BUS DRIVER RUMOR: Disney to start charging for resort buses...

To add an interesting fact, a fare is charged to ride the Tokyo Resort Line monorail at the Tokyo Disney Resort. This is due to Japanese rail regulations. The line appears on Tokyo area trains maps and for these same reasons are why the Western River Railroad does not encircle Tokyo Disneyland and only has one station.

What Disney may be doing is that building the garages at Downtown Disney, Disney knows people will go there, park for free and take the buses to the parks and resorts. To combat this strategy of parking, Disney will charge for the ride. In the end Disney makes money yet still gets visitors no matter where they park. Those staying on property would likely be exempt.

The problem with this is it will slow down the people moving onto the bus unless you pay at a kiosk and it spits out a ticket like at most train or light rail stations.
People can already do that and it's be easier to charge for parking like at the Disneyland Resort.

Due to the fact that WDW does not provide direct bus transportation from DTD to any of the parks, this really is a self policing thing. You would use up a couple of hours of park time just getting back and forth as you would have to get on the bus in DtD and go to a resort and then from the resort to the parks. The only place that it would have even a chance of working with any degree of usefulness is MK. I can't speak for others but to me it would be so not worth it. But it's not like you just can walk from DtD to the parks like in California. DtD is miles away from any of the parks.

In my working career, I ran a number of successful businesses and owned one as well. I drove a bus because it looked like a fun thing to do and I was tired of the rat race. Of course, those previous positions didn't pay me millions a year. With that incentive I think I could learn to never answer a question or never answer for my actions. Seems easy enough.:)

I have oceanfront property in Arizona to sell anybody!:hilarious:
We must be neighbors, I have a couple of acres on the ocean too. Arizona's property tax on ocean front land is really reasonable as well. I do think it's funny that they call a beach, desert land. Must be some local code or something. I must get out there someday to see it. I'll bet the views are fantastic. :joyfull:

Ohh I do believe this is happening! I hope it does! It will add more appreciation to those of us that spend good money at the nicer hotels :)

What are those of us that can't afford the "nicer hotels", lower class? "And the rich will refused to associate with the poor, so they put them all below..." (Titanic)

...where they'd be the first to go... I love that song. :)

The nicest hotels in Orlando are not Disney hotels. People who really want nice hotels don't stay in Disney hotels. The only reason to stay in Disney hotels is because you like being in the bubble. There is nothing wrong with the bubble thing! But it's nothing to brag about, really.

I hope this happens... It makes me feel special staying at GCF :)

Since the Grand Californian resort is at the Disneyland Resort you can easily walk to the entrances of Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure ;)

LOL I assume you meant the GF sorry but couldnt resist ;)

This would make full sense for non-resort guests. I would be all for this. Use a reader to check your band to prove you are staying on-property. So many off-site and daily guests take advantage of the buses.

But if they were to charge resort guests? That would be pathetic.
