Can Universe of Energy be fixed?

After being on it recently I wanted to get out of "Ellen's dream" pretty quickly......Yes, it was a great attraction when it was in it's original state. But, the original is not coming back.

Ellen needs to go and the technology in the film is outdated. Will this be next to go out like Horizons?

I've often been scared that it would go the way of Horizons, but I think they know that a LOT of fans would be very fed up with that kind of "refurbing"...I would hope that they would make it a modern vital and dynamic pavilion.

Last I heard, they WERE looking at new films, so that is comforting.

I HATE Universe of Energy.....45 minutes! The movie is just sooooo booooring! They actually put on the map under UOE "45 Minute presentation" I think people probably started flipping out after a while.....I feel like Im trapped in a boredom tourture chamber....or a REALLY boring Science class from High School, its like flashbacks.

I love UofE just the way it is. Ellen's dream is the best part! "Stupid Judy!!!!" Haa Haaa ! I crack up just thinking about it. I usually ride it 2 times in a row when I go to EPCOT I love it so much! I would invoke the:fork: on TPTB if they touch my ride.

I totally agree, I love EEA, especially the music. It's a great place for a mid-day rest after trekking all over Epcot all day too. Not that I would mind a change, it's certainly outdated.
... isn't that AA one of the presidents?

I agree the ride could probably use some plussing, but maybe it is a sign that something is right with it when my DD5 who usually has an amazingly short attention span went on UoE in July and asked if we could go on it again when we were there in December.

In fact, the only rides she asked to go on at Epcot were The Seas with Nemo, Soarin' and "the one with the dinosaurs" (UoE).

So, it can't be all bad...

Good point. She'll actually be re-famous again, and it may help popularity with this ride.

At the same time, I think she and Alex would love to see an updated filming after getting a look at themselves from.....however many years ago it was filmed. Perhaps they can chisel it down a bit and maybe turn 45-min into 30-min.

There's not a lot they can do to trim down the length of the attraction while keeping the same ride system.

There are two sets of ride vehicles in the building at all times. While one is finishing a show, unloading, loading and running the first film in Theater 1, the other set is going through the diorama and watching the Theater 2 film. Theater 1 is actually empty for only a few moments between one set of cars exiting and the other set entering.

The pause time for unload and load can't be touched because they have to account for loading and unloading a totally full theater, 6 wheelchair Guests, etc etc. So the only place to trim time off would be the Theater 2 film, but that would also require shaving an equal amount of time off of the first Theater 1 film.
The Theater 1 film is only about 4 minutes long, so at most you could shave 8 minutes out of the overall attraction if you totally eliminated the Theater 1 film... (four minutes saved in Theater 1, four saved in Theater 2)

Of course you *can't* get rid of the Theater 1 film entirely, otherwise you're just turning and going straight to the diorama...

Oh geez. I didn't know the timing was so close - and that the delay between load/unload was so short.

There's a lot of turning, but I guess eliminating some of the backtracking after load wouldn't help much either. It's just such a beast of an attraction - and very inflexible, so it seems.

Another vote here for UOE. I would be very dissapointed if they closed it. I find it quite entertaining and as far as I'm concerned the longer and more epic a ride is the better. All UOE needs reall is some good tlc to replace the broken curtains and update the diorama. It'd be great if they reshot the film with a tad bit more current information and locations but Ellen, Jeopardy, Bill Nye, and the phenominal score are what make the ride great. I realize that it isn't everyones cup of tea- there's no thrills, no real wow factor (unless you start to think about the logistics of getting the whole thing to run) but it makes up for it in my mind at least with the story itself and just gigantic scale. So here's hoping to a run for UOE as long as possible.

Hence why I am so nervous they would rip that awesome unique ride system out for a quicker one. :(

It can easily be fixed, just needs some Radok screens, a couple of mirrors, and a big, trippy musical finale with a catchy theme! :D

For the record, the people who say that the Universe of Energy is boring and too long absolutely drives me nuts. Don't you get any sense of wonder at the epic scale of our Universe, and the sheer power behind it? And Ellen isn't even enough of a sugar-coating for you to enjoy it? If that's not your thing, that's fine, just stop visiting EPCOT, and leave it for those of us who want something with substance instead of drivel like Nemo and Test Track.

I think they can either redo the ride with Ellen and Bill Nye. Or have DHARMA take over and you are suddenly transported to a mysterious island full of electromagnetic energy.
