Yea or Nay?

(I already have an ADR for Boma, but now I'm not so sure after reading some other reviews. I'm not a "picky eater" but certain spices and seasonings are not to my taste, especially the "hot" spicy and the "curry" spices).

Thanks

I have 3 very picky eaters in my family and they loved the place. Its now on our list of "must do" things.

There is a chef at every station to explain the foods to you so its easy to choose what you will or will not eat. I found nothing hot spicy and I don't eat curry so I just skipped over that stuff, there are still so many things to choose from. Many of the dishes sound exotic, but when you read the descriptions you find its plain old mashed potatoes or whatever. Give it a try.

None of what I ate at Boma was "hot" spicy, more "flavourful" spicy... I'd definitely say go! Enjoy!

My DH and I ate at Boma on our last trip and we are in the minority that didn't care for it too much.:hurl:
We won't be returning any time soon although I am sure we will try it again in several years.
I just thought that you should hear all opinions.
I must say that although we didn't care for it I would encourage, as I do all, to keep your reservation and form an opinion of your own. Let us know what you think later.

A millions time yea. The spices used at boma are not hot spices. Curry seems to be the predominate spice they use and it has more of a sweet smokey flavor. Go an enjoy and do not forget to try the zebra domes. For a special treat ask your server if they have any frozen zebra domes.

I agree with Monty - not really a "hot" spicy, more like just "warm" - I don't do hot at all, and didn't find anything on the buffet that I didn't like. The desserts are awesome. We would definitely go again.

I went with Monty and had chicken nuggets and mac n cheese.

Was worth it for the desserts afterwards.

We loved it --- my wife does not like overly spicing or seasoned food and very much enjoyed it. There is lots of variety. That said, if by picky, you mean you prefer plain bland food where black pepper is about as far as you go into flavoring or seasoning, then you might want to try something else. When I first starting dating my wife, she was this way, and kept saying my food was spicey, I would use herb and seasonings but nothing hot or spicey...it took me a while to figure out that she was not use to the stronger seasonings.

My DF is finicky about what she eats, but she declared that this was the best meal she has had in ages. (This was after she agreed to go only because I wanted to) They have enough variety to almost guarantee that you will find something you like. And if you have dietary issues the chefs seem more than willing to accommodate. At least give it a whirl, you may be surprised.

One of my favorites. You should definitely try it at least once.

For some reason we decided not to go there this trip though. :(

Thanks all. I'll keep my ADR and form my own opinion. I'm looking forward to it!

Quick question: After dinner, can I hang out and use the night vision goggles? Where should I go to see the animals?

Also, I assume the best way to get back to the Poly is to take a bus back to MK or Epcot (whichever is open later) and monorail from there? Or is it better to just take a cab?

The bus will work fine unless you are really pressed for time or just simply want to save half an hour or so off of your travel time.

I had looked at an online menu for Boma once and though "meh" and never intended to try it. And then I went to AKL one night... the intent was to just grab a bus from AK park over to AKL so I could hitch over to Adventurers Club. So I went into AKL for a bit to look around, and the intoxicating aromas of Boma pulled me in. Tried it once, fell in love.

Most of the food ingredients are familiar to you - there's beef and poultry & fish, there are salads and soups and potatos and vegetables, so it's not like you're dining ala Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom. It's just all spiced a little differently, a little more exotic, then what most folk are used to. And if all else fails, you gorge yourself on the kids' table and desserts. No one will go hungry, and odds are all will be pleased.

We are going to Disney this weekend for a quick Disney fix. We are going out of our way to eat at Boma tomorrow night (first night there). We made sure we had our Advanced Seating and can not wait. This is, by far, our favorite place to eat on property. I have a picky 7 year old daughter and a picky 11 year old niece. They both love it there. There is a little bit of everything. The first time we went, the CM insisted that we eat the Zebra Domes first because no one ever has room for dessert. (and the kids just loved eating dessert first) This is now a tradition for the entire family every time we eat at Boma. The kids get a big kick out of hearing mom and grandma saying, 'no dinner until you finish your DESSERT!!!'. We have such a good time there and we all have happy tummies when we leave. 25 hours until my next Zebra Dome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
