Can anyone translate these requests?

I got a AAA itinerary and was curious what some of these requests for the resort mean. It says:

Polynesian-Garden View
Please Note: REQ KGBD
Please Note: REQ TAHITI NON GTD

Now obviously I know what the REQ TAHITI means(by the way, is this a good pick for a longhouse? I picked it because it seemed be in a good location, next to TTC and I heard it may have 2 sinks). Does anyone know what REQ KGBD or NON GTD means?

You requested a king bed, you also requested tahiti, but it's not guaranteed - and to be perfectly honest unless you paid for a king bed it isn't either nor is tahiti.

To add, i dont even know if tahiti has king beds in the type of room you booked - that'd be worth looking into.

Disney hotels are not like most hotels that have "standard" rooms then have a choice of a king or two queen beds.

Looked it up, from wdwig.com polynesian fact sheet:

Are any king size beds available?

Yes. However, king size beds are only available as part of a suite. (Suites are only in Tonga house btw)

And the tahiti rooms are part of the polynesians rennovation (when they expanded the resort and added longhouses) so the rooms have more square footage then some of the older long houses. So, that's a plus. It's the last one before the TTC - so you're farthest from the ceremonial house, but you are just like 5 mins from the TTC station if you get that long house.

It means you want to sleep in a King Bed in the Tahitti buliding which in not Guarenteed while looking out the windows at some plants....not the parking lot but if you are looking at the lagoon at no additional charge it would be OK. . . . . . Ive made the same kind of requests before.

Now that I know what it means...yes I know that Poly didn't have them. My Travel Agent must have left those on the reservation from last time. I changed from PO:FQ/Cont. to Poly. So I guess I'll just leave those on there...not big deal in having them there.

So Tahati is good choice? I don't see myself going to the Great ceremonial house THAT much.

I requested Fiji: even though all of Fiji is considered garden view, on one side you have a view of the beach, the GF and monorail, and on the other side is a view of the marina and Nanea Volcano pool.

Tahiti has bigger rooms compared to the older longhouses (but not by much) and some of the bathrooms have double sinks. It also the closest to the TTC.

Either way, you're at Poly! Enjoy!

The GCH houses the main resort areas, restaurants, arcade, shops, guest services, monorail stop, and coffee shop. It is also close to the bus stops. I can't imagine staying at the Poly and not hitting the GCH at least once a day just to get coffee or a pop from Captain Cooks. (Our fav resort, stayed there 10 out of 20 visits to WDW.) The best building IMHO is Raratonga. Out one door you are steps from the GCH and out the other you are steps from the bus stops. You are close to both pools as well. Check out www.tikiman2001.homestead.com for a great site dedicated to the Polynesian Resort.

We've stayed in Tahiti twice, and have requested it for our Dec. '08 trip. We love the bigger rooms, the double sinks, the fact that there are no "fake" balconies, and most of all, the proximity to the TTC.

Great choice! ;)

First of all, Tikiman has the best Poly site ever. It is so informative and gives you details you didn't even know you wanted to know.

As for getting a specific room, I would call or fax the specific resort (not the 407-WDISNEY) number about a week - 10 days before you go with your room requests. The last time I went (2006), I HAD to have a non-smoking room since our family is full of asthmatics, and I called to make sure that request was in there. In the process, we also got upgraded from a Standard to a Woods view room at that time instead of at check in, so that was awesome! Check out allearsnet.com for more info on the numbers.

As long as the price goes UP there is no penalty for changing a part of the reservation.

Just make sure you do it before it's gone (as in not available) or too late for them to do it in the system (it has to download X number of hours out) i forget exactly how many.

we stayed at Poly in Tahiti last May--wonderful rooms, great balconies (we were on the top floor facing lake, so we had a wonderful Castle view, but could tell some views would have been blocked by vegetation.) Best of all was that we could walk to the TTC to catch monorail & Ferry to MK. Even at the end of the day, it was a short-enough walk

Thanks for your opinions! Sounds like I made a good choice. Tikiman himself approves Tahiti! I am hoping that, travelling in the off season, I might end up with a upgrade to a lagoon view. Here's hopin'!

Question for all of you >21. Do they let you take any of the drinks you order at the lounge across from ohana back to your room? It sounds like it would be nice to get a drink one evening and enjoy it on the walk back or on the balcony :) Any recommendations?
