Bob Iger returning to Disney as CEO?

That's a great point (bolded) that I haven't seen talked about much. Talk has typically centered on the parks, not the outflow of talent.

At what point will someone step in and say "ugh, maybe we need to change some things, since our best people are leaving us."

They don't care. They've been allowing creative talent to leave for years, and even forcing those people out as well. They believe they can just outsource when they need something, often to the same people they let go, but I imagine paying a higher price.

It’s a sorry state of affairs when Iger is the better option.
I was just coming in here to say this. He didn’t even doing anything groundbreaking. He just brought other people’s properties and has a great personality. Bob C is being thrown under the bus because he isn’t likable. Not like I care since he’s an elitist but acting like Iger was so great is revisionist history.

From my reading alot have ended up at Universal, and some feel the need to grind an axe at Disney. Epic Universe could really be something with a crew of former Imagineers wanting to prove Disney wrong................

Maybe with help from the new Chairwoman of the Board, she will address that and other things. My vote is for Eisner for the interim CEO.

If they were going to make a change in the CEO, would they want it to be plastered all over the news or maybe done on a Friday or around a Holiday when people may miss the shake up?

Does anyone else think Iger planned all this nickel and dime stuff like genie+, exited to make it look like it was someone else who’s killing the parks, all to come back and look like a hero trying to make things better

something doesn’t pass the smell test here and like marni said, it’s sad when Iger is the lesser of two evils

Yes.

Look he left just as Covid was becoming a global threat. That was no coincidence. He’s loomed large despite his retirement, and appears to have planted a number of stories to cast him in a different light than his successor. I don’t think this is so much a reality as it is his desire to have his ego stoked. The only thing that might make this somewhat possible is that his hopes and desires for a high level Biden administration job or ambassadorship has not planned out, and he‘s getting bored

Anybody who's watched the Disney+ content should be able to tell Iger is pulling a Leno.
They both probably accumulated their high net worth by smart investing. Iger is worth $800M and Leno lived off of his stand up income and he did not touch his multi million dollar annual income as Tonight show host and invested it.

Wasn't there some guy he liked better than Chapek? He probably wants to usher that guy in after everyone gets good and hateful toward Chapek.

The CEO after Iger was supposed to be Tom Staggs but he left the company. Which is such a shame because staggs was really well liked amongst cms. I’m a former wdw cm myself and I remember this being around 2015

I don't think so. Staggs did not have the support of the Disney Board who elects the CEO so Staggs quit.
