Bring AE back

Let's make everyone happy again.

Bring back AE.

I'm done fighting it. I can't do it. I'm the only one trying. And it's too much. Stitch is drawing huge lines, it surprises me that with such attendance SGE can really be marked that low by people.

But I'm done trying to argue it.

Just bring AE back and make everyone happy again.

Whoa now.

There is nothing to fight: no one is attacking YOU. They are only attacking the new attraction. Debate is healthy, but keep what you believe in.

As for AE coming back, that's next to impossible - and sadly not a news or rumor.

As for Stitch's huge lines, that's a plus. But there is negative guest feedback because of the scare factor. That's why Disney plans to close it and make adjustments.

Remember, when people attack the attraction - it's just that. There is no personal attack (or at least there shouldn't be) and there just has to be an agreement to disagree.

Hey now -- it's nothing more than some interior painting, throwing X-S Tech logos everywhere, designing a new alien, and putting the videos back on....

I always thought it would be a neat idea if both attractions could operate. There are two theatres. That way Disney could sell its merchandise AND maintain a shred of integrity.

But it wouldn't be possible because there would be no way to do the pre-shows....

But only one preshow area. How would you know which show you were wandering into?

Yeah, your right! That might require a budget and some imagination.

I believe you are referencing a short film about the death of traditional Disney animation that has not yet been released. Hope you weren't kidding about those points?:animwink:

Or, in Michael Eisner's world, to continue quoting Timekeeper:

"Maybe. . . no I can't, yes I can, no I can't, yes I can, no I can't, yes I can, no I can't!"

Stitchfan, I support your right to voice your honest opinion of SGE. Everyone should have the ability to voice whatever they want about anything. Back when SGE was just in previews, I thought it was fun and I too joined one or two discussions trying to support it as it was being pummeled with negative reviews. However, I respect that a majority of those on Disney fan sites, like this one, have legititmate complaints with SGE and that among these folks SGE just doesn't cut it for them at all. I too join the ranks of those who feel SGE needs some fine-tuning, especially the ending and times of "dead air" that seem to exist when sitting in the dark. Certainly, as I said elsewhere, the basics for a great attraction are there. Wonderful special effects, super animatronics, great lighting, excellent sound, etc. It just needs a little tweaking and if they can do it so it is better received by all, then I'm all for it.

I certainly would NOT suggest bringing AE back. Whether people want to realize it or not, the demand for a Stitch attraction can be easily seen if you just look at the queue for SGE. Even on MK's busiest days, AE was never enjoying lines like I've seen SGE receive recently when AE was near the end of its run (of course FP ties comparisons up, but that's not of concern right now). The primary difference is the fact that the name "Stitch" is in the title that has people lining up. Obviously though, the backlash to SGE is growing and it seems like WDI MIGHT go back in and tinker with a few things to make it better. Although I think the "general" audience is receiving it better than let on here, it does need some adjustments as I don't often hear anyone say "let's do that again" as a good attraction should do.

I certainly don't buy into the argument that they just wanted to throw Stitch in something so they could sell more toys. Stitch merchandise was flying off the shelves just fine before SGE and spending literally millions to re-do AE was not the way to go to sell a few more toys. WDI was trying to create an attraction with a character that people really seem to love right now while replacing an attraction that wasn't garnering crowds they way it should while also utilizing technology that they probably still had a lot of faith in.

The problems I'm beginning to see is that recently there has become too much emphasis on the "engineering" part of Imagineering and not enough on the "imagination" part on many recent ventures.

Hey I'm all for bringing it back and the recent outcry for AE's return among MANY WDWMagic members really makes me feel good, but I think we're all being realistic here. Nobody is honestly thinking that AE is coming back. Sure some of us can HOPE, but I don't think anyone expects any sort of return from AE or any of it's characters.

There's no need to be like this stitchfan. I think most people here that do not like SGE, honestly want the attraction to improve. Just be patient.

QUOTE]

I have not been on stitch yet, but really does stitch seem scary? A fury little alien who plays elvis songs and dances. The thing that I will miss the most is how scary it was no matter how many times i rode it. I just don't think stitch will be the same. but who knows i haven't ridden it yet

Oh,oh **raises hand in back of classroom**, I've got it! AE could be part of the 5th park, Rides of Disney Past!! With Toad, Figment version 1.0, Horizons, Skyway, 20k, etc, etc, (okay, you get the point)

No,seriously,as someone who likes Stitch, even I was dissapointed with the ride, and wether it ends up getting a rehab,retooling,whatever....IT'S A KID'S RIDE!!...and isn't that what the Magic Kingdoms' supposed to be all about..the kids, and the kid in all of us? And c'mon, not to get on a rant here, but lately the line between passionate about Disney and fanatical on this board is getting really blurred in my opinion. I mean how many different threads were there about TP'ing the castle? Answer: TOO MANY!! Disney knows they've hit a goldmine with Stitch, case in point, movie two years ago, straight to video sequel that sets up TV show about a year later, which now is in it's 2nd season. OK, i'll admit with all that and the constant merchandising, I can see where anybody can get jaded with all that is Stitch, but as someone that was there for the sneak previews in October, kids were freaking out that they hadn't already seen Stitch after pre-show. In another words people, let it go....(we now return you back to your regularly scheduled thread!):lookaroun

again i haven't ridden stitch yet so bear with me here.

i loved AE. someone mentioned that the lines are better for stitch than they were for AE caue it has "Stitch". Yes and no. No being that it's a "new" ride. anytime there is a "new" ride the lines tend to be longer than usual. Also, it is now billed as a "Kid Friendly Ride" where as before it really wasn't so the line'll be longer in that respect as well.

the problem is that Stitch still has elements of AE (dark, freaky stuff happening, etc) that is causing these same kid's in this "kid's" ride that got everyone all upset enough to force a change in a "frightening" ride that was probably one of disney's best.

and now we have Stitch. i love stitch. i can imitate his voice pretty well and heck after getting my brother a stitch bean thingy from Disney, i went and got one for myself on our last day as well. he more than deserves his own ride. i'm all for it. and if replacing AE was the only solution fine. but do it right the FIRST time. because apparently they rushed the attraction.

and if you ask me i'm a little wary and worried about these "too frightening" rides for children. *gets sign ready to protect Haunted Mansion*
