Pete Doctor and Jonas Rivera both reference a blue sky Inside Out Epcot ride here: http://www.slashfilm.com/inside-out-theme-park/

'According to Inside Out director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera, 45 minutes after first pitching their film, they were on the phone with Imagineering telling them about the idea. '

'My pitch is that I think this could be a pavilion at Epcot. You’ve got The Sea. Nemo’s there. So in The Land there’s a section called Imagination that’s still there and it’s still cool. [The character] Figment and all that. I loved that as a kid. And I thought, well, ‘We have the mind now.’ And we’ve sort of put visuals to it. And the Train of Thought. It just feels like a show with dreams. It feels like it fits.' -Jonas Rivera

Uuhh imagination isn't in the land pavilion and their already is a medical pavilion rotting that used to have a similar concept called cranium command. Why can't they put inside out there? Are people really this stupid?

As much as I hate to say it...I know it wasn't because of him, and may have happened anyway...but...I have to give Al Lutz a shout out for screaming so loudly about it. Remember, back then a dozen or so years ago, there were far less "players" in the online Disney community, and at least to Disneyland, he was "the man" - the only one who's coverage mattered and the one that the large contingent of Disneyland regulars looked to.

I think he's gone a bit off the rails since then, and isn't nearly as relevant as he once was - but I do feel I have to give recognition where it is due.

You aren't the only one who remembers that. And Mr. Lutz was a huge part of it. Huge.

As I understand it, he has retired due to some health issues and hasn't done one of his columns in over a year. The end of an era, to be sure.

All of the scenes are "outdated". The problem isn't that the last scene is stuck in 1994... the problem is that it's stuck in a 1994 imagineer's vision of a year 2000 that never happened.

They should just correct the last scene to the real 1990's just like the rest of the scenes depict their era. Refresh all the scenes, fix the broken aa's, update the seating and carpet and call it a day. It will still be relevant. It will be the progress of the 20 century. Boom, done. No more updates to try to figure out the future every few decades.

But if this happens then Uni might not be the only kool kid on the playground anymore....

Well, they raised the bar. They showed that you really can't do things in Orlando on the cheap. They showed you take a giant immersive work of fiction (Potter) and You have to go all-out with it.

Universal - and I can't believe we're having this conversation - doesn't weigh in at all on what Disney or the Board does. The godawful attendance figures do. Having the rights to Star Wars does. The only thing that might have an impact is that it forces Disney to do it right.

They should sit back and truly enjoy this golden age of Universal Orlando Resort and remember that despite what ever Disney does, they've got great parks, great future plans and great reasons for people to go to their resort.

Anyways, this really is getting off-topic.

More on topic here.... And my spies can't answer this yet....

Have we heard any definitive on what "Pixar" means? Is it Definitively TSPL? Or is that still speculation that was put out there by that one person?

Agreed, it truly is a golden age for Universal and it should be celebrated and enjoyed. What Universal does and what Disney does truly have no bearing on each other.

Here's how I think the DHS overhaul is going to happen.

Pixar Place - that will take place in the area where it is right now and to Art of Animation. Possibly it could expand behind TSMM and MAYBE wipe out the earful tower (since it probably won't be studios anymore).

Cars Land - now when people see this they are probably thinking they might not happen, but there is enough room to put it because if Pixar place goes towards Animation Courtyard. Cars Land would work if it goes down Streets of America and in LMA and the Backlot.

Star Wars Land - now there's a no doubter about this. This can go through Echo Lake, Indiana Jones, and the existing Star Wars attractions. People rumors American Idol (Hyperion now) theater would close, but bc of Frozen taking over Hyperion, that's gone. Also, Star Wars could go near Muppets and wipe that out.

Hollywood Boulevard - so I have a new name that Hollywood Boulevard could have…Buena Vista Street! All the shops are wiped out and remodeled to look like DCA's. Maybe we could see the sight of the Red Car Trolleys coming to FL? That's my possibility and the same thing with Vine. All the shops get remodeled and the trolley can go down through there.

New Name - my prediction on DHS's new name or names I should add. Disney Hollywood Adventure or Disney Florida Adventure. One of those two names can work.

Misc Additions - New parking entrance with more parking and another addition will be the flex theater. Could we possibly see a new firework spectacular at DHS? I mean I know Fantasmic is there, but DL does Fantasmic and has a firework spectacular after the show.

Budget - I think this could be about 2 billion dollars.

These are my predictions on the DHS overhaul

I don't know who this person is or why she gets free vacations, but I would like my 3 minutes and 14 seconds back please. :bored:

I don't even get this whole marketing concept. And I'm pretty sure that I am the target audience for this kind of advertising.

I just...so what, I'm going to watch videos of people who got free vacations or other perks tell me about how great the company that gave them this stuff for free is? I mean...of course the people on the company's dime are going to tell me they love it, or at least be very mild in any criticisms. It would be like going to the main WDW website and expecting an unbiased opinion, though. Who plans their vacations because of people like these mommy bloggers? Evidently far more people than I realize.

Oh well, I see folks are talking about Mommy Bloggers and that sorta makes me puke so I'm gonna bow out over here and stay back over in the Perfect 10. There really isn't anything left to say about this subject until more info is given to us ... or some of us. :)

Hey @WDW1974 don't leave, We started talking about how guys like You, Lee Steve and Martin get out all kinds of useful information about the parks for which you guys receive BUPKIS, And yet TWDC spends millions on people like Fadra Nally who can't even get 100 page views for a INVITATION ONLY EVENT at WDW! this subtext is more about Disneys warped spending priorities than about the 'mommy bloggers'.

