I´m back.... and I guess you didn´t even read that I was leaving! :(
I went to see that movie Kandahar... I still don´t know if it was a true story, but could be. I learned a lot about the costumes in Afghanistan under the Taliban.... I´m so thankful to live here! :)

Other than that... not much else... Tomorrow I´ll go see an italian movie with Isabella Rosellini called "Il cielo cade" - The sky falls. Anyone has seen it?

Gary, great slogan!! I guess your wife loves it too! :animwink:

Hi All:wave:

Just got done with dinner. I have to watch a sappy romance movie with Linda soon, but I thought I'd check in.

Bish, do you have to work every Friday and Saturday night?:(

Maria, I think ( but I'm not sure) I heard that this movie was the big thing in Afghanistan just after it was liberated. People were making movie theaters by hanging sheets on the walls of buildings.

Does it seem like this could have been the one I am thinking of?

No... this one was made in 2000 and it´s the story of a reporter who left Afghanistan when she was little, but her sister stayed there. She goes back there trying to find her before she commits suicide before the last eclipse of the century, according to a letter from her that she received.

I'm a bit enbarrassed to admit this is the kind of movie I always feel like I should see but never do.

When Friday or Saturday night comes around and we're trying to decide between the deep, meaningful film that examines man's inhumanity to man and the idiotic comedy about the high school kid who is transformed from geek to stud, the idiotic comedy just always seems to win.

Gary, it happens everywhere.... :animwink:
What is sadder I think is that these kind of good movies don´t stay too long in theaters here. For instance, this one was only today as part of some movie festival here which didn´t have much publicity. I went to the first showing at 3pm, and we were only 4 people in the whole theater... I hope it picked up later in the evening.
There is time for everything, for those silly comedies and for serious movies too, but it seems like we keep postponing the second ones. :animwink:

Ssssshhh. Not too loud. I'm supposed to be watching "While you were sleeping" with Linda. I have to keep making little comments about what's going on so she thinks I'm paying attention.
