Trip Report C’mon Everybody, Here We Go….*COMPLETED*

Think of all the joy you’ll find
When you leave the world behind
And bid your cares goodbye!

Ahh, a relaxing getaway from reality. No cares or concerns. Just bliss.

Not exactly a perfect picture of vacationing at Walt Disney World during Spring Break, is it?

But we’re going anyway. We’re Spring Break Veterans and it’s time for the annual reunion.

Two years ago we missed out on our usual adventure thanks to Covid. The stay-at-home vacation just wasn’t the same! (Although you can read about it here: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-“no-trip”-trip-report-completed.964173/)

Last year we were able to return, albeit under Covid protocols. We believed that enduring masks 24/7, plexiglass and vinyl dividers on attractions, mobile order Door Nazis and limited shopping/dining/entertainment would be acceptable in exchange for the very low crowds that we’d experienced on earlier pandemic trips. But the parks were packed and we ended up spending a lot of time at the pool (which wasn’t a bad thing. We’re pool people.)

Now that park capacity has increased and nearly all Covid restrictions are gone, we expect to find the shoulder-to-shoulder spring break crowds of yore. And long lines. So we’re packing our patience and “It is what it is” attitudes.

Because in spite of all the negatives WDW is still our happy place.

We can’t wait.

Who: Tuvalu and Em
When: April 3-9, 2022
Where: Our favorite moderate resort

My plan is to go live upon our departure. Fingers crossed that Disney WiFi will be my friend.

Speaking of friends, we hope to meet up with a few. You’ll have to follow along to see if we do.

No picture of the Welcome to Florida sign.

I was driving and Em was sleeping.

I haven’t mastered @wdisney9000 ‘s ability to take pictures while driving. (On second thought, perhaps that isn’t the wisest goal to master. 🤣)

But to prove we made it to Florida, I just took this shot of the entrance to Ocala Palms Golf Community for Adults. Ocala is about an hour north of WDW. Home to Ohio retirees and not particularly kid friendly. (Ask my adult children.)

Apparently I can’t take a decent picture from the car as a passenger either!

We refueled and grabbed a quick bite at a McD’s across the street. Em was surprised she was allowed inside, because in order to work or eat at this location you have to be over the age of 60. Back braces were worn by all employees. I told Em they are likely a standard part of the uniform.

Two men were working in the lobby. Their job seemed to be delivering food and then making conversation with guests trying to eat. A senior lady behind Em insisted on commenting to me about one of the men. Problem was I couldn’t hear a word she was saying, so I just kept smiling and nodding.

One of the men came by to talk with us four times in the ten minutes we were sitting at our table.

“I didn’t know we were dining at 50s Prime Time,” Em quietly muttered.
I live in Ocala not too far from there!!!

We need time for things to happen.
A couple of things.

First off super excited to once again have a @Tuvalu TR to get me hyped for my upcoming trip. ♥️ wooHOO!!

Secondly, I just realized where my aversion to gif in TR comes from. Having to scroll & click through 373 pages of us telling you we're excited for your TR before actually getting to your TR. 😂😂😂😂😂

It's guess it's good to be loved and appreciated.
I will endure the years of carpal tunnel pain for another TR of yours! Following along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*RANT RE: Disney IT*

French Quarter has still not been added to the Early Entry system. The CM scanned my band and we were denied. He asked me to pull up my resort reservation on my phone…which took awhile thanks to slow WiFi….and then he let us in.

We had the same issue on our trip in December.

Inexcusable.

*End Rant*
We were at French Quarter just 3 weeks ago and had no issues with early entry any morning of our trip. That's too bad you had it now twice. Hopefully it's just a one off glitch and you have no issues tmrw.

So there are people younger than 60 who live in that area….(just kidding, of course!) Thanks for reading.

For you, Enzo, no gifs in this reply.
Really appreciative of your patient sacrifice in enduring my gif game. I have fun with it, but I know that not everyone shares my enthusiasm.
I am touched that you still follow along.
And I hope you have an amazing vacation!

Oh, How I envy you and EM for staying at our "home" resort of POFQ. The pictures are beautiful and make me homesick. We just love that resort.
I can't believe that girl only wore slipper socks! What? You really see some sights at WDW.
Enjoying disney through your eyes:)
I’ll try to get in a few more POFQ pictures for you!

Looks like a great morning, aside from some missing friends :(
I have to say that we waited a little less for SDD, but decided it was well worth the wait and would even wait a bit longer for it. We LOVED that ride :)
Em and I agreed Slinky was worth the wait! (It’s also a lovely day with a nice breeze. Our answer may have been different had it been 100% summer humidity!)

Trying to catch while we parkhop! ❤️Very hard to do that!🤣
Then STOP and enjoy your surroundings! 😉

I love Em's haircut - so pretty on her! I have an appointment on Friday to get my hair done and I might have to pull up this trip report to show my stylist!
Enjoying following along!
Em was flattered by your comment. She just visited her stylist on Saturday and is glad to know it was money well spent!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve taken a screenshot of my resort info in case I need it tomorrow!

These two fellas were turned away by the mobile order door Nazis.

Em and I are smart. We mobile ordered earlier and are awaiting the notification that we can enter without being rebuked.

The door Nazis are in front of the Commissary too. So many people are crowded around that tight, narrow walkway and we had difficulty passing through.

“Just let them inside!” Em says. “There’s more room IN the restaurant than there is outside.”

Can’t argue with her logic. Disney, are you listening?

My phone buzzes. It is time.

Four bucks for a beverage that isn’t even topped off??

Sigh. I carry the tray upstairs and outside, where Em has secured a table with a view.

Pepperoni for her, veggie for moi. Purse carrots….that AREN’T purse carrots….for both. We ate them!

Both pizzas are hot and freshly prepared. I had to wait several minutes for them after I got to the pick up station. We sit and lunch, enjoying our prime people-watching location.
