Yeah wondering if they repainted the whole ride and made any upgrades.Did Buzz reopen? If so, how does it look?

If it is, hopefully a true upgrade is not to far behind. What I want to know is the Shanghai version of their Buzz the same ride layout with different scenes?
I rode it on the 12th. Normally avoid it because of long waits (not a fan of it either). It was down for a good chunk of the evening, but came back online while most guests were distracted with fireworks. I was in the area on the Peoplemover and decided to hop on while the line was short. "Lucky" me lol...
The Buzz animatronic in the queue was functioning, but they really need to crank the lighting down on the figure, it's too bright and messes with the facial projection. They seemed to be having serious issues getting the ride running, it stopped countless times while I was waiting to board (only making it a few feet each time they managed to get it moving). This persisted even when I boarded, I got stuck for quite a few minutes between the loading area and the first rotating scene.
The ride itself was filthy. Not only has the ride clearly not been painted in many years, it also hasn't received simple cleaning in a very long time either. There's mold caked on numerous walls, ceilings and floors. It persists throughout the ride, but most visible in the first scene with the rotating set and disco ball. The UV black lighting makes it extremely noticeable because it causes the mold to glow a sickly dull white (on surfaces that should be entirely black if they were kept properly clean). It's distracting and disgusting.
I also got stuck in the second scene for a long time. The worklights came on and the railing popped up (thought we'd be evac'ed but they ended up fixing it). The work lights illuminated a lot of problems you'd never normally see. I wouldn't complain about these issues since they're invisible under show lighting, but i'm mentioning them here because they may be the source for other more visible issues. A number of the ceilings look like they've received very cheap and shoddy patch jobs (with parts that looked like they were warping or bowing). Again not normally visible, but it makes me suspect the building has (or had) a leaky roof in recent years and could explain the mold. Either way the maintenance and refurb crews aren't painting or even cleaning the surfaces...
The rotating red spotlight scene (a remnant of Dreamflight's scene where you went through a jet engine) was also looking extremely dull and barely visible. The other projected tunnel was also dull and fuzzy.
If not that exact scenario, I hope there are some plans for a few solid MK 50th changes for 2021.This ride is a family favorite, but I think it's time to go. Keep it open until DHS has it's overhaul and then commence with the Tomorrowland redo that will see Monster's Inc go to DHS, the Speedway be leveled (and potentially crop up in DHS with Cars), and Stitch and Buzz replaced. Add in a true overhaul to Space Mountain and an upgrade to Carousel of Progress while we're at it.
So let me get this straight. There are potentially no pluses added to the attraction, but they went out of their way to ruin a fun photo opportunity? That's just shameful. We asked what was refurbished and they weren't certain other than what they pointed out to us in the gift shop which was they added more bars at Zurg so you now can no longer get in with Zurg to get a photo.
Probably the "straight" part is that the CMs don't know.So let me get this straight. There are potentially no pluses added to the attraction, but they went out of their way to ruin a fun photo opportunity? That's just shameful.
Key word here is potentially. They did sound like they knew about the Zurg thing though from what the OP said. It blows my mind that they would waste time and money to stop people from doing something so minor yet memorable.Probably the "straight" part is that the CMs don't know.
Maybe a golden Dumbo near Dumbo's Circus like Disneyland did for it's 50th Anniversary would be nice.If not that exact scenario, I hope there are some plans for a few solid MK 50th changes for 2021.
More likely a guest broke a fingernail or bumped their head trying to get a shot with Zurg. Lawsuit potential takes away lots of fun for everyone. So let me get this straight. Sadly, I think what you said could possibly be the reason for the ruining. What ridiculous thing could the lawyers possibly pull next.More likely a guest broke a fingernail or bumped their head trying to get a shot with Zurg. Lawsuit potential takes away lots of fun for everyone.

Everytime i have gone, it has been down for technical issuses. This is becoming a normal. Which is sad.Buzz is down again. They have the doors closed and CMs standing outside with cards that list the attractions you could use your fastpass for. They were doing this the other night too
