Oh dear, there goes my #8569 reason for visiting the parks.... whatever shall I do....

Old movie sets don't do anything for me, generally. Better to replace them with something relevant, that more than 12 people appreciate.

well, unless there was something to replace this attraction , then was there a need to take it out? now it's just an empty building with no plans, or is there something in the works? :veryconfu

I am not quite sure why everything needs to have immediate plans.....

The Haunted Mansion Movie display closed May 1'ish last year....so, they got rid of the sets, this does not really signal anything is planned, or will happen.....it just means the park is potentially doing nothing more that spring cleaning.

Besides, in the last year, MGM has added the new animation attractions, and the auto stunt show....and they have not closed anything.

Heading for the great escape.
Its nice to have a bit of space to expand into. Besides fewer rides mean theres less to break down and fewer of those pesky cast members toeat away at the bottom line.

The benefit, of course, to both "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" is that they fit perfectly with the studio theme, and they are both produced by Touchstone Television, in addition, to being aired on ABC. That, alone, brings back the old rumor of the park's name change to the "Disney-ABC Studios" that made the rounds right after the ABC purchase. That would solve the MGM problem and eleminate the confusion with the "Walt Disney Studios" in Paris. Ehh.. something to think about.
1) I don't think the whole Wysteria Lane thing would have been appropriate in a Disney park. The show isn't really a lets-watch-it-as-a-family show.
2) Lost on the other hand, I think would be a great addition to any part of Disney World. However, I think they should just make Discovery Island into one large 'Lost' Attraction (I know they've already done Lost-type shows their). It would be out of the way, so people who don't want to see it don't have to, and when Lost ends its run (in 100 years from now :) ), we won't be left with an empty attraction.
3) I don't think they should call it Disney-ABC Studios because they deal with so much more than just ABC (GMR, ToT, RnRC, HISTK, Star Tours, LMA, etc.) In fact, the only ABC related things there are Sounds Dangerous, ABC Theater (formerly Superstar TV), and the ABC Comissary.

Much of that is not Disney Studios related either.....

The MGM name will eventually go away.....to have the park only reffered to as "Disney Studios" seems a waste of a marketing opportunity to me.

To me, this whole thing is just some Spring cleaning :snore:

This is not going to stop me from going to MGM,
though I do think the tram portion of the backlot tour is not even worth seeing now that residential street is gone and all that is left is the road through as what disney calls it, "the vehicle prop graveyard", mostly things that aren't worth seeing. And catastrophe canyon, once you see it a couple times, it gets old.

Just my opinion

Thake it or leave it...

While I will admit in looking at the pics that it would be interesing to visit the sets, I also understand the need to discard of things like this, as there's no prohibitive value to keeping them as any type of "attraction", so to speak.

It would be neat to see certain smaller items auctioned off on ebay though.
Anyone aware it that ever happens?
