So I was reading the forum "Pick A Pearl" earlier and am SO excited to try this out when I head to Disney at the beginning of July. I also can't wait for Dole Whip, Personalized Mickey ears, and to get candy from Miyuki.

So here's my question to all you avid Disney Fans out there.

What other little tips and hidden treasures can you suggest to me? This is my first trip without the parents (just turned 19) and my boyfriend's (18) first trip all together. And its our anniversary <333

HELLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Monty

Brilliant...and Canadian
In the Parks
No
Horse-drawn carriage rides.
Fireworks boat cruises.
Watching Wishes from a hammock on the Poly beach.
Behind the scenes tours.

There are so many incredible things to do and see... Just go with the flow and take it all in. Wear "Anniversary" pins, you might get a treat or two, but even if you don't, you'll get an extra smile or two and lots of well-wishes.

It's not really hidden. More like overlooked or bypassed. But that time of year, Epcot is running the "Sounds Like Summer" concert series in the evenings at America Gardens Theater. These are "tribute" or "cover" bands each dedicated to a particular popular artist. All the ones I've seen have been very faithful to the original artist, and have put on fantastic shows. In fact I think I read somewhere that Disney will only book acts who have been endorsed by the artist to whom they are paying tribute.

For me it's a nice way to sit down and relax for a little while, and I'll often come just to see the show, and maybe hit an attraction on the way out or maybe not. Although I can certainly see how an out-of-town vacationer might not want to waste precious park time sitting on a bench watching a band.

Here are some suggestions:

Keys to the Kingdom tour - highlights the fascinating history of Walt Disney World Resort and provides backstage access to secret areas of Magic Kingdom.

Segway Tour - see the wonders of World Showcase while riding aboard a Segway.

Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek - Join the ultimate animal adventure! Journey deep into Pangani Forest on a thrilling, privately guided expedition featuring close encounters with exotic wildlife species. Adventurers are fitted with an expedition harness that attaches to an overhead track. Once your group reaches the riverbank, get a stunning look at the hippos, just 10 feet below. After a seemingly precarious trek across a rope bridge dangling over a throng of enormous crocodiles, experience another unbelievable view as you hang over the crocs' riverbed lair.

Not at all! Actually, that sounds like an AWESOME experience! And a much appreciated relax point from the hustle and bustle I have planned. I hope they have some good bands the day I plan to be in epcot!!! :D

:O I didn't know they had anniversary pins!! I thought we would have to get an "I'm celebrating...." and just fill out that its our anniversary! :O Thanks for the tip. I'll have to ask when we check in to the hotel!

Now this sound AMAZING! I love hippos and I love the Kilimanjaro Safari's. Do you by chance know if this experience requires a reservation or how much it would cost per person? I'm kind of on a tight budget :/

These are the links I read when looking for similar info.

Well, since you're so enthusiastic...here's a link to the schedule:

I've seen 2U (who covers U2) and Slippery When Wet (Bon Jovi), and both are fantastic.

Little Queen (Heart) are new this year, and I'm really looking forward to checking them out. It's July 4 weekend though, hopefully I'll be able to find time to get out there...

Is "The Music of the Heart" a band? or is that part of their name? I don't recognize either but if you recommend it, Little Queen and Frontiers will be there while I'm there! I'm very excited to check out the Frontiers then as I am an avid Journey fan :P Though I will admit I am REALLY disappointed that Slippery When Wet leave four days before I get there :((((

Little Queen is the name of the band. Heart is the name of the band that they cover. Thus they play "the music of Heart". The way it's listed on the web site, seems like "The Music of Heart" is part of their name, kind of like "2U: A Tribute to U2"...

Should have read that a little more clearly then XD I know heart, my mother and I sing "All I wanna do" in the car a lot. Seems like her favorite song :P Now I'm really excited! Thanks so much for the tip, Tizzo! I hope you get to make it out to see them, too!

If you're on a budget, some less expensive things to do are the Sea Raycers in the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can also go mini golfing or a see a movie at Downtown Disney. Generally, an evening walking around Downtown Disney is very pleasant. Plus, you can take a nice boat ride from there to Old Key West, Port Orleans, and/or Saratoga Springs and walk around there too.

And might I suggest laying in a hammock on the Poly beach during a sunset...I speak from experience :)

I've been to Disney so many times in my life and it never ceases to amaze me that I continuously find things I didn't know about! Do you have to be staying at the Poly to use the hammocks on the beach?? We're staying at POP! but my boyfriend always talks about wanting to get a hammock when we finally get a house :P so i think he would enjoy that and I love the sunrises/sunsets :D

No, you don't need to be a Poly Resort guest to use the hammocks. Your best bet is to take the monorail from MK to the Poly. My suggestion is to walk out by the pool and then once you hit the beach, walk down to your right a little bit (quiet area). After the sun sets, walk around the Poly a little bit, it's a great atmosphere with the torches lit along the beach and paths. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Do you by chance know if the busses and monorails and the like run early enough to catch the sunrise, too?

I'm not quite sure what time the sun rises during the time you'll be there. I believe there is a transportation schedule I'm just not sure where. During my CP, we opened the monorails before dawn, but a lot of times didn't open them to guests til around 7-ish (I'm starting to forget these things :p) The sun rises from behind the Contemporary, so even a ride on the monorail will give you a great view. Buses begin running around an hour before the park opens so keep an eye on the operating hours for MK.

BUT, to absolutely guarantee yourself a Poly sunrise, you can always go to the front desk at POP! and call for a cab.

I'll have to look into that. I have a bucket list and one of my many items is to watch the sunrise, and what better place to do it then Disney?! :D
