Can someone explain to the new girl...

Thanks everyone...So far, so good. Everyone has been very helpful, but be very careful because this new girl has pegged some of you as buddies! I've been checking out the threads and think that you all know WAY TOO MUCH about Disney! Which is good for me, since I will have more questions about my vacation to ask. I guess this puts me in the third category of vacationer looking for tips and info from the 'experienced' Disney goers. I promise that I won't take advantage, never to return again after my trip is over. Hell, I have 3 little ones, I'm going to need your (the experts here) help for the next 18 years it seems. (Is hell and acceptable term?)

I live too far away to be a news/rumor person, but maybe if I post enough and take enough trips, maybe one day I can become a Senior Member and help the next new girl, or guy for that matter.

Anyway...I didn't get much of a reply on a prior thread...what do you all think about Saratoga Springs? Is it too far away from the action? I'm going with 3 little ones and am worried about the bus service. For those of you not interested in answering that because your 'not into' the vacationer looking for information...don't worry I won't be offended. You can stick to the 'clique' issue, if you so choose!

Note to Thrawn and WDWWishes2005 - Am I going to get busted here for switching topics in the middle of a thread. Or is it okay to switch gears as long as the thread started out in the right board? I already used my first pass on this one :)

Hope you didn't think I was singling you out because I wasn't, just expounding on what you said.

Good gosh no!!! I realized that maybe I should try to clarify what I meant based on the replies written. And also to make sure that no one thinks I am down on all the people here. I enjoy reading different posts, and the like. Those times when people have responded have always been positive. So that is why I wonder why so many times I try to contribute, I get narry a reply. The same core group tends to talk mostly among themselves. And I was trying to convey this to LCK123 as to why replies seem to be slow or nonexistant.

doesnt matter to me if you start a thread about EE construction then talk about flying monkeys later on, as long as the original post was on topic.

also, the words unacceptable are censored anyway so i doubt hell is onsidered bad.

Poor thing... did anyone ever answer this for you?? Here is what I think of Saratoga: it isn't that far away from things and they offer excellent bus service. You are also walking distance to DTD (Downtown Disney). The resort is beautiful and brand spankin' new!

I live here in Orlando and one of my favorite things to do after a night at PI (Pleasure Island) is walk over to the outside bar at HoB (House of Blues) and pick up a drink then stroll over to Saratoga and sit on one of the rocking chairs facing the lagoon and watch the midnight fireworks over PI.

Hope that helps.. if you have any specific questions you can PM me. I tend to lurk around here because of the "groups".. but we newbies need to stick together!!!

Well... if you ever do want to be part of the "groups" feel free to venture into chit-chat so people can get to know you

and... I would have answered that question... but I don't know what Saratoga Springs is

Then you've got trip planners - they seem to have good intentions, but they're not gonna stick around. Once their trip is over you might get a trip report. I think they're like fair-weather friends and needy ones at that. "Tell me this.." "I need to know.." and then once their trip is done they're gone. I think it's rude. Just my opinion.

Well, (and I realize it's "just your opinion" and I'm not trying to take you to task on it) but I don't see where anybody owes us anything. See, apparently, there are these people out there, with these things called "lives"? I dunno... I hear they can be kinda cool. But apparently they like to keep them intact rather than play and fight with us here. :(

I've met their kind before...I don't like them....

Yeah, nobody signs a lifetime membership card around here.

Just another "Hello and welcome to the boards"

A great place to get to know the weird folks on here is in Chit Chat. It won't increase your post count as posts in there are not added to that total.

There are a few argumentative types on here, if you find members you don't get on with, then don't read their posts or even block them. Other than that enjoy the mayhem.

I think some new members posts don't get replies as the long time members have already had a fill of the Harry Potter ride, the expansion of the monorail and fake new members that are past trolls returning to try and stir things up.

However, I have a fun time on here because there are so many friendly types around and I've been fortunate enough to meet quite a few of them in the real world.

Okay, the bantering has been entertaining and it gives me a pretty good perspective of what goes on in here sometimes, but I'm still missing something....

I'm not sure how to say this without inevitably insulting some of you, so please don't take this the wrong way...

I'm one of those people who are looking for planning information on this site. Folks have been helpful and are answering my questions....Now, if you didn't have people like me here...

Okay, I'm having a hard time, so let me simply be blunt...
I'm a fan of WDW....have been quite a few times and now that I have kids, I expect that we will go every year or every other (Bermuda and Hawaii are my destinations of choice), BUT...I wouln't consider myself a WDW NUT.

Are there that many people that love WDW so much that they would waste (not a good word choice, but am using it for lack of another word) hours upon hours of time simply discussing everything Disney?

I understand conversation about new events, rides, corporate news, etc....but just hours and hours of Disney chat all the time? Isn't it good to have folks like us looking for information that you 'Disney Experts' can provide valuable information to...rather than discussing how many spots the 101st dalmation has???? Again, I don't mean to offend......

Whether you want to chat about Disney or find answers to your questions, this board will fulfill both. Just keep in mind that if there weren't people here that were discussing everything Disney all the time, then the planners wouldn't have the "experts" to turn to. See my point?

 Have you taken a look around chit-chat? Very, VERY few of us chat all Disney, all the time.

I'll keep an eye on developments at the parks, the rest of the time on here I just catch up with friends or spend some time in Chit Chat, where as Erika & Connor pointed out the talk can get very un-Disney ;)

Ah yes.. one day I will post on my beloved "Hugglesville" thread! (Or I suppose now it is Hugglefest).

A while back I asked a question and got battered with neg rep points.. and just sort of gave up on the board. I live and work two miles from WDW, really I'm only here to contribute to folks that have questions. So when I was getting near a little red box just for an innocent question I threw my hands up and stopped posting. But I'm a dedicated lurker.. and Erika, you've always been so kind!!
