Calling All 20-Something Guys (And Everyone Else!!!)

I'm enlisting the help of 20-something guys, and everyone else!

In January, I will be taking my very reluctant 22 year old boyfriend to WDW for his first ever trip. He's almost certian that it's all Cinderella and Mickey Mouse, and is sure everything will be corny. I'm out to prove him wrong!

We will be going to Epcot one day, and hopping from the Magic Kingdom and MGM another day. We WON'T be going to Animal Kingdom. We may do Blizzard Beach if it isn't too cold. We probably won't do Disney Quest, and might think about going to Pleasure Island.

Now here is where you all come in... What are some things that a 22 year old male "newbie" would find fun? I'd like some firsthand perspective!!!

Thanks!!!

Well I think that you have it a bit backwards. I had the opportunity in May to go to Disney with some friends of mine from work. The guy in question was just 21. He loved MGM even more than EPCOT ( which he did not expect) He thought Animal Kingdom was just amazing. He enjoyed the other two parks as well, but Disney isnt about the real world. I would tell you to forget what you know, and go for the unexpected!!! Nothing is as it seems there. You know him better than we do though. Id definitely plan a nicer dinner such as O'Hanas in the Polynesian or one of the great restaurants in WS. From there the sky is the limit!!! Belle

We kind of have to go to Epcot because we are going on the trip with my parents... we have a day in which we can do whatever we want... if he suggests AK, then we will do AK!

I know I know him the best, all I am asking for are suggestions!

Re:

Epcot is largely an adult park, so you should be fine there. Definitely hit Test Track, Mission Space, a nice restaurant along the World Showcase, etc.

Since you're going in January, the parks will probably close early, meaning you'll have to pack a lot into the day where you hop between MK and MGM.

In MK you can do all the Mountains and Haunted Mansion-- do Stitch, Pirates and Jungle Cruise if you have time.

In MGM, do Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Star Tours-- do the Backlot Tour, Muppets, Millionaire and Indiana Jones if you have time.

There, that keeps him off all the kiddie rides :)

Oh, and definitely do Downtown Disney/PI one night.

I would suggest you find a new boyfriend. :lookaroun

Nah, seriously, make sure you take him by ToT and RnRC at the Studios. Take some time to dig around World Showcase if he's into culture at all. Spend a few hours at DTD just looking around. TT and M:S would prolly be good bets at Epcot, although I'm not particularly wowed by either ride myself. Have dinner at a nice restaurant, preferably at one of the resorts, away from the park madness. Stroll down the Boardwalk one morning or afternoon. That's off the top of my head.

As a 24 year old,

I enjoyed MGM the most because of the more thrilling rides in Disney... TOT Aerosmith RNRC, Star Tours, and Indiana Jones are great action rides and shows... I enjoyed Future World with TT and MS and Innoventions, but the WS was not for me, because all it was a lot of walking, and a lot of eating... And AK can be done in less than 2 hours if you get there early...

Im a 25 year old male, my buddy brian also 25 i took him when i visited my girlfriend when she was working there. We both had a great time bought a bunch of saki and partied all night cause it rained all day sadly. but when we were out of things to do, the lovely ladies of norway were a good distraction. my advice is drop him off there and go shopping if he gets out of control. then call me :animwink:

24-year old male here. Let me first state that I am a little biased since I have been going to WDW since I was born, so I love every aspect of it. I grew up in Miami and that was the only place my crazy family went on vacation. That being said, I am still pretty much a typical guy. I enjoy hockey, violent movies/video games and girls in bikinis.

Ok, you said you might go to Pleasure Island and definetly not Disney Quest. I think you're nuts! Those would be the first things I would want to do. MGM and EPCOT I think are the most interesting as far as adventure and futuristic themes. Tower of Terror, Rock 'N Rollercoaster, Star Tours and the Indy Stunt Spectacular are all great at MGM. EPCOT has Test Track and Mission Space as well as all the food out in the countries.

On that note, food is pretty important to guys, espcially those of us that can really pack it away. I say go to some buffets. I recommend Boma's and Cape May. Personally, I love Chef Mickey's, but my guess is that's not his style.

If you guys can handle the "cold" weather, go to one of the water parks. My Florida blood is too thin to be in the water then, but northerners are swimming in the winter there all the time.

