Cake Bake Shop Madness

There was a Bibibop restaurant near me that took nearly a year to complete. And this was their 30-something restaurant opened so you would think they would just cut/paste the design from one place into the next. And a Turkey Hill gas station/car wash near me took over a year and a half to build.

So after watching those two projects, Disney construction timelines don't seem so long any more. Apparently it takes a long to build anything.

There is a Sonic being built across the street from my workplace. They broke ground two years ago, and are nowhere near finished. And every Sonic Drive-In I have ever seen is nearly identical. Really makes Disney's pace seem reasonable.

Just because something look similar does not mean it is similar. There are sorts of things that can and will vary based on location. And even if they were identical they aren’t being built by the same contractors every time. Then there are all sorts of issues that can stall work with simply running out of money being a common one.

There's no way this place makes it with the square footage they'll have and the amount of product they'll have to sell. Cake slice pricing start at $15.

Yes, spending that $15 on … *checks notes* two macarons at Les Halles is a much better value proposition.

Sure, my point was just that if it can take a year and a half to build a gas station, the the times for attractions and restaurants at Disney seem more reasonable.

I'm well aware, I'm a project manager in the construction industry. I was just pointing out that Disney isn't the only company that takes forever on construction projects...

Honestly, I can't wait for this to be turned into a new concept already. I'll be walking past this every time I walk to Epcot. At least the ESPN zone was a good place to watch the game with the family. Food was less than desirable however.

I think folks are vastly underestimating the bachelor parties and wedding events that will be booked at this location once it opens.

Clearly the ESPN concept had run its course or it wouldn't have been replaced.

You mean bachelorette parties? ESPN Zone certainly needed a refresh but it easily could have been done. Just go to City Works at Disney Springs. Something as simple as that with a bit more theming would have worked. Perhaps making a covered outdoor patio area as part of the refresh.

This is a place that gets people to pay their crazy prices in Indiana. It’s not some unknown concept.

You mean bachelorette parties? ESPN Zone certainly needed a refresh but it easily could have been done. Just go to City Works at Disney Springs. Something as simple as that with a bit more theming would have worked. Perhaps making a covered outdoor patio area as part of the refresh.

Bachelorette parties like my cousin's was wild and crazy in Vegas. At WDW, I can't picture that.