Agreed. Again to clarify the Inside Out rumor. The source is Jim Hill and it is a rumor that Inside Out will replace Captain EO, not Journey Into Imagination.

Eh, I'm pretty sure that this is the first mention about this Hill rumor - it hasn't come up, at least what I have read - I certainly haven't heard it (does he even still have a site? it never comes up anymore). It came up from people discussing the film and saying "You know it would fit..." in Imagination, people going back and forth if it was a good or bad thing, and then I posted the email I got from Disney linking IO/Imagination concept.

Sounds like typical Hill, because to be honest other sites have had people randomly discussing the connection, because it definitely could be made - and him making an "article" about fan speculation and hoping it sticks to the wall. ;)

EDIT: Just tried to go to his site and couldn't find it - link? Or better yet, paste the text? Because the second I went to his site I got cheap pop-up ads and homie don't play that, LOL. All that Flash junk and pop ups I thought I was going to the Sentinel...although I don't think they do pop-up browser takeovers even there.

It is not everyday that you get the chance to speak one-on-one with the creative minds behind what you know will be a summer blockbuster at the box office. That is exactly the opportunity that I had recently when I sat down with Disney / Pixar's Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera responsible for some of the best animation to hit the silver screen.

Doctor and Rivera were in Philadelphia recently as part of their cross-country press tour talking up "Inside Out," what they hope will be the latest accolade in their and Disney / Pixar's collective body of work.

"Inside Out" is Disney / Pixar's 15th feature film and comes two years after "Monsters University" and just ahead of this animation studio's Thanksgiving 2015 release of "The Good Dinosaur." "Inside Out" finds young Riley uprooted from her Midwest life and relocated to San Francisco. It is there that Riley and her emotions, Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness battle on how to best navigate a new city, house and school.

For Docter, the movie is personal. Not only the director but the writer of the movie, Docter says the idea was born out of changes he noticed with his 11-year-old daughter. The once-bubbly-happy-go-lucky girl turned eleven and Docter said "she got more quiet, more reclusive and made me wonder, what's going on inside her head. And thinking about emotions as characters just felt like this is what animation does best." He admits the idea seemed from the get-go like a "really fun idea."

The concept of a really fun idea was enough to hook producer Jonas Rivera into the project and the chance to work closely with Docter again. The pair was responsible for 2009's "Up," which earned two Oscars at the 82nd Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.

As for the question whether "Inside Out" is a kids movie, an adult flick or a family film, Rivera says it really is a movie for everyone to see. He confides that the number one rule and perhaps the only rule that Disney/Pixar boss John Lasseter has for his animators is to "make a film that you would want to see, you would be proud to show your family." Rivera is quick to add that the creative minds "write and produce these films for ourselves. We struggle with the question 'who do we make a movie for' and the answer is we make a movie for all of us."

The latest Disney/Pixar project took five years to make from initial sketches to edits and re-edits to the final feature. In order to get the emotions right, the creative team spent a lot of time doing their research which included sessions with specialists to understand what emotions are and what role do they play in the human experience. Docter says they consulted with psychologists, psychiatrists, and neurologists in an attempt to get to the root of human emotions.

They also spent a lot of time with the voice actors giving life to the emotions and according to Rivera it began with "Saturday Night Live" cast member Bill Hader. "We knew Bill pretty well because he came on early and helped to write," said Rivera. Docter chimed in by adding that "he put in a good word for us" as they reached out to fellow SNL alum Amy Poehler to join the cast as Joy.

Rounding out the cast-mates of emotions are Hader as Fear, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger. Other notable voices lending their talents to the movie include Diane Lane as Riley's Mom, Kyle MacLachlan as Riley's Dad, Richard Kind as Bing Bong and what Pixar movie would not be complete without the vocal talents of John Ratzenberger as Fritz. Both Docter and Rivera admit that Ratzenberger has become a good luck charm for the studios' movies since he has vocalized a character in every Disney/Pixar film. Pixar has grabbed nearly two dozen Oscars including six for best animated feature since the studio opened for business.

The success of their films does not get lost on the duo. Both Docter and Rivera admit they are aware of their contributions to the wonderful world of Disney animation and the legacy of Walt Disney. Rivera admitted that "is one of the coolest parts of this experience, and the heaviest, we don't take it lightly. When we record an actor we go down to the Walt Disney Studios on the lot in Burbank. We go onto Stage B where they recorded 'The Jungle Book," 'Cinderella,' 'Peter Pan' and ADR for 'Mary Poppins.' That is hallowed ground to us. We honor the past but we keep pushing forward and coming up with new stuff."

To answer that burning question for many Disney fans, "what would Walt think?" Rivera admits "that is an awesome question. I think he would be proud of it. I don't mean that in a cocky way, like we are doing stuff that Walt would love." Rivera continues "Walt Disney to me was this amazing blend of nostalgia, like one foot in the nostalgia thing and one foot in the future, literally like Frontierland and Tomorrowland, which in a strange way is an echo of Woody and Buzz."

Conceding that Pixar is one of the most high-tech places on the planet, Rivera and Docter agree that the technology is only in service to the story. "These stories that are rooted in these feelings we had when we were a kid," that is what sets them apart, adding that Uncle Walt "would have been proud of the technology and the look of it. But I think he would have been more proud, of what we're most proud of, which is the stories and the characters."
