Ugh not this BS argument again. You do realize that there's an entire field of mathematics called queuing theory, and that experts in that field are the ones who designed FP and FP+?

Well, I wouldn't call it BS. I remember when the parks were pleasant to walk through, crowds evenly distributed and it was much more relaxing. Even with high guest counts. If Fast Pass is supposed to be a plus, there should be multiple benefits for everyone visiting that makes touring the parks more enjoyable. Should they keep it- yes, with a retooling, but not if they leave it as is.

Why do you even bother posting about theme parks? You moan about Disney. You moan about Universal.

I may not be a fan of the creative decisions made under Bob's reign at the top, and think that a lot of the celebration I see in this thread is WAY premature, but Iger hasn't "destroyed" anything. They're going to build Star Wars. Will it be the greatest thing since sliced bread a lot of people in this thread seem to think it already is? I have my doubts. But it's going to happen.

What is your source they are going to build Star Wars land. You in the Disney clouds again?

Bob Iger in over a decade at Disney has not invested in one attraction over at Disney. A place where i vacation every year, sometimes more than once a year. But lately, you see the parks going downhill, you see Iger himself cost cutting and removing attractions to save money (look at DHS, why are attractions being removed with nothing replacing them for over two years), the destruction of the original vision of Epcot with a cheap redo of the Maelestrom attraction. Talking of the Frozen attractions - a movie so massive that it's quite possibly the biggest phenomena since Star Wars itself, and what does Iger do? He rebrands a rather dull ride, lick of pain, few new cardboard cut outs and hey presto. Go check what Oriental Land Company are doing with Frozen at Tokyo. He has done nothing with the parks. Nothing to inject love, passion, and his own footprint.

Iger is a corporate CEO. His main goal is profit, nothing else. He doesn't give a rat if there are no new attractions, as long as the bottom column says profit. But it's a dangerous game, because eventually people will stop coming. But hey ho, Bob will be gone by them - and it will be the next CEO rushing in new attractions to save the parks.

The man is an utter disgrace to the parks. He's a movies man, and not done a single positive thing for the theme parks despite profits rollinh. People go on about the Fantasy Land expansion - are you have a laugh? All that achieved was more land space and a rather average coaster - and this took how long !?!!?! Look at the original designs for the expansion, and ask yourself who scaled back the plans? Iger a clever analyst who dare not invest in a single thing as it reduces profit for him and his corporate suits.

Who is responsible for no new attractions? Iger.

There has never been a CEO in Disney's history who has single handedly damaged the parks like Iger. You have visionaries in life - Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Speilberg, etc who love their art and work with passion. Then you have a man like Iger who passion is profit and the dollar. To hell with any vision or a chance to leave some artistic merit on the parks.

Disney as a corporation risk everything if they ever hire a corporate CEO again who just doesn't get theme parks.

That's why i am angry with him, and can't wait for him to leave.

Are you the one whose going to spend his entire days hoping for a Star Wars land over at Hollywood Studios?

It will happen one day, but not under Bob 'can we do it cheaper' Iger.

Star Wars Land is definitely going to happen; that should be pretty obvious at this point. It's been reported about extensively in the media, Iger has hinted like crazy around it.. He even said in a shareholder meeting that Star Wars is going to have a huge presence in the parks.

Sure, it needs board approval, but it's going to easily get that. It's the strongest movie franchise that has ever existed and it's still going strong. The board isn't stupid; they know that if they build it, more people will go to DHS and they will easily recoup their investment.

How expansive the DHS plans are still up in the air, but it will definitely include Star Wars.

I don't disagree with a word you say except that there's no Star Wars coming.

Based on what came across my desk today I think this is it

There will be a huge precense. You'll see GooFy dressed in Darth Vader clothing. Mickey with a light saber. Minnie as Princess Lei. But we won't get an immersive world experience like Harry Potter - Iger won't spend money on anything like that, as it cuts into profit.

Oh and you'll get more shops.

  1. All of Parks & Resorts (not just domestic theme parks) only represents about 25% of the corporate profits and it only performs well during a good economy. While profits wouldn't be as high, Disney would still make billions in profit without it.
  2. Parks & Resorts has never brought in as much money as it does now.
You might not like Iger, but there's no disputing that he's been incredible for Disney's profits. There's a reason shareholders eagerly pay this guy essentially $1M per week and constantly give him raises.

I don't think we will see Cars Land... My gut is telling me they are going to keep that out west.... I would not be surprised if get Pixar but it won't be Cars... I keep thinking maybe we get a Princess to offset the male dominance of Star Wars... but I hope not.
The main character in the new trilogy is Han and Leah's daughter. While, maybe not a princess (or maybe she is a princess)...

Lucas aka Kathleen just laid down the gauntlet-she is not happy with the mashups and this may be the last year for them.

Avatar is looking like a pretty immersive world. Wonder who approved that.

You honestly think you're important enough for me to burn my bridges, sources, and friendships I've had for years that are telling me otherwise?

You're clearly delusional if you think you're that important.
At this point there's hundreds of people who know what's going on all bound by NDAs but people like to talk...

I love how it's inconceivable people on this board could know one of them
