it's not an EPCOT Center party until the girl in the window and I show up :lookaroun
What a coincidence! I brought my boyfriend, Scott from Horizons!

Scott has a public service announcement about this EPCOT Center party he'd like to share with you all...

"Stay in your group. Keep your buddy in sight. Always check your gill apparatus for full re-circulation EVERY TEN MINUTES!"

Wow...I'm surprised WDI let him go.:( Wonder where he is now...He woulda been a great addition to the 25th Gal.

My understanding is that he had an accident while working at the Contemporary and required significant repairs for which there was no budget for. WDI then gave him to Florida Robotics in return for services and then Florida Robotics was the group that auctioned him.

I completely agree that he would have been agreat additional to the gallery. I was very happy and surprised to see the Horizons robot butler there and having SMRT-1 there as well would have made it that much better.

The Horizons butler was at the EPCOT 25th anniv gallery but unfortunately it closed towards the end of September 08.

Yes - he was used at the Concourse Steakhouse and work was done to allow him to carry a tray. He was renamed X1846 (which was the phone extension for the steakhouse). I have a link to an article on this which is here:

And then he was sold on e-bay about a year or two ago.

Sounds like R2 on the Sail Barge in Return of the Jedi :)

I was just looking at this page http://www.lostepcot.com/communicore.html - There used to be so much at Communicore. Too bad SMRT-1 was sold off like so many droids with bad motivators. ;)

I miss EVERYTHING from the old Communicore! It says alot that even though I saw the old Communicore only twice when I was younger, it is the first image that pops in my mind when thinking of Epcot (Center) instead of the current Innoventions area! And SMRT-1 was definitely one of those elements that made a lasting impression in my head!!!!!!!

Old Dining Reservation System

I also really miss the old dining reservation system, where you used to talk to the people through the T.V.'s. As a little one I would always look forward to getting into EPCOT, riding spaceship earth, and making reservations as we exit the ride lol.. How often can you say that making a dining reservation was a memorable and fun experience? I am always a bit saddened when I see the old area that housed the TV's next to the ATM machine..

And for the love of crumb cake lets do something with Wonders of Life Already.. By the look of things nowadays, a few of us can stand a little refresher course in health and well living hehe.

Yeppers. The 'walk-through' concept that they have now is just waaay too walk through. I even find myself just strolling along and not really enticed to stop at the exhibits. :dazzle:

Exactly.. Aside from all the video games they used to have when it first opened when I was a young teen, I rarely ever stopped to do anything in there. 2 trips ago my girlfriend and I played a couple things in one of them just to pass time before our soarin fastpass came up, but like you said its more just a walk-through these days.
