Bonnet Creek reviews? (non-Disney resort on Disney property)

There is a possibility that we will go to the Bonnet Creek Resort and while I knew it was very close to the Disney property I didn't know it was actually in it. It is right next to Typhoon Lagoon. Not something you'll find on the WDW map since it isn't a Disney resort but I was surprised that a non-Disney resort was actually on their property. It is part of Wyndham resorts. Anyway, has anyone been there? It sounds quite amazing.

Actually, it is not on Disney property, but is surrounded by Disney. Beautiful resort, nice villas, multiple pools and a lazy river, with rates a fraction of what you would pay for a Disney deluxe resort.
Great location, but we drive, so I don't know anything about their shuttles. Most of the property is timeshare, with roomy villas and full kitchens, but there is a Wyndham hotel property there too.

Yeah it would be a villa for us. And I drive myself so the shuttles don't matter to me.

You said it was not Disney property? It is literally surrounded by their resorts though. Did they just not buy that part of the property?

I have stayed there 3 times, but my parents have stayed there the last 12 years. It is a great property. You get a fully stocked kitchen with a full size fridge. Every unit has a balcony. Most have jetted tubs in the master bath. Units are large, a bit bigger than most DVC. I think they have up to 4 bedrooms. They have 7 or 8 hot tubs and the pools are great. They do have shuttle buses but there is a fee. I have always heard complaints that they do not run early enough to rope drop. We always had a car. There is also a nice picnic area with tables and grills. It is about a mile from DS and you can see the fireworks from different parks depending on your view and floor. It is not a "good neighbor" hotel, so you do not have all the "on property perks". That said, if you want took make a few of your meals at your unit, it is great for that. At least a table and chairs for six in the one bedrooms. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions.

Hate to be a downer but I hate the property. Harassed on a daily basis about timeshares. They would call us at 6:15 in the morning to ask about timeshares, and if they thought we were back from the parks they would call ALL evening, we eventually unplugged the phones. Then they start knocking on the door every day in the early morning to ask which was upsetting my sisters baby since it was so early. Going through the lobby they would pretty much walk you to the elevator asking about timeshares and practically begging. Then after days of saying no security starting showing up at random times in the evening to say we were getting noise complaints and we were going to be thrown out. 2 of the 3 times we had just walked in the door from the parks and the other was at 7 in the morning while asleep.

The pool was nice though.

Sorry, that sounds like a lousy time. I am a Wyndham member so they aren't trying to hard sell us. I really do feel overall that they are relatively good in comparison to many timeshare places we have stayed at. In your situation, I would have gotten a manager involved about the second day. Sorry, you had such a bad stay.

The hotel itself was very nice. The rooms were all furnished really well and they had great views. We watched Illuminations from the hotel.

Wow. That's insane. Every now and again, I look at staying here, but I know it's a timeshare. I once stayed at Sheraton's Vistana on my MIL's points and we were peppered with calls that we remedied by unplugging the phone. I thought that was annoying, but what you've described is straight-up harassment.

That is unfortunate. We have stayed there several times and after turning down the timeshare pitch upon check-in, we were not contacted again.

We have stayed at both Vistanas. The one over on International Drive and the one off of 535, and both called about attending the timeshare breakfast, but we declined and did not get contacted again. I think the worst for us was Hilton Grand Vacation Club at SeaWorld, where when we told the salesman there that we could easily exchange into their place, he assured us that we could not exchange into a HGVC because it was such a nice place and the demand was so high there was not availability. We have exchanged to several Hiltons since and often laugh at some of the things the people will tell you to try to get you to take the tour.

We have stayed at WBC resort twice. Have nothing bad to say about it really, you get a ton of space and amenities for a fraction of the price of a Disney moderate. Parking lots/garages do get crowded however. As far as the timeshare pitch: both times at check in we were given a very brief pitch, both times I politely declined, was never bothered again. I'd recommend the resort - the location is fantastic!

I was there in October, first time staying off-property. If you have a car with you I would say go ahead and book it, no question. As others have said, the units are big, the pools are great, and the grounds in general were very attractive. But, and it's a big one, we did not have a car and the hotel shuttle was completely useless. I think there were about six or so departures to MK each morning, with fewer departures to the other parks, and very few return trips at night (no trips at all during the afternoon). And the shuttle is very expensive if there are more than two of you. We didn't bother and took Uber to the parks because it actually worked out cheaper than taking the shuttles and of course it is faster. But the cost added up to about $200 which eats into the savings of staying at a non-Disney hotel.

Other than that, few complaints aside from a VERY unhelpful clerk at check-in. Other staff were helpful. I would note that the coffee shop and breakfast shop are very expensive, more so than Disney hotels.

Finally, against my better judgement we agreed to do the timeshare presentation in exchange for wildly discounted park tickets. The meeting was 1.5 hours and ended when we firmly but politely said we weren't interested. In return, we saved almost 400 dollars on tickets. I didn't want to do the presentation but when my husband told me what the deal was, I decided that that 1.5 hours out of my vacation was worth 400 bucks.

Fair point. My folks are time share owners and that's how we get the accommodations in Florida, but they will still set up a "breakfast" and have a meeting since they know we aren't technically owners. I did it, but only because we got $120 Disney dollars. It lasted the whole morning, so never again. It would literally have to be $400 to be worth my while again.

Thanks for the info.

I see there is a lazy river there, not the size of Typhoon Lagoon of course, but just by guess alone maybe one that takes 2-3 minutes to float around? Plus the Pirate ship with the waterslide. How many pools are there? You said 7 hot tubs, which my wife would love. We could probably get our accommodations paid for there if my parents came with us and used their points through Wyndham (they are getting older but even if they don't travel as much they give a week here and there to my sister or I).

Yeah, it's really about how much your time is worth. I wouldn't have been happy if it had lasted all morning. In my recent experience, it was a significant enough amount of money that it was worth it, but as I said it was no more than 1.5 hours.

The lazy rivers (there are two) are quite small, though nice - no more than two-three minutes. The pirate ship had one slide in it, I think (I didn't actually swim in that pool). I think there are five pools on the property? Plus mini-golf. And huge koi in the lake that you can feed.

I have visited people at the Wyndham and thought it was a nice property, but I generally avoid them because of the hard sell on the time shares. The Hilton and Waldorf at Bonnet Creek are both great, and I have stayed at both of them in the past. I would second the suggestion to make sure you're driving if staying at any of the properties, but I prefer to drive anyway. It seems that the non-disney resorts nearby are growing in popularity and amenities (thinking the good neighbor properties here) at the same time many of the disney resorts are declining in amenities, service, and food quality. Funny thing, Disney will still sell out all of their rooms most of the time.
