Cab vs. Mears?

To be honest I have never taken Mears or a cab. Normally have a rental car. Does anyone know the prices of each and the positives and negatives of each. All input would be great. All I have heard is that Mears stops at way too many places and it takes forever to get to your hotel.

Where are you trying to get to/from?

You cannot book Mears to get from Orlando International Airport to a Disney-owned resort (or the reverse), you need to use Disney's Magical Express.

And if you ARE referring to Disney's Magical Express, I don't know where you heard that they "stop at way too many places" and that "it takes forever"...

They each service several resorts that are in the same general vicinity -- if by "Way too many stops" you mean three -- and if "it takes forever" for you means 45 minutes, then you are right. Take a cab.

Here is a link to the Mears site for reservations:

Also here is a link to Quicksilver, who is also a sponsor of these boards:

I havent used the Mears service for getting to WDW in years thanks to DME but they did take forever the last time I used them to get me to my resort. I have used Quicksilver in the past and my boss Pam from Kingdom Konsultant Travel wont use anyone else. I found them prompt, courteous and would definitely use them again for a towncar type of service. Belle

Another vote for Quicksilver here. We used them in June and they're picking us up in 2 days time to take us to the Poly. They even took our resort change in stride when I called to let them know we had switched resorts from POFQ to Poly 4 weeks out from our trip.

We have used Quicksilver a trip when staying at the Swan. It worked out very nicely (grocery stop is a great perk). For our upcoming trip, we decided to skip DME and use Quicksilver.

Not old, just vintage.
I used Quicksilver last December to get me from the airport to an offsite hotel that was about 5 min from Disney. The charge was $100. It was a lot of money, but the service was great. They were very fast and friendly.

yes thats my issue though. 100 dollars for two people is quiete costly. I want the cheapest possible way. I dont know anyone who has taken a cab , but my estimate is that its about 60 each way , which is too much for me.

$60 is about right for a cab. I took a cab last Oct to Pop Century because I was on a tight schedule and couldn't wait for Magical Express.

Hmm. Looks like I will be going with Mears. I would love to do quicksilver, but the money just is not there. (since there is only two of us). Just used the Mears price request and it came out to 66 dollars roundtrip for two of us. I hope that it is a quick service.

Son and I drive down and husband flies in few days later and always uses Mears. Its $20 from airport to motel or a round trip is $33. He finds this service worth the $ and will be using it again in February. It saves me from having to drive to the airport to pick him up.

still too costly since there is only two of us. But thanks for the help. I think I am just going to suck it up and take mears.

It may have changed since the last time I used Mears (admittedly a LONG time ago) Just make sure you budget in some extra time as well. The last time I took Mears it was almost 2 hours to get to my resort. Have a great time! Belle
