of those people following you around?! Most of them are pretty creepy...

HAHA, welllll, most of them are REALLY nice, I have worked a LOT with them before being a Merchandise CM and all. Thing is, they just have LOOOONG hours and very few break periods at times, and when they DO, sometimes they can't even get to sit down before being called up somewhere else (and sometimes they have 9-10 hour shifts). It's a VERY stressful job, believe you me. Soo, if you see one and they look sorta miserable, it's nothing personal. :)

Now, on the topic: No, it's REALLY not proper for anyone to tip them to do a specific photograph, or, like you mentioned, to walk around the park with you. Like the others have said, they are designated to specific photo spots all along the park. They CAN go a lonnng ways for some photos, but it still has to be in their area. There are times (like at TL where I am) in which those specific regions are covered by different people, so always be on the lookout or ask if there's someone in that specific area you want the photo in.

Lastly, as was said before, CM's that are outside and doing nothing else can indeed take your pictures for you as they are trained to do so.

Hope that helps!

While you can't get a photopass photographer to follow you (you wouldn't want one to anyway), you CAN get a Disney Event Group photographer to follow you. By the hour or total package. I'll have numbers for you tomorrow.

They all got it right. No we can't follow you, though we do talk about doing that. All the other stuff is correct, including the fact that some of us are wonderful and some of us are creepy.

Tips....*sigh*....the other night I received 2 $20 tips. I tried to refuse but the guy stuck them in my pocket and ran. I had to turn them both in. They went to the Animal Conservation fund at AK. I said they should go towards a cast party.

Well, I seriously thought about it. However, it is what you do when you won't get caught that defines your character.

You can hire a photographer thru Disney Event Groups to take you thru a park and have professional pictures taken. These photographers are the only hired professional photographers allowed in the park. (Although as long as someone didn't have more equipment than the average photo enthuiast and dressed like a normal guest I doubt they would know the difference)
