I don't mean to be rude but I visit this site only a couple times a month and when I do I like to see what is going on..... not what has happened 4 YEARS AGO!! I keep running into threads from years ago that I think are new and I get all excited.... then I read the original post date and get upset.
If there is a comment that needs to be made then start a new thread. Please don't find something from years ago that already has 10 pages of comments and then comment on that one bringing it back alive.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Yes and no.

I've often wished that there was a column on the caterogies page stating the date of the first post, however the old threads do serve a purpose and can be informative, enlightning and funny !

Sometimes it is better to start a new thread; other times I can see why an old one has been resurrected. I need to get in the habit of checking the dates because I also have been fooled.

What if the really old threads are closed so you can still see them but nobody can reply to them. I mean usually the multiyear thread bumps say something like "yes, I agree" or something pointless like that.

I've moved your post to Feedback, as it isnt a News and Rumor, and will therfore add to the general clutter in that board.

Old threads will not be deleted, as WDWMAGIC is all about preserving historical information concerning WDW. People do occasionally respond to old threads, and sometimes it can cause a problem, but this certainly isnt that widespread.

My best advice is to check the post date to avoid any confusion.

If such things upset you, perhaps you should either a) learn to check a thread when you first open it, or b) examine exactly why you'd let something so innocuous bother you enough to make a useless, off-topic thread about it.

What some sites do is have archives. The old stuff gets moved to a retired file that way people can still read them but idiots will not come along and post "meh likey dat" on a post about a past event or retired ride for example.

Do not ask me but i moderate a new site and we put old new in an old news file. Everyone is happy because old posts are not deleted and idiots are not bumping old threads.

that is only my opinion, make an archive and put to bed closed and old threads.

I'm dealing with them on an idividual basis. That is, if it is something timeless, I let it go. If it's dated, I lock it. I think the other moderators may be doing the same thing.

I suspect some people are just annoyed by 1. getting exicited about a special offer, only to find that the "deal" has expired 2. taking the time to give a well thought out response to something that occured years ago, and to a poster who will never log on again.
