Body Wars

Maybe it wasn't the motion so much that made her sick, but the thought that she was inside someone's blood, looking at his heart and seeing a splinter inside his finger.
Maybe!

But...on the other hand... she's a biology major...and wants to go to Med school :lookaroun

So I dont know what's up :lookaroun

I really liked BW. I don't like rollercoasters, so rides like BW, ST and Dino are my "thrill rides".

I would love to have the pavillion up and running. If not, do something there. That part of the park feels neglected and a little bit creepy.:lookaroun

I'm afraid that my experience on Body Wars left me a little bit:

:hurl: :hurl: :hurl: :hurl: :hurl:

I'm pretty good with boats, roller coasters, and Mission Space, but this just didn't sit well.
No offense to anyone who liked it, but other than feeling sick, but the ride just didn't make me want to come back. Star Tours has the same ride technology but a much better theming.

I hope Disney finds a company that will want to invest in the open pavillion and make something new and great out of it.

i went on body wars over xmas and new years and i gotta tell ya it was the only ride in epcot that didnt have a queue. it was a walk on and it was a nice place to sit down without standing for ages in any queue. i do miss it coz it was like a place which no one knew about and it was never crowded so it was nice and quiet.

How to recreate the Body Wars experience:

1. Eat at every pavilion in the World Showcase.
2. Spin around in circles really fast for a couple minutes.
3. Have a few friends push and shove you around like you're in a mosh pit.
4. :hurl:

Voila! :)

I do miss Body Wars, but mostly because I miss WoL so much. Especially Cranium Command. I mourn that loss everytime I'm in Epcot - even if it was horribly out of date

I always thought Star Tours was much better than Body Wars. BW was too herky jerky and not smooth at all.

Now if you want to talk about something in that building I'll miss: Cranium Command. I wouldn't mind seeing it one last time. After seeing it so many times, I still laughed :)

R.I.P. Cranium Command :(

I loved the ride as well, but I always thought that Elizabeth Shue should be taking me on an adventure in babysitting and not to a splinter in someone's finger!
Wow, I had NO idea that Elizabeth Shue was in it. Haha, I was too young then to know who she was though, and Wonders of Life has been closed every time I've been there in the past few years, so I wouldn't have been able to realize it. Thanks for sharing that.

I miss Body Wars, but I think I like the idea of missing Body Wars even more. It's kind of hard to explain. I liked Body Wars, but it was never anything special. But now that Wonders of Life, and everything inside of it isn't open anymore, I miss the whole pavilion and it is now becoming one of the retro Epcot attractions, and that in turn is making me miss it. Did that make sense?

No, it really doesn't make any sense. But it may be the best explanation for why some of the purists are so stuck in the past and still pine for the old attractions. They weren't that great, but it's just the "act" of missing something they enjoy. :brick:

I'm going to have to disagree. Body Wars would have to be my favorite Epcot thrill ride ever and a top 5 Epcot attraction all together. I loved the back story to this attraction and the actual film itself. I hated to see this attraction go, but unlike some other now extinct attractions, I realize this film and the motion simulator technology itself had become very out of date and it was time for a change. Actually the entire pavilion was one of my favorite things about WDW, but it's time had come. It would be a shame, however, if nothing is ever done with that space in the foreseeable future.

Should they spend the time and effort on WoL or get UoE or SSE updated first? There's still a lot of work to do in Future World, but some of the work will be more "refurb" than replace... maybe they will do that first.

Yeah I agree with you completely. I think that the Universe of Energy should be updated soon and SSE could use an update to the finale. Journey Into Imagination might need the work worse than anything though, IMO.

When I said forseeable future, I probably should have said the next 20 years or so

Shock horror! We agree on something!
WoL is closed. UoE isn`t. UoE needs updating, and with no sponsor the company will have to stump up the cash. Again, WoL is closed, so it would be no new news if it stayed so until Energy was finished. Assuming the park would cope with Energy and WoL closed at the same time. And SSE? Hopefully Siemens will call the shots with this - and restore it to it`s flagship status.

I loved Body Wars, but I really think that Disney needs to fix the issue with having the pavillion there with nothing doing. As for UoE, I don't think it needs updating that badly, and there are much bigger things that could be done without revamping that area right now. A revamp of World of Imagination and some big additions to the World Showcase would be much better recieved at this time, in my opinion.

The Showcase could use some updated rides and even a new country. Russia might be nice now that the Cold War is over. It would be a nice gesture for a dominant culture in the world.

Indeed it could, but the company won`t set a precedent by (or want to by) paying for a country itself - don`t mention Canada - they just need a nation willing to spend $100m on a pavilion and pay for it`s upkeep.

A sponsorless pavilion in Futureworld, however, is a more viable option for the mouses money.

Unfortunately, I have to say that Body Wars was truly the only ride experience I hated at WDW. It made me feel horribly sick (as others have mentioned here, I too can handle any roller coaster and Mission Space, but Body Wars seemed to do me in). If I may be redundant, I hate saying that I hate something at WDW, but Body Wars was thoroughly not enjoyable. I do, however, wish it well as it makes its way to that great land of past attractions in the sky.

Here is my video of Body Wars from 2003.
It was kinda hard to keep the video camera straight.

Thanks for the great videos on your site. i watch the world of motion video and finally remeber ride the ride (even though i rode it numerous times) i could not remeber what went on in it. It seems that i kind of blended the world of motion with the old SpaceShip Earth.
Thanks

Your very welcome.
A few of the rides at Epcot did remind me of each other in the early days.