Finally, there is nothing wrong with a little cheezy magic. Go to the Magic Kingdom. You don't have to ride Dumbo or get Mickey's autograph, but there are so many different rides there, he's bound to like something. If he can't have fun in the MK, he's obviously evil and you should find a new friend. Hope this was helpful!

With only two days, I can understand why DQ isn't at the top of your list, but all the guys in our party were drooling to go back there last trip! (from ages 12-40!) We set them loose and went shopping! I love DQ, but I also like the shops at DD, it was a tough choice for me, but in the end, the guys enjoyed guy time, and we enjoyed our time. Space Mountain, Splash, Dinasaur! and Rock and Roller Coaster were the favorite rides.

After Mk I think that Epcot is the most impressive. The WS alone is a remarkable unit and plus it has tons of yummy food! I agree with the buffet idea. Biergarten is a buffet and they also have a show while you eat and lot's of drinking (you'll be yelling OI,OI,OI for days) and it is priced a little lower than the rest of the WS table dining, but still in the $10-$20 range. When my hubby started going he was 23 and he really liked epcot and mgm as well. I think MGM has alot of rides that are tailored to guys (not that we don't love them too). star tours, Indiana Jones, TOT, RNR...Fantasmic is impressive as well if you have never seen it before. If there is a choice to make though I would take him to Illuminations. You know him better than we do so if you guys like night life take him to pleasure island but if they don't have anything like Disney Quest where you're from you should go there. I have yet to meet a guy who doesn't love to game. And these aren't all run of the mill games!:)
Point is, you can drink anywhere. It's not everyday that you can build your own rollercoaster.:D
Don't forget to take him to a character breakfast after the Disney bug bites. Once newbies relax a bit, they really get into stuff like that.
Good luck and tell us how it went!

Definitely hit all of the attractions that sound MANLY...

The following rules will apply as manly:

1-Any attraction with the word Mountain in its name.
2-Any attraction with the word Space in its name.
3-Any attraction that represents fear (ie Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror)
4-Any attraction that involves traveling at a high rate of speed (Indy Speedway does not count.)
5-Any attraction that involves a trigger. (Buzz counts here)
6-Any attraction that involves hurling large objects more than 25 feet (I'm still looking for this one).

You forgot
#7-Any attraction that involves belching at will.
#8-Any attraction in which fair damsels must be rescued.
and finally
#9-Any attraction with the warning, "only manly men need enter (you know who you are!)"

Don't be mad...I couldn't resist!!:p

I think others captured the parks and attractions pretty well. I would reiterate that at Epcot and MGM there are superior restaurants and beverages available if that is to his liking. Some buffets were listed, there are others that would be attractive if he is a bottomless pit.

For fun you could take him to dine in Morocco where they have some really nice floor entertainment.

Evening shows weren't mentioned. Everyone likes fireworks, right? There is Illuminations at 9 in Epcot and Wishes in the MK. I would also suggest DTD and Pleasure Island. Cirque du Soleil is great, but may not be to his liking now. Pleasure Island has clubs for all tastes, from dance to retro to the comedy club to Adventurer's Club.

Then there is a whole range of activities outside of the parks, watersports including watermice and parasailing, golf, horseback riding and the like. Check out www.allearsnet.com for a very comprehensive summary of options.

Actually I'm mad at myself for not thinking of them.

My husband is 28 and he loves going on the Water Sprits or Water Mouse'? Disney Quest is also a great time as well as PI. Animal Kingdom is good with the Rapids and Dinosaur. Hope he has a great time....Good luck!

I'm a 27 year old man here, and my favorite thing to do in EPCOT is to go to the Biergarten in the Germany pavillion and get a 64oz beer and eat all the German food I can handle. Mmmmmmmmm.....:slurp: The 8 inch tall, 64oz. glass of Becks will be sure to take his mind off of any of the "Mickey and Cinderella" preconceptions he may have. However I would not recommend doing this before hitting Mission:Space. LOL!!

Visiting the various parks with a bunch of baseball players during Spring Training, I'd say 20-something men prefer Epcot the most of all the parks. It's fun to sit in each of the countries, have a few drinks, and see what female cast members (particularly in Norway) we could meet up with at Pleasure Island later in the night. I guess as his girlfriend you would not be too thrilled with the female cast part of it, though.
