Say hello to Zelda!

Now, for anybody wondering why, let me give some quick background info on myself.

I am a Canine trainer/behavioralist and we often train working dogs for various purposes. Zelda is in training to assist a young child for whom she will have several tasks. And before anybody asks for any specific information, please know that it would require me discussing the childs medical information/condition which I will not do. I can however tell you that Zelda will be medical/psd dog.

Zeldas family travels to Disney several times a year. I have trained several dogs that have been to WDW with their families but the training Zelda will require is a bit unique and I need to bring her there myslef to actually train in the parks, resorts, and on the various modes of transportation.

I chose yacht club as a resort because they are pet friendly and even though a service dog would have legal access To any of the resorts I figured this would be easier not only for us, but the cat members of the resort as well since YC is prepared for dogs.

Zelda has already completed her public access training. Those of you here who follow me on Instagram have most likely already seen some videos of her or if you Haven't they are there for your viewing pleasure lol.

I am very excited about this trip as it will provide a lot of new experiences for not only myself but Zelda as well!

We have a total of 6 days booked and we'll be leaving near the end of this month. Updates to come soon!

And here's some pics of Marie trying to get to my seltzers!!

Quick update:

We went out to dinner last night and were discussing one of our least favorite aspects of Disney trip planning, park reservations 🤮.

While looking at park hours we noticed HS had an After Hours party. We debated it for about 45 seconds and then we purchased tickets!

We've done the After Hours party at AK, MK and HS and we enjoyed the HS party the most. AK was our second favorite. MK was fun but it seemed to have more people and there were also a lot of people who didn't leave the park and just walked around.

You get a lanyard for the event and you must have it to enter the attractions which was good because it was short waits, but all the people who don't leave the park make it feel crowded and of course there are many people who attempt to ride attractions.

At HS After Hours at was empty which was the best part. Just being able to walk around amd enjoy the atmosphere was great. We got so many cool pictures. I'll dig them up from the cloud and post later.

We are O-town and bound people!!

And in a rather unfortunate turn of events, C will not be joining me. Our cat Emmett who was the same one who was ill in January and prevented her from coming is on some new medicine and my assistant Elizabeth had a personal issue arise that prevented her from being able to house sit for us and see was not comfortable with all the last minute changes and did not want to risk leaving him with just someone stopping by daily to feed him and give him medicine.

She is not happy about staying home but she would rather be with Emmett then we be out of town and something tragic happened and I know she would never forgive herself.

So it looks like you're stuck with Zelda and I for the next few days lol

Now you may be asking yourself, 9000 why would you shave that beautiful coat she had?

Well, Zelda enjoys playing in the mud and rain. After a few days of showers 2 weeks ago she got extremely wet and dirty and her coat developed a few mats around her ears, head and legs.

The groomer determined the best option was to just shave her and let the hair re grow. I would rather have a clean dog than a dog with mats while we travel and train. Amd I think.she looks pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty.....pretty, good!

Totally not a dog expert so might be wrong.. would Zelda also not be less hot with a summer coat?

Enjoy the Trip and say hi from us to Emmett & C!
A dog's body temperature is regulated by their coat/Fur. Depending on the breed shaving their coat can be dangerous. Such as shaving a German shepherd's coat would not make it less hot on a warm day it would actually affect its Ability to regulate body temperature. Dogs do not prespire in the same fashion as humans.

In Zelda's case she is absolutely more comfortable without the matted fur. Especially for her ears. If ears on a dog become matted, over time it can restrict blood flow and cause pain and bruising and ear infection

I drove our Toyota Rav 4 (bonus points @amjt660 ?) instead of my truck. C wanted to be able to take our dogs out for some activities while I'm gone and those big shepherds fit in the truck much better than the Rav.

I thought I would be riding without the satellite radio that the truck has but apparently they're running a free weekend much to my surprise when I accidentally hit the satellite radio button!
