Can We Agree to Stop Complaining Disney About Prices? Let's Talk Value

And yet WDW still had record profit and guest numbers last quarter. I guess they may know their business a wee bit better than you :)

Disney stock is up 9% in the last 3 months, that ain't too bad now is it :)

Seems the investors are pretty happy with the results you keep saying are so bad.

BTW Comcast is down 1% over the same timeframe.

Now what about the recent improvements to FP+ and the announcements of the moves of execs at WDW? Good stuff right? Things are moving forward.

You speak about guest not liking the new systems but then go on to say you can't eat at BOG because you can't get a reservation. I guess somebody is liking the new system, or reservations would be easy to get at BOG.

Your all over the place, maybe putting some clothes on would make you less cranky :)
what? What sense does that make? You are saying people must like the system because there are no reservations?

Let's put it this way Bank of America also has had record profits. Yet they are one of the most despised companies out there. But according to you Record Profits = Great Business

WDW is only one small aspect of the Disney Empire. To think that the Success of the company is due soley to My Magic Plus is a gross missunderstanding. In fact they can have record profits and still run a failing park. I'm not saying that WDW is failing. I am saying however they are setting up for failure

If it's a flaming turd, why on earth have you gone 5 times in less than 5 months?
as I have said many times I love Disney. I hate the new system in place. However I will be ending my Annual pass this year after having it for 6 years.

Of course as we know from the earnings calls Annual Pass holders and Florida residents are the least desirable of all the vistors to the park.

Uni runs a darn good park, we enjoy them greatly. I still prefer WDW as there is just more immersion and more to do for a week for us. Of course WDW should keep an eye on Uni, and on Dreamworks in the movie business. I like the fact that they drive performance from each other. We all win with that going on. :)
oh hey you never did mention how does My Magic Plus make it more immersive ?

A site for rumors about tourism does not equate to "reputable business publication". I saw no hard stats or figures in that article, just the same kind of doom & gloom naysaying that I already see here ad nauseum. Better luck next time.
rumors you say... hmmm perhaps you should read the article

Your Disney bitterness is clouding your ability to reason I think :)

The record setting number of guest I linked was at WDW. That is approval of WDW itself not the Disney company.

Good for you, you clearly do not enjoy the place anymore. Move on already.

would you mind linking to it instead of wasting both of our time?

I already know what I posted so I am not wasting our time, just yours :)

And for a guy that posted how others were not reading the thread you might want to go ahead and follow you own advice and do so

But cause your so nice and pleasant here you go

"FP+ has me secured in knowing that the attractions I want to do I will do weeks in advance, not the day of. No uncertainty at all.
My ADRs and FPs will not collide, again sonething not known until the day of under the old way. I know this now weeks in advance.

We are already planning our park hopping around the FP +, under the old way we would not know when our times were until that day, making Hopping harder to plan.

Hot events like Frozen M&G would be a unknown to us under the old system, I now know we will be able to do it for sure with our FP+, A big improvement for us.

Everything being tied to the MB means no keys, no cards, no paper tickets, just the band to do everything, that's immersion to us.

The possibilities of the MB in the future are great, to tie a unique person to a band gives WDW the ability to do all types of immersive experiences.

The new system is a great improvement to us. If it is not to you that is fine. We all do the parks differently. No one system is going to fit everyone. The system is not going anywhere, I would try to adapt to it or find somewhere to spend my money that better fits my style of visiting. At least that is what I would do. I would not spend thousands of dollars if the trip made me unhappy."

And before you try to tell me what immersive is to me just save the time and don't try, it's personal preference.

LOL oh did I call your response right or what in my post :)

You are so predictable it hurts. Bash Disney, bash anyone who disagrees with your bashing of Disney, repeat until the other party gives up.

You = Disney makes me mad, sad and bitter
Me= Disney makes me smile, stress free and happy

Guess which one I rather be? :)

no not at all

Me I love disney and I love all the disney parks but WDW current trend in removing staff, removing rides, changes in overall quality makes me sad. I will not stay silent and let WDW be ruined by Upper Management who doesn't even enjoy spending time in the parks.

Speaking of this is a major problem I have with the current structure of Disney. I do not feel a company like Disney should be hiring major decision makers who do not have a passion for the parks. I believe that WDW should only promote from inside the company.

Having people who can't explain why WDW or the parks are so special shouldn't be making major decisions about it.

Hmm. Your experience at the current Disney matches my experience at nineties Disney, and 2010's Universal.
We did Disney again this year, and have sworn it off until, to quote a family member, "They build some new things and make it worth your money to stay on site again."

We used to go to Disney every year and there was always something new. We planned this year's trip thinking that the Dwarf Train would be open by then. (My late father's nickname was Happy. Sentimental attachment.)

We do Universal 3-4 times a year and for the past three years, there has always been something new when we went. Even when we thought there wouldn't be anything new on a couple of occasions, there were. And it's quality. I still cannot get over Springfield. Everybody raves about Potter/Transformers/Minions, and rightfully so, but what they pulled off in Springfield captures the spirit of the show's classic years, not just the look. They even know which obscure quotes to put on a t-shirt. It's insane.

I miss the Disney I grew up with, but it's long gone now, and it's too expensive to visit, anyway. When we go to Universal, we get 15-20% off on food and merchandise with our annual passes, and we're paying only $15-$18 a month for those. Plus we get a discount on the rooms, which are our only real expense to budget for. The money just goes so much further, and they're smart enough to always have new stuff to buy, and it's high quality and targets adults. Honestly couldn't find anything - anything - to buy as a souvenir in Disney. And I wanted to spend the money but there just wasn't anything to spend it on.

Have you read your own post? That is not how you come across to me anyways. I sense a deep underlying bitterness to your post. Maybe it's just me though.

I think the one-two punch of having Universal to compare WDW to in Orlando, and the apparently higher-quality Disney parks in Tokyo and Anaheim to compare with WDW, are difficult to overcome. It can be done in Orlando and it can be done with the Disney brand. Why aren't the Orlando Disney parks doing everything they can to be the best of the best?

Universal already imported Transformers to Orlando, so their flagship park wouldn't be missing a ride that's in one of their smaller worldwide parks. But when they decided to start exporting Hogwarts, they built Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Express, keeping the best Potter experience in the flagship parks.

With four parks in Orlando, why do we not have Journey to the Center of the Earth, or Mystic Manor, or Indiana Jones, or even Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin? How can more parks have less? Why can't we get a Christmas overlay on rides, or a smoothed-out Space Mountain experience? Why can't a darn coaster be built in less than five years, for that matter?

WDW costs more than ever, and costs more than its counterparts around the world. Why isn't it in better shape and offering more than all of them combined?

No doubt Uni runs a great park, I favor Toon Lagoon but your right Springfield is very well done indeed :)

I enjoy revisiting the same things at Disney with a topping of new things to see as well. I think there is a lot to look forward to at WDW coming up. But other do not and that is fine as well.

We spent a full week at Uni in June 2013 at the Hard Rock, it just was not as special to us as a week at Disney is. The two parks are not enough to fill a week, and the water park is just not up to the ones at Disney. I am not saying the Uni parks are not great, they are but for a full week they do not have the value WDW has for us. If I could only choose one set of parks for the week it would be Disney. We will continue to vista Uni but I can not see us staying more than two days there in the future.

It's all personal preference, and since we are on a value thread that is key since personal preference is the driving factor behind the value of almost everything in the world.
