Buying wine at Epcot

Does anyone know a good place to buy a bottle of wine at Epcot? A friend wants some and I was also going to maybe get some for a gift. I am not a wine drinker so I don't know anything about it. Anyone have any prices too?

Thanks!

Well since you'll be in Epcot...... definitely the best places to get wine would be Italy or France! Might as well go to the countries who have the best wine anyway. Personally I much prefer Italian wine, but some people prefer French for whatever reason. If you like red wine or Pinot Grigio I would definitely suggest Italy. If you prefer Chardonnay or Rose, France is probably the better bet. I'm not sure about prices, but I'm assuming that the usual "Disney Inflation" will apply. However, you can likely find brands of imports in Epcot that are near impossible to find in normal liquor stores, so the price increase will probably be worth it.

If you are going to Epcot during the Food & Wine Fest, which is Sept. 28th - Nov. 11th, the selection will be huge.
In addition to France & Italy, Germany also has good wine. Their whites are excellent.
The CM's in the wine shops can advise you.:)
Be warned though, if you leave Epcot, you can't bring a bottle of wine through security into a park. I once saw a couple having a problem trying to enter MGM with a sealed bottle that they bought at Epcot. Strange, huh? I wonder if they thought that the people were smuggling a corkscrew as well!:ROFLOL:

It's not so much that's it was wine, as the fact that it was a glass bottle of wine. It's a safety hazard should it break.

As an interesting twist, Japan has Sake and Plum Wine (its a sweeter wine, almost like a desert wine). Both are wonderful (but I like most wine!). I believe that Canada also may have some Ice Wines, which are also good. Either way...buy a bottle for yourself too!

wine store & corkscrew issue

If you are going to be there during the Food & Wine Festival they will have a very large wine store set up at the Festival Headquarters (which typically includes all those available at the indivdual countries as well as additional selections). My understanding is that this year, it will be at the former Wonders of Life Pavillion, a change from years past where it was in the south building of Innoventions West. If you are not there during the festival, then yes, Italy or France will be your best bet.

A bit off topic, but for wine buyers during festival time, note that you will most likely not be able to find a corkscrew ANYWHERE. My wife and I have learned to take one with us on our trips to the festival.

In Japan at the back of the store is a place to try wines. Really, not knowing what types of wines your friends like--sweet, dry, etc it might be difficult. However, Japan has some of the best plum wine I have ever tasted. I would highly suggest taking some of this home.

Italy..Rosa Regale...Sooo good and get the chocolates that they reccomend you eat with it..:)
Agreed. The Rosa Rigale is AMAZING. A rose hip/raspberry sparkling wine. You can also find it at your local publix and some ABC Liquor stores. 20 bucks in stores, 26 bucks at EPCOT

While relativly new Canada does have Ice Wines (as someone thought was the case above). These wines are harvested when the grapes have been frozen for 4 days so the juices and sugars are locked in for more flavour. This makes for a sweeter wine. The prices range from about 27 dollars to about 160 dollars, with the more expensive ones having the rarer and thus more expensive tastes.

If you are not sure what kind of wine they prefer I would recommend a bottle of Vouvray from the French pavillion you can buy it at the wine store across from the Patisserie. They also have a really nice soft rose wine. Both of those are extremly easy to drink and are good enough quality that if they are high-end wine drinkers (like me) they won't turn their nose up at it. You can't go wrong. The price is only a two or three dollars above average cost.

Don't forget if you are staying on property that can have it sent to your room OR if you are not staying on property you can ask the CM have it sent to the front of the park and you can pick it up on the way out if you don't feel like carrying it around. Just don't forget to pick it up!:animwink:

Many good suggestions have already been made. Previously, Australia has had a large wine presentation (near Germany) and some other countries including California :lookaroun have presentations of some varietals that are not commonly available.

Again, as some have already mentioned, you will not be getting any bargains here. Two buck Chuck is not available at the American Pavilion! :(

At the host pavilion, and potentially some other sites, there also have been some wines (mostly from California) that are exclusive products to WDW with interesting names and labels. If you can find one of these, it might make a nice different gift.

Yuck. I personally can't stand the taste of Sake.... but to each his own! :p

Actually at least in Canada (but I'd assume the rest of the WSC as well) the wines cannot be shipped outside of the park. YOu can have it sent to the front, just not to your resort. (Liquor Laws. We can't confirm the person picking up the package will actually be over 21 at the resorts/home delivery, although one could make the same argument at the front of the park:shrug: ).
