Can anyone tell me what this building used to be?

They used to scare the crap out of me mainly because I am scared of heights! :D
Me too! I am tense when I have been on something like that! I lose it when they lurch forward and stop , or go by a pole. I am no fun to ride anything like that with....I was on the ones at WDW only once in 1978, my first trip.

Here ya go:

Re: Photo 2... Now that is one HELL of a Standby line... And this was back when they actually used the full interior loading area queue. (Though if it were an extremely hot day, I heard that sometimes they'd "stack" Guests outside to keep the air-conditioning inside from getting overwhelmed)

I think the only time I rode in these was my trip to DL a long time ago. I never had an experience at MK.

But weren't they pulled out becasue someone took a dive out of one? Or was that simply urban Disney Legend?

They were just OK. I wasn't very inspired to take another trip. The top of the Fantasyland buildings simply wasn;t very inspiring.

Since Disney is so dedicated to keeping up the illusion, I wonder if that may be part of the reason for getting rid of the skyway. When you're up in those cars, looking down on the roofs of the buildings, probably with gum and stuff on them, that probably doesn't help to maintain the magical illusion that they're trying to portray. Unless, of course, they took the skyway into account when doing the roofs of the buildings, and made sure that they fit into the illusion as well. But I'm sure they had to spend alot of time scraping gum off of the rooftops.

You`d have had to have been a good shot to get anything onto the roofs - even in Fanatsyland. The cables tracked down the Fland plaza between the buildings. One of the reasons stated publically was seeing the rooftops was badshow.

I used to love the Skyway, but it did ruin the illusion of the MK when you could see the tops of the buildings and what was behind fantasy land. Also during the summer I remember long waits in the heat to ride it. I just thought they would have used the spaces of where the loading docks are a little better, come on imagineers get to it.

I dunno, to be completely honest I dont miss them all that much. They were a bit of an eye soar. It was a neat way to get from Fantasy Land over to Tomorrowland though. When 20k was still there i used to LOVE looking down on the subs going in and out of the caves.

Sorry... couldn't miss the opportunity to point out how perfectly this mis-spelling works here. Pun intended, or lucky oversight? Either way, I like it!!!!!:D
Carry on.

Yeah, the first time I visited WDW it had the Birthday Cake Castle, and since I had not seen it before, it really did not bother me as much as it did other folks.

The Birthday Cake Castle was one of the tackiest things that disney has done, it looked horrible. It totally took away from the entire park. I remember walking down main street and looking at it and wanting to be sick.
