Can you do all of AK in 1 day?

Haha calm down, jeez

If you cut out these and you'll be fine:

you may actually want to stop and get something to eat. Then there are bathroom breaks - maybe a meet and greet, some shopping, maybe sit and enjoy the scenery, have a beer, take a few pictures, perhaps the kids may want to do a few of the educational things scattered throughout the park; scratch your nose.

Sorry, AK is one of my favorite parks and I get a bit defensive. I think it's a park that is much more enjoyable if you take your time through it - but to each their own.

No way to do it all in a half a day. I couldn't do it all in a day, but I've never tromped around at full speed trying. I don't think it is possible, though.

I can be in and out of the Studios in five hours, easy. And I'd have done EVERYTHING I like to do. But I won't have done everything there is to do.

Disney fans tend to project a lot. :) We say that the Studios, AK or Epcot are "half day parks"...but that is because WE don't like them. Don't let our biases become yours. :) If you haven't been to a park, you should allow at least one full day for it, no matter what park it is.

Listening to us, a newbie might plan 3 hours at AK, 3 at DS and then go to DTD. Next half-day at Epcot, followed buy 1.5 days at MK...and think that they'll be able to EVERYTHING in WDW in three (or at least everything that is worth doing.)

Any park is "a half day" park if that is all the time you spend there. Even the MK.

Go see WDW. See and do as much as you can. Then make your own decisions about what is and is not a half-day park.

These are show length times (not including waiting and seating and exit times)
Nemo - 40min
Flights - 20min
FotLK - 20min
TTBaB - 9min
Show total is 1:29, average seating/exit per show is about 5min total, so just under 2 hours for all shows.

These are ride lengths INCLUDING loading and unloading
Safari - 32min
Dinosaur - 8min
Kali - 10min
E:E - 6min
Train - 15min
Primeval - 5min
TTS - 4min
Ride total is 1:20.

Pangani and Maharajah are both 10 minute walks without actually stopping to look at animals. So, lowest estimate with at least stopping to see something would be 30min for those two.

Rafiki's/Conservation Station is about a 10 minute walk. Touring the building without doing any of the activities is estimated at 10 minutes (never done that). 20min total there.

Then we have the lines. Let's assume the park is at 1 out of 10 crowd level (as it is today, 10/16). We are looking at E:E and Kali at ~20min, Safari at ~30min, Dino and Primeval at ~10min, TTS at TTBaB at ~5min. Total for lines 1:40.

So, I suppose the 6 hour/half day would be possible. On the most empty of days, without actually stopping to look at much, without eating, without meeting a character, assuming the shows fall perfectly so you don't have to wait for them, without watching the parade, without watching any of the live entertainment throughout the park, and without completing any activities at Rafiki's, and with teleportation between attractions, it takes 5:50 to complete the park.

I'll stick with my earlier comment - I recommend a day and a half. :)

Walking through Rafiki's without doing anything is not doing everything. And you left stuff out. The parade leaps to mind, lol, but there is more. You cannot do everything in six hours. It is simply not possible.

I think you may have missed my point. I was saying that it is not possible to actually do. I listed all the things I left out at the end to make that very point. I apologize for not being more clear.

AK has over 20 attractions including the shows; FotLK, Nemo Musical and Flights of Wonder.

Let's just use 20 for round numbers. 6 hours is 360 minutes. 360 divided by 20 gives you 18 minutes for each attraction.

This does not account for the time it takes to get from one attraction to the other and does not include Mickey's Jungle Jammin' parade - or heaven forbid, you may actually want to stop and get something to eat. Then there are bathroom breaks - maybe a meet and greet, some shopping, maybe sit and enjoy the scenery or some of the performers in Africa, have a beer, take a few pictures, look for Devine, perhaps the kids may want to do a few of the educational things scattered throughout the park; scratch your nose, breath.

If you can do ALL that EASILY in 6 hours, God bless you because it would truly be a miracle.

Well, that's if you do EVERY SINGLE thing. Which most people don't do at any park. That would be like saying - You haven't really done all of Magic Kingdom unless you have done every single meet and greet. Or you didn't properly experience Epcot, because you didn't see every show in every single country, or didn't slow down to watch the dolphins and manatees for a half hour each. Some people can spend incredible amounts of time smelling the roses. Other people have to really make an effort to even call it a half day park.

We once did it in the time it takes to go on the Safari. After that we left and didn't go back.
Going the week after opening wasn't such a good idea. Crammed in like sardines in a can!

Nemo and EE are going to be your time consuming attractions....hit then early and you should not have a problem doing AK in one day!!

No, I got your point! I was agreeing with you! I am the sorry one. I'm sorry I made it sound like I was disagreeing.

I'll go sit on the naughty step for two minutes. :)

Two trips ago, we did tough to be a bug, safari's, water ride, had a beer at the bar, walked through all the lands, did dinosaur and a few other things we wanted and called it day. And a really nice young man came up to me and asked if I would like his fastpass for EE because he had to leave and didn't want to toss it. ANd I got to ride for the first time without waiting on line. I would have had to wait alone because my husband was scared of EE. LOL!

That kid helped me so much and saved me so much time waiting on line. I was so lucky for his thoughtfulness.

He must have heard me trying to coax my husband that he can close his eyes and it won't be that bad. LOL!

That's the issue with the great animal kingdom half day debate. Some people love exploring some people not. Some love shows, others, well not so much. Just because it has enough for some to make it a full day doesn't automatically make it a full day, for some yes others no. I don't think either side is wrong but I think a larger selection of attractions (in all types and age ranges) **cough**familydarkride**cough** would benefit both sides.

I always feel kinda bad for the people who brag about flying through DAK in 2 hours like it's an accomplishment. They're severely missing the point of the park. There is no possible way to do that whole park as intended in even a full day, let alone half of one.
