We are headed down in October with our family of 6. Before our little guy in April we stayed in the vaules with the addition of the 4th baby we are now headed for the Mods. We were very happy with the All Stars so I am sure we will love the Mods. Are the rooms that much bigger, besides the fridge what else is different?
Thanks!

Heading for the great escape.
PORS is my favourite moderate. Great pool/pools, nice theme fabulous grounds and a great boat trip to DTD. The quiet pools are brilliant for a post park dip at night.

PORS is a great resort. The buildings are set among a wooded area by a river. There is the main pool with a water slide and jacuzzi on Old Man Island. Pool has a pool bar. There is also a cane pole fishing area. There are also "quiet" pools around the resort. You can rent bikes and boats. Main building has the food court as well as Boatwright's for full service dining, check in, gift shop, etc. Rooms will be larger than at the Value resorts. As with Pop and All Stars, you will have many buildings with the rooms opening to the outside. Bus transportation will make multiple stops in the resort and there is a boat to Downtown Disney.

I think you will find the theming a bit more immersive and also a bit more relaxing. It is great resort to take a walk around and look at the differnet builings and landscaping.

The rooms are only slightly bigger, about 54 square feet larger, but they also have a double sink which is quite nice. Other than themed furniture that is about the only difference in the room itself. In terms of the resort you will notice a considerable difference. The grounds, main pool and the buildings are well themed and there are a number of activities to participate in at the resort. Among those would include cane pole fishing, carriage rides, water craft rentals, etc. PORS is also home to the one and only Yee Haw Bob who plays in the lounge. Here is a link to his page which should provide you with a schedule and videos.

My sentiments exactly. POR is a wonderful resort, and in my opinion has a great food court. This resort exceeds all the expectations we personally have for a week's accommodations @ WDW.

We are going to PORS in Oct too :). It is one of our usual hotels and we love it. We have also stayed at the all stars as well and try to book a moderate whenever we can. As far as the rooms go I don't see a huge difference. They are a bit bigger and the beds are a little bit more comfy IMO. You can park much closer to the rooms than at the value resorts which is always a help when u have kids and lots of luggage to get from your car. Also there are multiple bus stops so you don't always have to walk up to the main building to get to your park transportation. Aside from the rooms, it's the surrounding environment and extras that make the Moderate resorts stand apart from the Value. You get a much more private and secluded feeling just walking around the resort. It is spaced out nicely so it doesn't seem as loud and busy as the Values. The pools are more extravagant than the values with waterfalls and rocks and POFQ even has a slide. There are activities you can do at the hotel like rent boats and bikes which make the hotel something other than just a place to sleep. It has a very good table service restaurant called Boatwrights, which used to have one of the best breakfast menus in WDW. It was nixed due to budgets cuts a year or 2 ago and I'm not sure if they ever brought it back, it also has a bar with a great musician that plays at night. You will definitely notice a difference between the 2 tiers and they make it worth your $$ IMO. Have fun

Trying to decide between POFQ and PORS. We have stayed 4 times at All Star Movies & always been very happy. Have a 9 year old boy and 5 year old girl.

Also considered CBR, so any tips on which is the best Mod for us would be appreciated!

the main difference between them, when you stay at CBR for example, you actually feel like you are staying at a resort in the bahama's or jamaica. we stayed at cbr last time and loved it, next year we are going to try cs, I'm sure I would love pors or pofq but I prefer the beach resort atmosphere. once you go mod, it will be tough to go back to a value.

Expect a very nicely themed resort, with long walks to your room, and HORRIBLE, I mean HORRIBLE bus service. We stayed there for the first and last lime last Sept and would rather stay in Pop if we didn't stay in our usuals -- BC & WL.

There is also a playground not far from the pool - we were staying at GF visited my cousin staying at PORS and had a tough time tearing the kids away from the playground to go to AK. It was GREAT for them to have a place to run around and let off steam after going from monorail to stroller to ride to stroller to restaurant to stroller (you get the point). :hammer:

These are the 2 resorts that we usually stay at. POFQ is my Favorite, It is smaller and easier to get around. It has a cool pool for the kids, And only 1 bus stop. The 1 thing that it doesn't have that POR has, You can not get a sit down meal. I hope this helps.

We are really thinking about staying at PORS next year when we go. It will be a first time for our family. My best friend stayed there for the first time in March of this year and absolutely loved it! They really enjoyed the grounds and the quiet pools!

I'll chime in and say the PP's have done an excellent job describing the positive qualities of POR. We stayed there last year and found it to be a very nice place which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would describe it as "cozy". Someone mentioned busses. Yeah, it sometimes seemed (especially closing at MK) that none of the other resorts had any guests. They were all staying at POR...lol. I think you'll have a grand time.
