LA County finally dropping the indoor mask mandate way ahead of schedule tomorrow. Universal Studios has already announced a drop in mask and vaccine requirements on the same day that LA County drops the indoor mask mandate. Vaccine or covid test check still required at mega indoor events

Wait so does this mean LA county has dropped the vaccine mandate? I guess so if USH got rid of it but all the talk has been in regards to masks and not the vaccine mandate which are two different things (or at least I thought they were). I called my gym today and they said they re still checking vaccination records.

I guess they missed the memo.

I don't think it was decided as they did not have a choice if it is under the California law a Super event, which they define as an indoor convention attended by a thousand or more people. Unless I missed that change as well? I see the face covering required may have been up to the host though.

But in LA City (because they like to be different than the county because...um...) you still have to show an ID and vax card to enter a restaurant or theater under SafePass LA which is still in effect.

So in Hollywood you have to show an ID/vax card, but in West Hollywood, you don't because....science.

I had thought that all restrictions had been removed. But after looking at the regulations for California it does state its vaccination or testing can be done for indoor mega events and that mask are only required for non vaccinated attendees. So if all are vaccinated they should not need to wear a mask but Reedpop still decided to require it.

Wondercon is in April at the Convention Center and they are choosing to allow vaccinated or testing to enter. They are requiring all entrants to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status.

A business or event can still decide to have a mask or vaccine requirement even if the state isn't mandating one.

I've been on federal jury duty this week, and they are still requiring a mask be worn at all times no matter vaccine status even though the county and state dropped the mandate. So its up to each venue, in my case the chief judge of the district, on what they are going to require. And I'd like to see someone argue with a federal marshal about how they don't have to wear a mask due to the mask mandate being dropped while still trying to enter a federal courthouse. ;)

So I imagine this is going to be the norm for at least the first half of this year, if not the rest of the year, that each venue will decide on what they are going to require for masking.

I got an email from the Music Center:

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING OUR MASK POLICY

For the time being, we will continue to require masks, along with proof of full vaccination and booster at all of our venues. This is consistent with the commitments we have made with our artists, staff, and audiences to ensure their safety. Please note that Los Angeles County has not lifted the mask mandate on County buildings.

I was hesitant to do a Costco run but realized it wasn't because of the pandemic but because I hate shopping. So I will happily continue to do delivery and curbside pickups.

I was a Price Club member back in the day, then it got turned into Costco. But I let my Costco membership expire, because I finally realized decades too late that I don't actually need 5 pound jars of mayonnaise. 🤣

But for families, or people who can plan their pantries better than me, Costco is a great deal. But also not much fun on a weekend, so I don't blame you for doing curbside pickup.

And while we're OT, I noticed your Music Center post above. Just before Covid hit I had planned to take an architectural tour of the Music Center in spring 2020, but it was obviously cancelled. That is such a fantastic and gorgeous facility! A true LA gem. I need to see about taking that tour again ASAP, if they still offer them.
